The idea of the list is to provide a sounding board to discuss and get feedback on ideas before submitting them to Austin Meyer (developer of X-Plane) for consideration. Austin is aware of the list, and appreciates the fact that ideas which come to him having been discussed here first are less likely to waste his time, e.g. by requesting features which have already been implemented but the user is unaware how to access them, by requesting features which the majority do not think a good idea for some reason, or by requesting features which are impractical or just plain stupid.

The list is pretty quiet sometimes, possibly because of the rate at which new features are already added by Austin himself and by the writers of the various plug-ins, but it's still a good idea to test out ideas for new features here first, particularly if you yourself want additional feedback on how it may work, or want to hear what refinements other list members may want to propose.

There's nothing to stop you going straight to Austin or course, but if you want a check that you're not wasting his time and you want a little reassurance that you're not going to blow your credibility with him, sound out your ideas here first. If and when you do submit your idea to Austin, it will do no harm to mention that it has been discussed here first.

First posts are moderated to prevent spam. Subsequent posts are not, but the moderator reserves the right to censor, ban, or otherwise enforce proper list behaviour.

No personal attacks or "bashings" will be tolerated. Feel free to disagree with positions, assumptions, or discussions, but do so with logic, facts and figures, not personal cut-downs.
