Hi Wordgame Programmers,
There is a game called Spinword produced by Joyboost, who recently
sponsored the British Matchplay Scrabble Championship. It's quite good
fun and I'd recommend giving it a try at www.joyboost.com
The download version contains a file named english.txt which is their
full word list. It uses a cypher to 'hide' the words, namely:
A - K
B - H
C - I
D - N
E - O
F - L
G - M
H - B
I - C
J - @
K - A
L - F
M - G
N - D
O - E
P - Z
Q - [
R - X
S - Y
T - ^
U - _
V - \
W - ]
X - R
Y - S
Z - P
If we could translate the SOWPODS and/or TWL lists into this cypher it
would allow us to play the game with those word lists. Sadly I have zero
technical ability which means I'm asking for help in doing so. I don't
know where to get the TWL list but the full up-to-date SOWPODS can be
found at www.tilefish.co.uk/csw.txt
If anyone can do this and post the resulting files to this group's Yahoo
page or send them to me privately, I would be grateful.
The game doesn't use words of longer than nine letters so if you can
truncate the lists it will reduce file sizes.
Cheers,
Stewart
