Aircraft ranges inaccurate   Message List

I just did a sampling of range data on the WiF aircraft counters. When I
compared this data with historical data on the same AC, I found that the ranges
printed on the counters are only about 50% of what they should be.

This is a really big historical inaccuracy in the game. Does anyone know if this
has been corrected somewhere? Perhaps a set of counters with accurate ranges?

Steve

Since it seems to be universal, I suspect a judgement was made that there is a difference between maximum range and "effective operating" range....

So is the 2755 km range quoted the normal range, ie take off to landing. Bacause that is only a 13-14 range counter. Then you have combat load. Berlin is only...

Steve, Looking at your comments on the B-17, it seems to me you calculate that the range given for aircraft is both to the target hex and then back? WiF range...

It appears that this is exactly what he does. According to wiki, the range of an aircraft is defined as the distance an aircraft can fly from takeoff to...

The discussion is totally void as Harry have previously and numerously said that the plane depicted on the counter is just an indication of the kind of planes...

Steve, it seems to me that you are not using the WiF planes correctly. An aircraft with a "9" range flies (up to) 9 hexes to its target, and then returns 9...

I suspected the same thing as Ken when I read your example of flying from Rouen to Cologne. Thank goodness we didn't get into "interception" ranges (radius)...

If you take a look at rules 14.1.1 (Range) and 14.2 (Aircraft missions) you will see that you can do a mission up to the plane's maximum range, and then you do...

Have you compared operational ranges or absolute rangee? (I.e. based on the specs sheet and not in normal day-in day-out flying ops.) ... I just did a sampling...

I suspect that it reflects a combination of effective combat range and the fact that they have to return to base possibly as many hexes as they flew to...

I will not argue with your research, but I think you are misinterpreting the rules as they pertain to aircraft range. If an air unit has a rane of 9, it may...
