Here!

Well, if you like LARP's, me and Faelderg (Gary) will be out there,
running a three day Changing Breed/Vampire/Changeling. Look for "In
the Shadow of the Wall" run by What-The-Puck Productions. It's going
to be set in Cold War Berlin, 1970... lots of intrigue, dual-
loyalties and espionage mayhem!

Come early, because we are actually going to be using the Changing
Breed rules to hand out Corax, Bastet and (if we can get the rules
early from our guest ST, Pete Woodworth, the author of the books)
Ratkin and perhaps Ananasi pre-gen chars! Or if you like, send us an
email for what you would like to play, and we'll pre-gen one customer
for you. Normally we'd offer you to make your own, and approve
onsite, but we are adding lots of wonderful little backgrounds and
goal-sheets to fit the nature of the game, and wouldn't want you to
miss out on any of th skullduggery! If it sounds like you'd be
interested (or anyone on the board for that matter) check out our
webiste (still under a fair amount of construction) at www.what-the-
puck.com. We'll be posting up more details as we get them, and you
can contact puckhead@... or post something on our forum board
to get involved!

Hope to see you all there!

I know it's a little early, but I'm going to GenCon this year [I just
received my badges today! :)] and I was wondering if anyone else will
be attending? And if so, does anyone know someone who will ST a WtA
Session for the Con?
If there is, I'll definately tear myself away from CAV and BattleTech
to RP...

TPO Karina and her two daughters.
Okay, the basics....

Bastet: Similar. THey
do not have Tribes, per se, but instead are aligned
along Breed lines.... Pumonca with the pumas, Khan with
the tigers, Simba with the LIons, etc. They also have
a different set of 'auspices' that have more to do
with what time of day they were born, instead of moon
cycle. Thier relationship to Luna is closer, but they
still feel hurt by silver. Thier views on the Triat is
VERY different, as they feel Chalsh (thier versio of
the Wyrm) has it's place, although it is currently
out of it's place. Thier gifts are VERY different
although thier forms are very similar. They also have a
set of secrets, called Yava, that are the keys to the
weaknesses of the Breeds. A creature that learned all of the
Yava could easily destroy that Tribe, and have in the
past.

Corax: Very different. Not born of two parents in the
classical sense, they are linked to a spirit egg when they
are born, and as they come of age, the Corax spirit
in the egg joins with the person or crow. So, they
have no Metis. Also, they are not related to LUna, but
instead to Helios. They feel no pain from silver, but
instead from gold. They have no Tribal lines, or
auspices... all Corax are equal in the eye or Raven. They
have a very similar view to the Triat as the Garou,
but thier purpose is to spy and report... they very
very seldom take to battle, not being built for it.
Instead, they gather info and pass it to those who will
best be able to do somehting about it. Lastly, they
have very specific gifts granted them by Helios that
makes them very effective at what they do.

This
is a paragraph for each that give you some idea that
creating a Bastet or Corax is not creating a Garou who
happens to be a cat or bird. Buy the Changing Breed
books, really, or at very least the PLayer's Guide,
which has a miniature version of the books for all the
Changing Breeds in the back. They aren't complete by ANY
stretch, and unless you have the Breed books, you really
don't understand HOW they are VERY different from
Garou.
Ok, bad idea. Well, can you give me an idea about
the tribes, if that's legal.

Is building a
char the same, similar, or diffrent from the
werewolves and the auspices if their diff and
tribes?

I'm specifically interested in bastet and corax.
If they are out there, they are breaking a TON of
copyright rules, and can be sued by WhiteWolf and the site
shut down. Nobody can print the rules or sourcebooks,
without express permission from WW, nor can they
distribute it freely on the interent.... if so, nobody would
BUY the things!

WhiteWolf has a few excerpts
and all the character sheets on thier sites, and
sometimesyo can find short paraphrasing on the WhiteWolf
Ring... but be really careful about openly searching for
those sites... at least don't expect a public posting
of them. You could get someone in some serious crap.

hello out there We are a group of Sue's friends
from windsor looking for her
she is a graet story
teller and a contributor to the book on
Weaver.

any help is most appreciated
best regards
keith
If I may, I think I can answer all of these.
Werewolf:The Apocolyse started as a tabletop roleplaying game
published by White Wolf Publishing. It's setting is
verymuch our world, only darker, thus 'The World of
Darkness'. In that world, as you have undoubtedly realized,
supernaturals do exist, though they all have reason to hid
thier existance from the populace at large.
The
terms and creatures you ask about are all part of that
supernatural community and culture. You likley have other
terms that confuse you, or you have partially
interpreted out of the context from which they written. To
truly appreciate what I feel is the best realized
universe of any roleplaying game, you would do well to
purchase the core rulebook, where they fully explain the
meaning of those terms, and where they fit in this
setting. However....

1) A Caern is a holy place of
the Garou, the werewolves of the World of Darkness.
Each is a node of spiritual energy, where the
connections between the spirit and the real worlds are
closer, the walls between them thinner. They are the font
of spiritual energy for the Garou, and thus are
targets of thier enemies, the agents of the
Wyrm.

2) A Sept is an organization of Garou who care for,
protect and commune with a caern. There are multiple
positons filled by powerful Garou, that guarantee the
health and spirituality of the caern, and the sept,
remain strong. A pack is a groupof Garou who have
dedicated themselves to a particular spirit Totem, often
for life, but sometimes for a specific task. A large
Sept usually has several packs within it's
ranks.

3) In short form, the Weaver is one of the three
great spiritual forces that the universe is based on,
according to Garou culture. The Wyld, to whom the Garou
hold the closest ties, is the force of creation. The
Weaver is the force of form and organisation, taking
that which the Wyld creates and giving it form,
maintaining reality. The Wyrm was originally the force of
Entropy, the Destroyer, that which breaks downt hat which
is created and formed to give matter back to the
Wyld. In the cosmology of the Garou, the current state
of the world is a result of the Weaver trapping the
Wyrm in it's threads, keeping it from breaking down
that which the Weaver had formed. The Wyrm went insane
from being constricted, and became a force of decay
and corruption, still doing it's job, but in a
perverted way, upsetting the balance of the Triat. Garou
differ as to how it all happened, but that is the
gist.

4) A Fomor or Fomori is a human or animal who has
been warped and corrupted by the raw energies of the
Wyrm. They are usually somehwat to totally insane, and
dedicated to spreading the corruption of it's
master.

Here at the boards, we actually tell stories in a
round robin fashion, each of us crafting one or more
characters in the stories created by the founders of the
club. We all play Garou, or one of the other
were-shifters of the World of Darkness, fighting the losing
battle against the rising tide of the Wyrm, as the
Apocolyse foretold by the seers and spirits
appraoches.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email
me directly at HairySchmegma@..., and I'll be
glad to help.
I recently heard about Werewolf: The Apocalypse
and i'm a bit confused about some things. First of
all, what IS it? Book series? Game?
(I've read a
few of the books - "When Will You Rage?" "Predator &
Prey: Werewolf," "Shadow Lords & Get of Fenris," and
part of "Silent Striders & Black Furies.")
And I'm
not sure about some of the terminology...
*What's
a 'caern'?
*What's the difference between a
'sept' and a pack?
*WHat is the Weaver?
#What is
'fomori'? I know it works for the Wyrm or something, but
that's it...
