Greetings! I am new to this group. A couple of weeks ago, I finally
got around to trying out the idea of using a webcamera during a
miniatures game. I created a discussion on
social.consimworld.
what we have been trying to do and how it has gone through a couple
of games.
I was unaware of webcamwargaming until a couple of days ago when
someone on the consimworld discussion pointed it out. Very cool!
I think the main difference between what is described in webcamgaming
and what we've tried to do with CommanderCam is that the latter
attempts to provide only what a commander on the field see.
Therefore, the camera is placed at "eye" level with the miniature
that represents the commander of the player whose turn it is. Instead
of a "God's eye" or "helicopter" view of the battlefield, the player
only sees what his commander sees. The player whose turn it is not
does not get to see the video feed, and instead is using that time to
develop plans and write orders for his next turn.
If this sounds interesting, check out
http://social.
for social.consimworld first).
I'm not advocating one technique vs. another, just letting you all
know of a similar attempt.
Keep gaming!
