That (light-hearted name for a girl of negotiable affection)sounds
like another game altogether! Will fix it again. As long as I've
got you interested, I was wondering if you could look at the Tile
list and maybe suggest a few more latin corrections/additions.

I hate to be pedant, but it is still wrong
you can say either "Urbs Romana" or "Urbis Romanae".
"Urbis Romana" means something like "the roman female of the city", which seems
a light-hearted name for a girl of negotiable affection.
However: are there tiles available somewhere?

Yes, correct.
I thought that might work better.

Still working on the tiles. BUT, it appears as if the scoring criteria
has changed. Before, you had a scoring phase in every turn. Now, you
get bonus points every turn, but you don't score having the majority of
a type of tile until the very end of the game.
Is this correct, Lloyd?

Thanks a lot!
If a warpspawner (interesting word, don't you think) writes a review,
or simply shares his opinion about the book I'll be glad to read it.

Thanks mailinutile,
Changed name to Urbis Romana.
I've been tinkering: 1 more available action,
Majority Markers, and 8 in a row scoring.
No Tile set yet. Waiting for someone to make one.

I'm very confused. On each turn, the "Governor" takes an action, then
acquires Bonus points if any, then Draws tiles; then the next player
does these things; only when each player has had a turn doing these
things do you go to the Scoring Phase?
[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Looks like fun! There is a slight typographical correction people
should take note of. "T" is listed as meaning "Trait" cards, however
some of those listed as '"T" are not "Trait" cards but rather another
kind of card: "Troop" which is a Unit. There are four of these: Men at
Arms, Squires, Mercenaries, Bandits. The Fog Spell card negates
these, and the Rally Action enhances them, special abilities affecting
"Units" affects them. All other cards listed as "T" are "Trait" cards,
and are affected by the special abilities that state they affect "Trait"
cards. .

This occurs now and then - some characters aren't showing in the browser
because they're unicode. In this case it's the slanted single quotes used.
Would it be possible to edit the HTML and put in a character set
declaration? That'll fix the problem by telling browsers they should view
this page using unicode.
Just put
<meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8" />
in the Head area of the document.

Excellent!
Non-English RPGs are an untapped mine of creative writings that are sadly
neglected by the "english as only language" speakers in the world. I've
often thought so, anyway - having come across some now and then on the
internet. Board/card games have made the crossover gradually as the
English-only gamers are finally realising that other cultures have good
ideas too :)

My dear friends,
I'm lurking more than I should. At least I'm working on new games too,
albeit not so quick as before.
But I have some good news.
You see, I'm a Brazilian RPG author (yes, published and all) and I've
decided to translate one of my books into English. Dark Fate is this book.
It's a low fantasy horror RPG using Swords & Wizardry (classic Dungeons &
Dragons retroclone) game rules (including some variations)--it's a campaign
setting book.
It's more like a framework for adventures. There are no major metaplots or
ubber-NPCs on every village--in fact, most NPCs are in the 2nd-to-5th level
range. The idea is providing a good background to the adventures, allowing a
party to explore the unknown or even meddle with courtly life and polictics
accordingly with each Referee's style of gaming.
Dark Fate is a world where the Goddess of Magic died recently, causing the
death of countless fantastic and mythical creatures--you won't find a
plethora of demi-humans, or even great sorcerers at every corner. And it's
also a world where a dreadful Necropolis arose and spawned legions of undead
creatures. For now the cities are the only safe heaven, but for how long
they'll remain as such?
So, ladies and gentlemen,
I'm proud to announce the Dark Fate Campaign Setting is now available at
Lulu (I'm thinking about Amazon too in the near future, but that may have to
wait a little)!
Here's a quick link to the book: http://www.darkfaterpg.com
With a foreword written by James Maliszewski of Grognardia fame, Dark Fate

of a land that is recovering from the death of the Goddess of Magic, where
mystical and fantastic creatures no longer live alongside the mortals—trying
to survive the ravaging undead creatures of the dreadful Necropolis is not

Hi! Just wanted to point that, as a big fan of Dune, i'm interested in testing
the game, but i can't get it using the link you attached. Could you (or anyone
else) send it to my mail?
By the way, i can understand that a game like this could not be shadowed by the
utmost importance of the spice, as long as you consider that most of it goes
directly from Dune to the Emperor, then to the Guild, with whatever house which
controls the spice only getting a minimal amount to put it on the market, or
even not counting spice at all (which will only make for a "minor house" game).
Anyway, if houses Harkonnen and Atreides were equally powerfull, and one
controlled spice while the other controlled pundy rice... well, i think you get
the idea, don't you?

I'm sorry I was not clear about it.
What I intended is that before Emperor-God spice embargo, Melange was just a
commodity like another, to be traded in the interplanetary market.
Sure, it was an highly priced commodity, but just a commodity nevertheless.
you could become rich and powerful speculating on the price of whale fur,
without having nything to do with spice.
Whoever controlled the spice flow did NOT sontrol the empire
Harkonnen has Dune as quasi-fief for fifteen years and they certainly did not
nontrol the empire

Well the importance of Dune is explained fairly simply-
The spice is the only means that anyone can travel faster than light.
So - in order to have a galactic empire at all, you need spice. Without it
- all communication and transport between planets would cease, and they'd
all go their separate ways.
Now - for all the fellow geeks out there who have read the books or watched
the movies, I'll put in the extra details-
Due to the Butlerian Jihad that destroyed all AIs and most computers,
Hyperspace navigation was impossible - hence the spice enhancements to
Navigators allowing them to do it manually.
Also note - post-God Emperor, the Ixians developed machines to navigate and
the Tleilaxxu developed artificial spice, thus the planet Arrakis become
less important strategically. Although it was still important politically
and religiously (as the home of the Fish Speakers, God Emperor, Paul etc).
Mind you, I've not read the books for a few years. Anyhow, hope that
explains why Dune was important. No Dune = No Empire.

At the bottom of the rules set is a Deck Card List - you need to make
your own cards based on that list.
