These are hand to hand, assault, or close combat attacks, whichever
you prefer to call them. They happen in the assault phase when you
make rolls for HtH attacks for this character/weapon.If you roll to
hit, and are successful, then the model suffers the damage stated
above.Let's say you are attacking a Blood Angel Chaplain, you roll
one D6, and after comparing weapon skills, you roll well enough to
hit the BA Chaplain. The Chaplain then gets no armour save of any
kind, but he will get his Invulnerable save for the Rosarius. If he
fails his Rosarius save, he is killed outright regardless of how
many wounds he has left.If you are attacking a tank, then the
standard rolls for vehicles applies.Correct me if I am wrong, but in
3rd Edition a tank that moved more than 6" was hit on 6's only, less
than 6" and 4+ hit it, if it did not move at all it's last movement
phase then it is automatically hit.Let's say t he tank you have
assaulted was a Basilisk, it sat stationary and fired it's last
turn. You will get one automatic hit and it will, because of the
weapon's rule, automatically penetrate the armour of the tank, and
you will roll for damage on the Penetrating Hits table.
