Heya!

New England was proud to host the 2002 Northeast Regional Qualifier
and to crown Peter Bakija as champion. We're coming back for more!

On Saturday, February 22 at TotalCon in Mansfield, MA, Methuselahs
we're hosting the 2003 Northeast Regional Qualifier. The top 10
finishers will earn the right to compete at the 2003 North American
   Championships at GenCon.

   The event:

Return to Gehenna: Northeast Regional Qualifier
   Saturday, February 22
   12pm - midnight
   Standard Constructed Deck Tournament
   3 rounds plus final round
2 hours per round (including finals)
Top 10 finishers qualify for the 2003 NAC
$3.00 event ticket required ($2.50 if purchased in advance)
(Note that you must also pay to attend TotalCon - prices to follow)

To help speed up the registration process, email your name and
V:EKN number to fudjo@... with the subject "Northeast
Regional Qualiifer". In theory, we'll have you already entered
into the Archon (with a random player number), and you'll only
need to give us your event ticket when you arrive.

   The location:

   Holiday Inn
   31 Hampshire St.
   Mansfield, MA 02048
   (508) 339-2200

Mansfield, MA is at the intersection of I-95 and I-495 south of

   when making your reservation.

     Saturday $12
     Sunday $12

Note that these additional events do not appear in the
TotalCon booklet. Do not panic! They are, in fact,
happening. We'll have a pack of Anarchs spreading
propaganda about the event at TotalCon so that you won't
   forget.

No.

All "ready titled vampires" grant their controllers the number of
votes represented by their titles. A "ready" vampire is one that is
not in torpor. Being tapped has nothing to do with it.

See 6.3.3. Gaining Votes in the online rulebook, here:

http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/rulebook/

"For each ready titled vampire a Methuselah controls, she gains extra
votes."

and the glossary for the defintion of a ready vampire.

"A vampire in torpor is not ready but is still considered controlled."

Thanks for all the quick answers.

I have another.

Does a press (used to end combat) cancel the automatic press
from "Trap"? I assume it does as the "Trap" press is just like any
other. If the "trapper" them plays another press (to cancel the
cancel) is the "Trap" still in effect?

Thanks

Keith

Trap presses to continue.
Either player may press to end.
Unless a press to continue is played, combat will end.

I thought trap presses were automatic presses to continue as long as any card
was played for 3 rounds. Or am I wrong?

Trap grants 1 press to continue if a card was played within the last
three rounds.

Either player can press to end, and the combat will end, just like
every other press to continue card is defeated by a press to end.

Ronn,

There is a mailing list dedicated solely to trading for this fine
game. You can find it and its 150+ members here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VTES_Trading/

You might get a better response if you repost your request to that
mailing list as well. I wish you luck in finding what you seek.

There's also a web site that I've seen called "Communal Haven". I
think that's been tossed around this group once or twice.
http://www.communal-haven.com/vtes/communal_haven/home.php3 will send

White Wolf Announces 2003 European Vampire CCG Championship in
Barcelona

Atlanta, GA‹White Wolf Publishing, Inc. announces that the 2003
Vampire: The Eternal Struggle® European Championship will be held in
Barcelona, Spain this October.

Players from throughout Europe who qualify in 2003 National
Championship events will be invited to attend the European
Championship in Barcelona and pit their skills against fellow
champions. All players are invited to attend, however, because those
not yet qualified in National Championships will still have a chance
to qualify in one final Qualifier Tournament held the day before the
European Championship. A complete list of Qualifier Tournaments will
be available at www.white-wolf.com/vtes later this month.

The 2003 Barcelona Championship will be hosted by Distrimagen, the
Vampire Elder Kindred Network (the official Vampire CCG player
organization), the Hispanic Conclave and White Wolf. Specific
information on the tournament (including registration, accommodations
and public transportation info) will be made available when the
official 2003 European Championship website goes online later this
year. In the meantime, you can contact the president of the Hispanic
Conclave, Ginés Quiñonero, via email at (damnansVTES@...) and
check www.white-wolf.com/vtes for updates. The registration fee will
be a modest 10 euro, and the qualifying event and many other side
events are open to all players. Make plans to visit beautiful
Barcelona and match wits with the world¹s best players.

White Wolf has also announced that the 2004 European Championship
will be held in Germany.

Vampire: The Eternal Struggle (or V:TES) is White Wolf¹s signature
collectible card game (or CCG) based on its Vampire: The Masquerade
storytelling game. First published by Wizards of the Coast and more
recently by White Wolf itself, V:TES is the second-oldest active card
game next to Magic: the Gathering. Acclaimed for its high level of
strategy and social gaming, V:TES enjoys world-wide popularity among
mature gamers. This European Championship is a sister event to
similar continental championships in North America and Australia.

White Wolf Publishing (www.white-wolf.com) is a company dedicated to
redefining the art of storytelling. Since its birth in 1991, White
Wolf has consistently stretched the boundaries of familiar modes of
artistic entertainment, introducing new realms to the horror, science
fiction and fantasy genres. We began our journey with our now highly
popular role-playing lines, and then ventured into the realm of mass-
market fiction publishing. Now, we are involved in the electronic
entertainment and television industries.

hi all,

i set up a little chat for all VTES Players, using the Spinchat
client.

Go here:

http://213.229.19.99/chris/chat.html

and chat with players from around the world.

I know it's a little small yet, but if attendance is high, then I, or
someone who is better at stuff like this, might set up something
bigger.

Hello everyone!I made a Baltimore Purge/Graverobbing deck and I have
a specific question regarding who gets sent to torpor and their ages.
My deck is pretty much all Lasombra because I wanted to choose who
goes to torpor. The card says that each meth chooses a younger vampire
than the acting vampire and if I control a Lasombra,I choose instead.
             The question is,I control a ready Lasombra,can I choose
an OLDER vampire or do they still have to be younger?
                                     Thanks in advance,
                                               Ron B. Montreal

The card only allows you to target same age or younger vampires.
None of the card text ever allows you to target an older vampire.

There was a deck that Wizards had posted on their site for a while
that was an Agg Damage and burn deck based around Muaziz I think. I
was checking out the old deck archives and never found it. Does
anyone have that deck list or something similar?

Thanks

Awhile back, TopDeck Magazine, had some Decks posted in them for
Vampire. one of which was called Aggravation.
If you are interested email me at greywolf31@... and I will
dig up a copy and send it to you.

If there is enough intrest I will post them all to the Deck Archives
Group as well, so LMK if there is interest...

BTW - The Decks posted in those issues were usually decent decks good
for Beginners and Intermediate players.

Also a good starting place for Ideas.

That Top Deck article is here:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=81hq5j%24hb9%241%40nnrp1.deja.com

Be sure you realize that a lot of Chris' advice is just plain brown
wrong when it comes to specific cards texts. Lots of changes have
been made to the game since that article was published. Some of the
things where he was wrong was all him though.

Sawed-off Shotgun: 3R damage each strike; This weapon is only once
per
combat.

The shotgun is unusable after a press for next the round of combat
(used in first round). However, if an additional strike is played
after the stike on the first round, is the 3R gun damage applicable
for this extra stike: remember- 3R damage EACH stike?

Is celerity wasted on a shotgun?

I've just got back into the game (again). It seems I quit right
before Sabbat War came out. Right now I am just re-building my sets
(I gotta quit selling these everytime I stop playing) and had a few
questions.

1. Out of curiosity, why are the Tremere Antitribu not included in
Sabbat War?

2. I am going to GenCon this summer and might jump in my first VTES
tourney. Whats a decent strategy for a somewhat new player? Metagame
tactics? Anything else I need to know? (I read the updated rules and
errata already) I expect to get trounced, and thats ok cause it's all
about fun. But I'd like to be able to hold my own for a little while.

3. Do people playing casual games at Gencon aside from the tourneys?

My take is that some evil writer dude decided to write off the
Tremere Antitribu like a second rate character on Buffy the Vampire
Slayer.

I have made it my mission to try and score wins during Storyline
events. I am getting close. =)

I see others have also taken up the cause as well.

There are others who could give you details why they were excluded,
however, I applaud the WW Efforts to give us !Tre players, some
smatterings with each expansion.

I would love more support, but I think the Evil Writer Dude is
subverting the efforts of this clan's return. =)

Hi,
I've just joined the group and I was hoping to get some feedback
on a little article i've researched. Your thoughts please. Thanks.

Mark.

Discipline wise, the Ventrue Antitribu are somewhat underpowered.
They have four vampires at or above 8 Cap and only two of them have
the full compliment of Clan disciplines at the advanced level.
What's more, the single advanced discipline they are both missing, is
Fortitude, (they both have it at basic). The other two vampires are
the only ones in the Clan that have all the Clan disciplines at
advanced level; that's two out of sixteen, and they're both at 9 Cap,
or better! The 5 Cap Ventrue Antitribus are particularly weak.
There are three of them and only one has a single advanced
discipline; the other two have all their Clan disciplines at the
basic level. Even the 6 Caps are poor; two of them have two Clan
disciplines at advanced level, admittedly, but the third has them all
at basic. Also, the two 7 Cap Ventrue Antitribus can only muster two
advanced level disciplines each.
By way of contrast, the Malkavian Antitribus have six vampires with
all the Clan disciplines at advanced level, starting with a 6 Cap and
progressing onwards. The Brujah Antitribus have four vampires with
all the Clan disciplines at advanced level, starting with a 7 Cap and
progressing onwards. The Nosferatu Antitribus have a similar amount
of vampires with all the Clan disciplines at advanced level, starting
with a 6 Cap. The other major Sabbat Clans are all similar to the
above and better than the Ventrue Antitribus.
As far as titled vampires are concerned, the Ventrue Antitribu are
found wanting once again. The Brujah Antis, Malkavian Antis and
Tzimisce, all have five titled vampires. The Toreador Antis have six
titled vampires and the Lasombra and Nosferatu Antis have seven
each. The Tremere and Gangrel Antitribus are on a par with the
Ventrue Antitribus, with four titled vampires each.
Additionally, the Ventrue Antitribus only gain titled vampires at 8
Cap, or better. The Nosferatu Antitribus have two Bishops, both at a
5 Cap! They then progress through a 7 Cap, an 8 Cap and two 10
Caps. The Brujah Antis; Gangrel Antis; Lasombra; Toreador Antis,
Tremere Antis and Tzimisce, all have vampires with titles starting at
a 6 Cap. Finally, for the major Sabbat Clans, the Malkavian Antis
have their titled vampires starting at a 7 Cap.
So, if you couple the lack of advanced disciplines, with the
relative lack of titled vampires, combined with the fact that those
titled vampires only begin at an 8 Cap, then the Ventrue Antitribus
must be one of, (based on this information), if not the weakest major
Clan in the Sabbat, let alone in the game.
