I would suggest that you quickly blu tac the figures onto temporary bases so you can do some test games.
VB is great fun - I haven't played for a while but will be playing again in the New Year.

I'm hopeless with email so I joined this group in my wifes name. I
have been playing ancients since 1980 ish. My favorite rules were
Slims ancients which was very popular in Edinburgh. I have a very
large 20mm army of greeks and persians sadly lacking in cavalry at the
moment. Opponents in Devon (Holesworthy area) are like hens teeth,
those who play are DBA types.
I have bought Vis bellica and think it will be the best set of rules
yet. I cannot attempt to play these rules until I re base my figures
which are on pennies. I intend to set them on 12cm x 6cm bases with
10, 7, and 5 infantry and 5, 4 and 3 cavalry.
