Kelly listens in silence to everything that Marissa and Blodwyn say,
pondering everything before speaking. Of course, she is also very
careful not to step on Marissa's toes or to offend the higher-ranking
Garou in any way. Yeah, she's well aware of her place in Garou
society as a lowly Bone Gnawer, the lowest tribe in Garou society,
and her own rank just barely above that of a Cub. The only ones in
Garou society who might be treated worse than a low-ranking Bone
Gnawer are the Metis, those poor deformed creatures born of the
forbidden mating between two Garou. Yeah, Kelly has learned when to
speak and when not to speak, although like most Bone Gnawers, she
loathes the "I'm better than you" hierarchy within Garou society that
is often governed not by deeds and earned rank, but by station at
birth. At least the Black Furies give her some measure of respect
because she's female.

"Marissa-rhya is right. There ain't no way ta go back ta New York
now. Once ya in Omega, ya stay in Omega 'til Omega is done with ya.
Things ain't neveh gonna be da way dey wuz. Ya's Garou now.
Trueblood. Ain't none of us dat's CHOSEN ta be whut we are. We're
jus' born dat way. We're born eitheh Trueblood or Kinfolk, but we
don' know which 'til the day dat we have our First Change. Den we
know fer sure which one we is. 'Course fer many of us, it comes as a
shock. My parents neveh told me 'bout da Garou an' dat dere wuz a
pos'bil'ty dat I might be one. 'Course dey might not 'ave known,
neitheh. We wuz jus' 'po' white traileh trash'. Poppa wuz a mean
drunk an' beat momma an' me....'til I had my First Change an'
killed 'em."

Kelly shakes herself to shake the memories away.

"Ya can't neveh go back ta da way things wuz. Ya Garou now. It's our
duty ta protect Gaia, an' ta protect Omega. It's whut we wuz created
fer. Gaia created us ta be Her Warriors, an' dat we will be 'til we
die. We can't be nuthin' else. It's whut we iz. Whut we were born ta
be. Marissa-rhya is right. 'Til ya learn ta control da Rage, yer a
dangeh ta yerself an' othehs. An' since yer Garou, da enemies of Gaia
an' Omega will hunt ya down an' eitheh recruit ya ta their side or
kill ya. Dyin' would be da best of da two. Dose Spirals were prob'ly
tryin' ta recruit ya, when Omega stepped in an' brought ya here ta
save ya. I ain't seen none of it myself, but I've heard dat da
Spirals torture deir captives an' recruits 'til dey drive 'em insane,
like da rest of 'em. Ya best way ta survive now is ta learn all dat
our elders and da Spirits teach ya."
