Tamara stepped out of the shower and dried off and slipped into a worn, but comfortable robe. She unpinned her hair and let it hang loose, enjoying the freedom her privacy gave her. The freedom to be just Tamara, not Commander Sheldon, the Executive Officer
She walked over to a cabinet and pulled out a crystal decanter and a matching glass, one of the few things that she had that wasn't Starfleet issue. It had been a gift from her grandfather. He had given her the set, a family heirloom, when she made Lt. Commander. At least someone in the family had cared enough to celebrate. She poured the aged liquor from the decanter into the glass, took a sip and savored the burn as it slid down her gullet.
But she shook off the memories that threatened to invade her quarters, and instead sat down at her computer and pulled up reports of the YAMATO's first trek to Draken IV.
She read the account of the CINGULAR and the UNS ships. How they had been destroyed before either knew what hit them. Would they face the same problems?
Tamara had arrived just after the YAMATO had gotten to Draken IV. She had only viewed some of the horrors that had occured there. But she had seen what the virus could do to those that were unlucky enough to get it.
They'd lost at least 6 crew members. The whole ship had been quarantined, but they had managed to develop a serum that almost worked.
Almost, because no one was sure if the 6 dead died because of the serum or because of the vivrus. No one knew why some took ill, while it seemed the virus passed others by, why some of those that caught it, were only mildly sick, while others were violently ill.
These questions and others would need to be addressed this time. Whatever had effected the habitants of the planet and the ships passing through had to be stopped. Ava Pearson and her team were there to find those answers.
At the thought of Pearson, Tamara took a sip of her drink. Pearson knew a lot about her. Too much for just a casual interest. Looking around, as if someone might be lurking just around the corner, Tamara accessed Pearson's records.
Pearson had gone to Northwestern University. The same college that Ty McGee had gone to. Tamara dug a little deeper and found out that Pearson seemed to have been at a lot of places where the handsome Dr. McGee was also.
She got up and poured herself another drink and everything began to add up. Ty had been seeing Ava Pearson at the same time that they had been living together. Red splotches appeared before her eyes.
"That witch had the nerve to get in my face in the mess hall, knowing she had slept with Ty while we were together. First I'm going to kill Tyvonnis McGee, then I'm going to kill that heifer." Tamara said angrily.
She calmed herself. Then pulled up the rest of the reports about Draken IV. But her concentration was broken. All she could think of was how to get even with Ty and Ava.

USS YAMATO: Polishing Up

Reon slammed another PADD on the desk in frustration.
It was the last of a number of reports that had needed his attention
during the day, and just as the previous ones, it didn't seem to have
been able to satisfy him a bit. It was of those days, when everything
seemed to be less than good, no matter how long you were staring at it.
His comm badge chirped.
[[Bridge to Ensign Seelee, Washington speaking]]
He recognized the voice of the new OPS officer, and let out a small
breath of relief. The fact that neither the Captain or Commander Sheldon
were actually calling him, made the communication a lot less worrying.
"Seelee here, go ahead Lieutenant.", he answered.
[[I am giving a round up to all senior officers as per request of
Commander Sheldon on our new ETA for Draken IV. We expect to be there
tomorrow morning at 0600.]]
A quick glance at the chronometer on his desk revealed that their
arrival was less than 10 and a half hours ahead. Not as much as anyone
would have liked, probably. Time to prepare for a new mission was never
enough, for anybody.
"Understood Lieutenant, thank you. Seelee out.", he closed the link and
leaned back in his chair.
Nobody knew exactly what to expect. He hadn't been aboard the YAMATO
during its previous visit, but he had come to the conclusion that even
those that were, weren't sure about what was waiting for them.
Uncertainty is most definitely one of the biggest enemy for a Security
officer, but apparently was something always on the menu of any
Starfleet officer no matter the time of day. He just needed some time to
get used to it.
The chiming of the door brought him back to reality.
He straightened himself on the chair, and invited his guest to come in.
Ensign Nilsoon entered the office, PADD in hand and a big grin on her
face. The grin grew even bigger when she saw the shape her Chief was in.
"Don't look that happy, Nilsoon. This is not a grumpy face, this is
Starfleet issued facial expression 4756-beta2. It is issued to every
senior officer on any given starfleet, who are required to wear it when
submerged but this much depressing paperworks.", Reon gestured toward
the pile of PADDs waiting on his desk.
She handed over her PADD. "This is going to help you with that, sir. As
a matter of fact, it's pretty good reading."
"Ah! That would be something new for the day, what have we got here?",
he said taking a quick look at the content of the device.
"It's the latest report on the drills we've been running ship wide. The
quarantine drills have been pretty efficient, we've reached an
efficiency of more than 94.6%, and we've been able to lock down critical
part of the ship in less than 4 minutes." She turned around the desk,
peaking now over his shoulder and pointing and some data on the PADD.
"From the first report of an airborne contamination from the Medical
Department, we should be able to deploy containment teams in full bio
suits at all the critical location on the ship needed to assure both
operability and security. I surely hope we won't be using all this
stuff, but we've been able to increase the response time by a 4.5% with
respect of the standard procedure."
Reon scrolled to the end of the report, happy that his deputy had
summarized it for him. "Pretty good, ensign. Actually, pretty damn good
for something put together in less than 36 hours. You've done a fine
job."
She nodded. "We have all, if I may sir. We are as ready as we could be
with such a short notice."
"And that's good," he answered standing up. "I've just received news
from OPS that we've a new ETA for tomorrow morning at 0600. I guess this
was your dress rehearsal after all. We'd better give everybody not on
duty right now a good evening out, hoping they'll have enough time to
manage their hangovers by tomorrow morning."
"Will do, sir." Anna slowly walked toward the door, just to stop in
front of it. She turned around.
"What about you, Chief? Gonna have some time off too?"
He scratched his head, messing up what was left of his 'standard hair
attire'. "These are not going to sort out by themselves..." he pointed
at his desk.
"I understand. But if you were to change your mind, or to use your
phaser to get rid of all those PADDs early enough, I'm meeting with
Tokath and Jameson in the mess hall for a couple of shots and some
laughs." she smiled, nodded, and left the room.
The bajoran looked at the desk, and then at the closing door.
Maybe the phaser was not really an option, not if he wanted to keep his
job for another day, but he could sure use a bit of off time. Paying a
visit to the mess hall could probably be squeezed in his evening
schedule. Just between feeding the starving feline entity inhabiting
his quarters and processing at least half of that paperwork.
It could work, after all.

After the ship hit warp 8 Kristopher finally sat back down in the center chair. He couldn't help
but remember what had happened last time with the disappearing star base and the Androids.
" At least they knew what was happening but why and who they were being sent to find out, "
which were the questions going through his head.
Kristopher's lack of sleep was starting to catch up with him even though he would get up and
walk around the bridge doing his best to keep alert of things going on. His persistence had
worked for almost the whole day shift but in the end he had to give in. He told Tamara he
was going to get some sleep and headed for his quarters to grab a few hours at least that's
what he hoped. Arriving in his quarters he took off his uniform and dropped into bed a very
tired person. As tired as he was Kristopher tossed and turned trying to get settled for
some much needed rest. Finally he drifted off but it wasn't a sound sleep. He kept having
dreams about the first time the ship was at Draken IV and what happened.
The man only slept about 5 hrs and he was up feeling like he'd slept only two if that. Getting
himself a cup of tea he decided he had to do something to relax so he got the thought about
the holodeck. Looking in a special case he had he pulled out a blue outfit with white piping
on the selves of the sweat shirt and down the long pants The shoes almost looked like ballet
shoes as they had no hard soles to them. Kristopher changed notified Sparks he'd be in
holodeck one grabbed a small round container that had a white powder on it and was out
the door.
Reaching the holodeck he told the computer to run program " mountain 1 " and entered to find
his mountain staring at him with all of it's obstacles. Opening the small container he put some
white powder on his hands rubbing it in as he studied what was before him as it had been a fairly longtime since he had run the program. " He use to do this without the safety controls
on, but times had changed and he was the CO of the ship now. It would still help him relax, "
he thought as he took his first steps up.
Kristopher was finding that he had forgotten where to step and grab hold with his hands as he progressed up. He knew one thing, " he wasn't in the best of shape for what he was doing.
The man found himself having to stop more than usual The further he went up his muscles were beginning to ache and he knew that it was time for him to start working out in the ships
gym. When he reached the top the sweat was pouring off of him and his breathing was
harder than it should be.
Kristopher sat on the top of that mountain knowing he had changes to be made. " He'd been
sitting in his chair more than he should and was going to do something about it, " he told
himself as he started climbing down. Of course the climb down was easier than going up
but he still had to look for holds so he wouldn't slip. In time he finally was at the bottom of
his mountain and found out though feeling very tired he felt more relaxed than when he had
started. " It's amazing what a little mountain climbing can do to relax a person, " he thought
I don't know if you intended this, but it could be interpreted in 2
ways:
Ava Pearson came out of the mess hall behind Tamara, a smug
smile
on her face. It had always galled her that Ty would never leave Tamara
for her. Now she'd get her revenge.
1. That Ava is going to try to drive Ty and Tamara apart so that she
(Ava) can have him, or
2. She's going to get her revenge on both of them by driving them
together so they commit to a long-term relationship where they can
snipe at each other often at close range.
Personally, I think that the latter is more severe punishment. :-)

Folks,
I'm going to be traveling for business most of the next week, and the week after
is Thanksgiving. So, I'll likely be a little slow to post or respond to emails

eventually see things and act on them.
Mary: I have an AMBERJACK post about half done, but I'm not certain when I'll

Departing on a new mission never got old for Tamara. As she sat on the bridge, watching the helmsman go through the routine to get them out and away from the station, she felt like a little girl at Christmas again.
The anticipation tied her stomach in knots. And the view of the station as they hit the jump gate and prepared to go to warp, always left her breathless. But she tried hard to remember that she was now an Executive Officer on one of the best ships, in one of the best Fleets in all of Starfleet.
She had always loved being a Starfleet offiver. But after being transferred to Silver Fleet over a year before, she realized just how much she loved her job. Of course it still had it's moments, but for the most part the good far out weighed the bad.
Ian was finally getting some much needed rest, so Tamara had held down the bridge until time for the night shift to replace the day shift.
The doors to the bridge swooshed open and Lt. Douglas Washington stepped onto the bridge. Tamara stood up and said, "Lt. Washington, welcome to your first duty shift as OPS officer. If anything arises, please contact Commander McGregor or myself at once."
"Yes, Ma'am." Washington said.
"Lt. Yeager, ETA to Draken IV?" Tamara asked.
"We should enter the space over Draken IV at about 0600 hours tomorrow Commander." The Helmsman said.
"Very good. Keep us posted if that changes. Lt. Washington, welcome to the USS YAMATO, you have the bridge." Tamara stepped down and headed for the door.
The doors opened and she exited the bridge. She headed to the mess hall to get something to eat. Usually she ate in her quarters, but tonight she wanted to be out and among the crew.
The ship was still bustling as new personnel tried to get settled in and there had of course, been the usual chaos which was intensified because of their sudden deployment. What usually took a week to get on board had been done in a matter of hours.
So as she walked down the corridors, there were still people trying to find their quarters, supplies that hadn't been inventoried yet was stacked all up and down the corridors. She understood the urgency to get to the planet, but this was ridiculous.
She entered the mess hall, got a plate of food and found a table. Even here it was chaotic. The kitchen staff were as rushed and disorganized as the rest of the departments.
The door of the mess hall opened and Ava Pearson walked in. She stopped a moment to look around, then got a cup of coffee amd headed straight for Tamara's table.
"Commander Sheldon isn't it? Mind if I sit down?" She asked with a smile.
"Yes, I'm Commander Sheldon. No, I don't mind." Tamara said.
Ava slid into the vcacant seat, took a sip of her coffee, giving her time to access Tamara Sheldon.
Tamara remained silent, taking a bit of her food.
"I was very happy when they gave me this assignment." Ava said, pushing her hair back from her face. "I'm looking forward to the mission. You just never know what you'll find on a mission like this."
"No you never do." Tamara said.
Ava paused, then said, "I heard about the trouble you had in Cochrane Fleet. Nasty business. But I can't believe that Warren Brickford would really stoop that low. My Daddy plays golf with his father and grandfather all the time. They were appalled at the allegations."
Tamara picked up the glass of tea and took a long sip. "I really don't care who golfs with who, or who kisses whose ass. Warren Brickford is a prick. And one day, and I hope very soon, someone is going to stop the bastard. My only sorrow at that is that I won't be there to spit on his rotten carcass."
"My, my we're a little bitter arent' we?" Ava said, with a tight smile.
"Hell no, WE aren't anything. But I hate the bastard, and if I thought I could get away with gutting him and not serving time, I'd do it in a heart beat. And you're welcome to tell your daddy that, so that when he's brown nosing with Brickford's old man and his senile grandfather, he can tell them that also."
Tamara got up and picked up her plate and glass and started towards the recycler, Ava decided to get in one more punch. "Seems you're always having trouble with men. I hear Ty McGee dumped you too."
Tamara stopped and turned towards Ava Pearson. "Dr. Pearson let me explain one thing to you. You are NOT a Starfleet officer. You ARE on a Starfleet vessel. I AM the Executive Officer of said vessel. You can make this an easy mission or you can make it hard for yourself. The choice is yours. And remember, if you back me into a corner, I come out swinging. I don't give a flying fig who your daddy plays golf with."
She threw the dishes in the recycler and turned and left the mess hall. She was fuming as she started towards her quarters. She thought about going to sick bay and give Ty McGee an earful, but as mad as she was, she would probably shoot him. So she headed to her quarters to cool off.
Ava Pearson came out of the mess hall behind Tamara, a smug smile on her face. It had always galled her that Ty would never leave Tamara for her. Now she'd get her revenge.
MD: 1.1630 - Sickbay
Ensign Jordan Stern picked his way through the mess that filled Sickbay.
He passed Dr. Ava Pearson as she headed in the other direction.
She seemed to be in a good mood, which meant that either Dr. McGee
didn't hit on her, or that she enjoyed it. Jordan couldn't decide which
from the enigmatic look on her face.
He reached Ty's office door and tapped on the frame.
Ty looked up and said, "I've got a big enough mess on my hands already,
so you can turn around and go away."
Jordan smiled, "They you won't get to hear the good news."
"You have good news?" Ty asked. Jordan nodded. "For me?"
"Yeah," Jordan replied. "We've gotten all the other supplies stowed in
cargo bay 2."
"Other supplies? You mean there's more?"
"This stuff," Jordan gestured behind him, "is for rapid response.
There's a lot more available, if you need it."
"I can't keep track of all this stuff. How am I supposed to keep track
of more?" Ty sighed with a hint of exasperation in his voice.
"Ah," Jordan said stepping farther into the office, "That I can help
with." He walked over to Ty's desk, "This thing is a computer terminal.
You can use it," Jordan tapped an icon, "to access the database that
will tell you what we have and where everything is."
"Very funny, Stern. I know how to use the computer. Now go away so I
can get some stuff done."
Jordan turned to leave, but then hesitated and turned back around. "My
curiosity is killing me. When I saw Dr. Pearson, she didn't look like
many women do when they leave your office after you hit on them."
"That's," Ty said, "because she hit on me."
Jordan's mouth dropped open, but no sound came out.
"Now keep that to yourself, and get out of my office."
Jordan pointed at Ty, "I will buy you a beer, and you will tell me the
story, because I don't believe it."

The ship had just pulled out from SB EPSILON, but already things were crazy in sick bay. The quartermaster had sent over so many supplies that there was no where to put them all, and getting an accurate inventory was nearly impossible. In addition, new pesonnel had been assigned only hours before the ship left, and now Ty was trying to find out where every one fit. Not to mention, the lack of sleep for the week they had been on EPSILON, and the god-awful hangover that he had now were trying to descend on him with all their fury.
And every time the door opened, he jumped. He knew sooner or later that Ava Pearson would come down to see him. His only hope was that Tamara didn't know about their past. His roommate when he played in the NBA had told him that sooner or later your sins always find you out. When Ava Pearson had stood up at the briefing, he knew that his had came home to roost.
He'd immediately thought of just leaving the ship. Just walk away, and keep walking. Nothing Starfleet could do to him, would be as bad as having to work with Ava and Tamara on the same ship. Things were going to get ugly....FAST.
"Dr. McGee?"
Ty almost jumped out of his skin. He spilled coffee all over the front of his lab coat. "Yes? And stop sneaking up on me like that."
"I'm sorry." The woman said, looking at Ty curiously. "I'm Rita Sloan. I was told to report to you." She handed him the PADD with her info on it.
Ty grabbed a towel and tried to wipe some of the spilled coffee off his coat. "Lt. Rita Sloan." He said reading off the PADD. Been in Starfleet for almost 20 years."
"Yes, Sir. Worked for a lot of good doctors on a lot of good ships. This will probably be my last assignment. Then I'm turning in my papers. My daughter lives in Florida with her two kids. Time I settled down and played grandma to the little brats." Rita said.
"Ok. You're my new Head Charge Nurse." Ty said.
"Thank you Dr. McGee." Rita said.
"Your first order of business is to fire my Physician's assistant." Ty said with a grin.
"Fire your P.A? Why?" Rita asked, wondering what the hell she'd stepped into.
"Just kidding. He's a pain in my butt, and I don't like him. But I lack the authority to fire him. But anyway, welcome aboard, Lieutenant Sloan." He held out his hand.
"Please call me Rita. Everyone said you were nuts. Now I believe them." Rita said, as the door opened.
"Nuts, yes. Handsome, yes. Shallow and definitely committment shy, But you can't help but love him." Ava Pearson said.
"Ava. Nice to see you again. This is Rita, my new charge nurse. Rita, this is Dr. Ava Pearson. She's with the UHO." Ty said, perspiration sliding down his back beneath his shirt.
"Nice to meet you Dr. Pearson." Rita said. "Dr. McGee, where would you like me to start?"
He picked up several PADDs and handed them to her. "This is the inventory we're supposed to have aboard. Good luck."
Rita looked at the PADDs, then back at McGee. "Maybe I should have went ahead and retired before this assignment. All right, I'll find your inventory."
Ava waited until the door closed, then said, "And you've just driven another poor woman insane. Must be that famous McGee charm. How have you been Ty?"
McGee sat down in his chair and said, "I'm fine. And it really is good to see you again, Ava. I heard you'd joined the UHO."
Pearson sat down on the corner of his desk, and studied him a moment before saying, "Yes, I did. When they gave me this assignment, I didn't know that you were aboard. But I did know that Tamara was. How's that working out?"
Ty rubbed his hand over his face and said, "It's working out pretty good."
"Does she know about us?" Ava asked.
Ty shrugged. "I don't know. You never know with Tamara." He leaned forward and said, "But Ava, I'd consider it a special favor, if you didn't mention anything to her. Tamara isn't exactly the kind of woman that you want to piss off."
"Back when we were together, it didn't seem to bother you then." Ava's dark eyes swept over Ty. "In fact, cheating on her with me, seemed to turn you on. If I remember correctly."
"Yes, but back then, she didn't have a phaser and wasn't as skilled at using one. And she wasn't the Executive Officer of the ship I was working on. I don't think either of us can afford to alienate her." He said, realizing that this was going to be a very long mission indeed.
Ava swung her hips off the desk and said, "Ty, do you really think I'd do anything to cause you trouble?" She stood on tip toes, planted a quick kiss on his lips and left the office.
Ty stood there and looked up towards the heavens and said, "Ok, I gave half the money I won gambling to charity. I called my Mom last week. Ok, so I lied to her about attending church, but come on, give me a break. You and I both know that having Ava Pearson and Tamara Sheldon on this ship isn't going to bode well for Ty McGee. What is this? Some kind of a test? Or is it your way of getting even?"
Ian was glad he and Tamara had their little talk. He understood how she felt as things in his past had caused him to feel his future was uncertain at times and being CO didn't help things much.
Getting himself and cup of coffee, which was now his third one, he looked out the window of his office wondering what lay head for his ship and crew. Thoughts of the last time the ship had
been at Draken IV brought to memory of the people that were lost. The worst thing he hated
being Captain of the ship was notifying the loved ones of crew members who had been killed
while on a mission. " Well there would be nobody to tell if anything happened to me, " he
thought making a last mental check before the ship left port.
He knew Tamara would be on the bridge making sure everything was ready to go for departure.
" She was a good officer and exec and he wouldn't lose her if he could help it, " thinking to
himself and taking one more sip of his coffee before being on the bridge. Arriving on the bridge
Ian looked at Commander Sheldon,
Bridge: 1430 hours
<<"Status report, Commander."
Tamara looked at the display in the arm of her chair, "All systems are showing green for departure."
"Very well," Ian replied standing in front of his chair and turning back toward the view screen, "Ensign, take us out, thrusters only."
"Aye, Sir." Jon tapped a control, and the YAMATO slowly pulled away from the docking ring. "We are clear, and adjusting course."
The YAMATO rotated and the docking bay doors came into view ahead of the ship.>>
" Very good. Steady as she goes. " Ian said standing in front of his chair as the ship slowly made it's way as the big docking doors slowly opened allowing the Yamato to pass through.
The man felt like he was on the bridge of a old sailing ship as it headed out to sea. To him
there was no greater feeling as the Yamato headed out into space.
" Mr Shepard, take us to full impulse speed till we reach the jump gate then take us to warp
8. We're needed at Draken IV in a hurry so don't spare the horses. "
" Aye sir. " The young man's hand smoothly moved over his console making his settings.
" Course and speed set in Captain, " the helmsman answered.
Ian took a quick look around the bridge at his crew then, " alright helm let's make this lady
fly. Engage. And with that the ship went to full impulse until the jump gate then shot ahead to warp 8 heading for Draken IV and the unknown.
MD: 1.1410 - YAMATO
Chief D'lyn Tran stood at the main console in Engineering and looked over the
display again. "All readings are nominal, Sir. I'd say we're ready for anything
you ask us for."
At the Engineering station on the Bridge, Ensign Jordan Stern nodded, "That
matches what I see here, Chief. Just watch the intermix ratio when we go to
impulse. It'll sometimes get a little matter lean."
"Understood. I'll make sure we don't run with an excess of antimatter."
Jordan nodded, even though D'lyn had no way to see it and turned to Ensign
Jonathan Shepard, "There ya go, Ensign. The ship is ready for departure."
Jon checked off another item on the pre-flight on his PADD, and nodded, "Thanks,
Stern."
Jordan smiled, "No problem, Shepard."
"Are you two done up there?" LCDR Tamara Sheldon asked, "We have a schedule to
keep."
"Yes, Ma'am," Jordan replied crisply, then he leaned in close to Jon and
whispered, "Smile when you walk past her. It makes her think you're up to
something."
Jon affixed a frown on his face that almost made Lieutenant Cassandra Stephens
laugh when she saw it. She put a hand in front of her mouth so that no one
could see her smile.
With frown firmly attached, Jon walked down the ramp on the starboard side of
the bridge and settled into his seat at the Flight Control station. The frown
was still there, forgotten as Jon finished the last few items on his checklist,
when Captain Ian Mcgreggor emerged from his Ready Room. He saw Jon's frown and
wondered what the young pup had done to deserve it. He considered asking about
it for a moment, but decided to get down to business. "Status report,
Commander."
Tamara looked at the display in the arm of her chair, "All systems are showing
green for departure."
"Very well," Ian replied standing in front of his chair and turning back toward
the viewscreen, "Ensign, take us out, thrusters only."
"Aye, Sir." Jon tapped a control, and the YAMATO slowlypulled away from the
docking ring. "We are clear, and adjusting course."
The YAMATO rotated and the docking bay doors came into view ahead of the ship.
Jordan was pleased that his systems were performing as expected, but not looking
forward to dealing with a virus - a problem that a phaser wouldn't help with.

FEDERICO COLNAGO (XO USS CIRCE)-Newly assigned to GOLD, Federcio has already impressed the command staff of the Fleet with his ideas, enthusiasm and imagination. Hard working and an excellent writer, Federico was willing to be assigned anything in the Fleet and has fit in perfectly.
MARCO MUELLER (COU/CMO USS CIRCE)- Marco' s outstanding writing and dedicated, consistent playing style
has allowed him to continue the tradition of quality writing on the CIRCE. He has shown the creativity and style that all good ships require to remain of a high quality.
ANTJE BECHTOLDT (OPS US DAEDALUS)- Although her group's activity was slow, Antje took the time to write excellent posts and to further her ships' story even through the difficulties the ship faced in the lack of posting. Her writing was superb and her activities were noticed by many members of the group - so much so that she was recruited into another Fleet. Her presence will be sorely missed from GOLD.
------------ --------- -- SILVER FLEET-
MARK MOSHER (USS ANDROMEDA)- Mark got a strong start on the Andromeda and is developing an interesting character. He's a welcome addition to our crew.
TIM SOWARDS (USS ANDROMEDA)- Tim continues to be an active player, ready to build plots and develop storylines when
they come to a standstill.
EBONI WHITE (USS YAMATO)-Her character keeps everyone on their toes. They never know when she's going to explode. She and Scott Ramos' characters are sort of a good cop/bad cop mix. Guess who's always the bad cop?
ALTON REICH (USS YAMATO)-Alton has brought several NPCs to the YAMATO and the diversity that the ship needs to keep story lines interesting
FEDERICO COLANGO(USS AMBERJACK)- Federico adds the right amount of spice to this unit. And he always comes up with just the right scientific jargon when we need him to.
LENA ROSE(USS AMBERJACK/SB SAIKAI)-Although she's not writing her Xenia Rivers character at the moment, Lena' s portrayal of the troubled woman that finally found love was amazing. Had to bring out the hankie once in awhile. Lena continues to give 110% as the CMO of SAIKAI. Her storylines on the station, as well as those on the NPV
COVENTRY continue to enrich both the station's story and the destroyer's story as well.
------------ --------- -- BLUE FLEET-
ROB MEIER (CMO USS FEARLESS)Rob has the ability to seamlessly blend story elements from others into his narrative. But it is his crafting of character interactions that pull the reader in and make you care about whether the characters live or die that is the mark of a true writer.
MARRKU HERD (FCO USS VALHALLA)-Markku has been with the ship from the beginning and his creativity, drive, willingness to go that extra mile for the game, and unswerving humor has made the job of the CO and XO that much easier. It is a highlight of the day whenever his posts are sent to the list and his writing is exceptional. He is vital to the health and well being of the ship, in character and in reality.
BRYAN BARTLETT (ENG USS PERSEPHONE)- Bryan brings interesting to a whole
new level. He is an "out-of-the- box" thinker who posts plot movers as well as character development. He's a creative writer and a prolific one.
------------ --------- -- ORIGINS-
ROGER BEDFORD (BO'SUN, USS CONSTELLATION) - Mr. Bedford's portrayal of the "below decks" aspect of life on CONNIE has been inspired and fun. His characters are of a different breed, that of the enlisted officer, and he handles the distinction- and everything that implies- brilliantly. Adept at dropping hooks for other players.
STEVE APPLE (CMO, USS HOOD)- Mr. Apple brings a bit of a the flavor of Texas to the HOOD in the form of Dr. Stile Corbett. Larger-than- life himself, like his home, Dr. Corbett has had a major impact on HOOD's storylines- all courtesy of Mr. Apple. A gifted writer who has created a lot of fun while portraying a down-home doctor in a Starfleet uniform.
GREG VAN DER MAAS (HELM, USS INTREPID)-
Mr. Van Der Maas, despite being new to the game, has embraced everything that makes writing in ASR fun for everyone: pushing the plot forward with creativity, dropping hooks for other writers, and picking them up when left for him. A great example for new writers to follow.
WENDON PETTEY (CMO, USS LEXINGTON)- Mr. Pettey has been the most prolific of the non-command players on LEXINGTON, a feat that in and of itself is worthy of recognition. However, his portrayal of the felinoid Dr. Brighteyes has been nothing short of unique. An outstanding job.
------------ --------- --------- OUTSTANDING NEW WRITER AWARD ------------ --------- --------- ORIGINS-
JAIRED BIRKS (HELM, USS CONSTELLATION) - Mr. Birks has become, in a very short time amongst a veteran crew, and indispensible part of the crew. His character is pleasantly original, his self-immersion into the plot is a model for all writers,
and his ability to pick up hooks and push the plot forward speak of a writer with far more experience in this style of writing than he actually has.
SUSANNE DUBROV (OPS DS13)- Susanne' s dedication to the game has brought her to the attention of the CINCGOLD and because of her excellence in writing, her maturity as a player, and her no-nonsense attitude on DS13, she has been assigned as the new CO of the USS CIRCE. With her command staff, she has already righted the ship and got it off in an outstanding direction.
------------ --------- - SILVER FLEET-
SCOTT RAMOS(USS YAMATO) and MARKKU HERD(USS ANDROMEDA)-Scott had never been in a command position until I begged and pleaded and blackmailed him into this one. He's had to learn as he goes, but he's doing a great job.
Markku, had to take over the ANDROMEDA when Karen left, and he's doing a great job as the oh so tolerant Captain.
ANNA CORDRAY(SB SAIKAI)- Anna has done an outstanding job holding down the fort for Ed Bell while he was away on deployment. With out her presence, the station probably would have folded while he was away.
------------ --------- - BLUE FLEET-
STEFAN WIEDNER (XO USS VALHALLA)-Stefan has been a solid rock for the last few months as the ship was suffering through a mostly absent Captain. He has stepped up, come up with an adventure for the crew, and has steered the ship while the CO was away. He is steadfast and dedicated to the crew and to the ship and always available when needed for regular RP or JPs.
GABRIEL WECKESSER (CO USS FEARLESS)-As a guest writer and now as a 'regular' and our new CO, Gabriel has breathed life into the writing on FEARLESS and challenged us all to
achieve great things by his example--and done it all with good humor and boundless enthusiasm.
WENDON PETTEY (CO USS PERSEPHONE)- PERSEPHONE launched just before the last RT. Since then, she has gone through growing pains. Wendon has used his experience as a story leader -- both in plot development and by drawing the best out of his writers -- to recruit new players and to energize the remaining members of the original team to revitalize PERSEPHONE.
------------ --------- - ORIGINS-
ANDY CATTERICK (CO, USS HOOD)- Mr. Catterick continues to set an example of what an effective commander does: motivates posting, gets the most from his players, and inspires creativity and fun.
ROB MEIER (XO, USS CONSTELLATION) - Mr. Meier has been the backbone of CONSTELLATION since his arrival. His keeping of the mission timeline has not only been tireless, but absolutely critical. Finally, his post-writing
elegantly balances pushing the plot forward with leaving appropriate hooks to others to inspire posting. An outstanding First Officer.
SCOT LUSBY (COMORIGINS) - Scott has long been a major force in ASR as he follows his goal to make the group a creative, vibrant and fun organization. His latest endeavour, the creation and implementation of the new ORIGINS Fleet, is another example of his hard work. Under his guidance ORIGINS has become a strong and productive part of ASR as a whole in just a few short months. As part of his leadership Scott has brought together a diversive group of players who have worked hard to make it work. But no one would argue that it was Scott who made it all possible and will be the one to sheppard the fleet's continues success.
The
CINCGOLD has recognized the USS CIRCE for this recognition.
------------ --------- - SILVER FLEET-
USS ANDROMEDA... .The crew keeps coming up with some very original plots and the characters are a wonderful and creative mix.
------------ --------- - ORIGINS-
USS CONSTELLATION- The crew of the CONSTELLATION, by far, has posted the largest quantity of posts in ORIGINS, all without sacrificing quality in the process. They are the driving force of ORIGINS, with their classic plotlines and tones.
------------ --------- --------- MOST IMPROVED UNITS ------------ --------- --------- SILVER FLEET-
USS YAMATO...This unit and it's writers rallied round when this unit needed them and they managed to pull it from dry dock and back into being a very viable unit. With the addition of Alton and Federico once again the YAMATO is holding it's own.
BLUE FLEET-
USS
PERSEPHONE-Since the PERSEPHONE officially "launched" in April of this year, it has had a rough and difficult start, but it has overcome at last to be a unit with creative posting, a great crew, and an inspired plotline. She has truly shown her colors through the last few months, emerging to become a revitalized and viable unit.
ORIGINS-
USS LEXINGTON- the fact that this unit is up and posting at all is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Andrew F., its CO, and the crew. After being in limbo due to the loss of its initial CO, it has come back strong to become the 4th solid unit ORIGINS has to offer.
------------ --------- --------- SPECIAL RECOGNITION ------------ --------- ---------
MERITORIOUS ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE
TIM SOWARDS, ALTON REICH and ANDY CATTERICK- These three formed the initial core command players of ORIGINS, the ones laregely responsible for getting this
new fleet up and running instead of being just a concept on paper. Mr. Sowards was the single largest recruiter of players in ORIGINS as well as being the first player aside from the COMORIGINS to actually join the fleet; Mr. Reich and Mr. Catterick were integral parts in helping to form the plots and undertones of ORIGINS from the beginning, something that is now readily apparent to those who read ORIGINS posts.
ED BELL (SB SAIKAI)-The CINCSILVER also want to give an honorable mention to Ed Bell for keeping up with the story lines and writing when he could, even while he was in that country that ended in 'stan.
The GOLDEN DELTA
In the Army (a well as the other Branches) we have a tradition: Commanders, 1SGs, and Command Sergeants Major given out coins for a sorta of on-the-spot 'atta boy'. Soemtimes they are in lieu of an award, sometimes they are for taking part in special
events or deployments. These coins are usually a Commanders coin or the like and we in the military have what are called 'coin checks' at times to see who has the higher ranking coin (a two-stars coin as opposed to a colonal and so on.) I would like to start that tradition here by issuing the coin of the Commander Starfleet, which shall be known as the Golden Delta. It is a delta insignia shaped coin, gold in color and a little larger than a US silver dollar. On the back is the CINCSF's insignia, the words "Given for Excellence" the date, and the words "Ut Audacter Vado..." which is from the Starfleet Charter, To Boldly Go...
So...without any further fanfare I hereby, as the CINCSF, do hereby issue the following GOLDEN DELTAs to:
SCOTT LUSBY ANDY CATTERICK TIM SOWARDS ROB MEIER TIM COOKE ROGER BEDFORD ANDREW F. ALTON REICH LENA ROSE ANNA
CORDRAY
These writers have provided the leadership, guidence, and mentorship that has spurred the creation of some the most exciting stories and posts ASR has every seen. A few of them are currently making history all over again. My thanks to all of you for the hard work.
These coins are inspectable items and you may be asked to produce it. If you don't have it, you will be doing push-ups for them.:)
LENA ROSE- Lena has informed us of her intentions to go into semi-retirement. While she is scaled back her activity in ASR, she has indicated that she will remain active if she is needed. Soooo...happy semi-retirement, Lena.
Tamara watched as the Admiral and her handsome body guard headed off the ship. "Guess I'll go make sure that all the supplies are accounted for, so we can get out of here." Tess: She turned to head towards the Quartermaster's office.
" Commander Sheldon before you do that please come into my ready room, " Ian said as he headed in that direction. The man's voice had a slight edge to it which was quit noticeable. When they reached his office Ian sat in his chair and when he had things on his mind he would spin his chair around a couple of times. " Sit down Tamara, would you like something to drink? " he asked.
"No thank You, Commander. What's this about? I really need to make sure all departments have their supplies in." She said, slipping into a chair and crossing her legs. She had a feeling this was going to be one of those sit down talks.
Ian stopped his chair and looked at his second in
command. " Tamara what was that attitude about with Rexan? You should know better than mess with that woman. I told her I wanted you for my exec as I thought you'd make a good one. But you keep pushing the wrong buttons with the Admiral she'll have you polishing all the shuttles in the fleet. Exactly what is your problem? I'd hate to lose a good officer, " Ian said sounding frustrated.
Tamara rubbed a hand over her face, "I don't know, she just pushes all the wrong buttons with me. And this mission, we're being sent to a place where a virus maybe running rampant. We could all die."
Ian wasn't sure how to answer her but would try. " First the Admiral does that with everybody and you just have to grin and bear it as the saying goes. The woman really cares about her fleet and she's not happy about sending us back to Draken IV. I was the exec when we went there the first time and it wasn't pretty but this time we have more doctors that will be working with our science department. To tell you the truth I'm not thrilled about going back there myself, " his voice sounding not to sure about it himself. " And being who we are we have to not show we wished we were someplace else, " he said with a laugh.
"Yeah I know. But sometimes having to be silent just gripes my ass. I know I have to do it, but at least I want someone to know how I feel about it. I didn't mean to disrespect the admiral, or you. If you want me to, I will go over to her office and apologize. And get one more look at that fine looking
security officer that shadowing her."
Ian Laughed about her comment concerning the Admirals security officer. " You know everybody needs somebody to let their feelings out to, " as soon as he said that he thought about times Chris had said the same thing to him. " I don't except you to go over to the Admirals office and apologize and we don't have time for you to be checking out her security man. " Ian got up and walked around to the front of his desk. " Tamara your a damn good officer and exec and I don't want you popping off at the brass. You want to pop off come see me instead, " he said putting his hand on her shoulder.
"Ok, you got a deal. Now Commander I need to get to work. We have less than an hour to get this ship moving." She said, rising and heading towards the door
Ian watched his exec head towards the door. " Tamara check with LT Randal our OPS he should have everything just
about everything done. But if it takes a little more than an hour we'll arrive on time if we have to go a little faster, " he said with a smile.
She gave him a thumbs up signal as she headed off down the corridor. Her first stop would be medical.
Folks,
I'm having some relatively minor medical stuff done this Friday (i.e.
the probability of it killing me is fairly low). As a result, I might
spend the weekend feeling like crap, or I might not. If you contact me
over the weekend, and I don't respond, you'll know why.

"If there’s no great glorious end to all this, if nothing we do matters …
then all that matters is what we do." -- Angel, "Epiphanies"
Alexandria stepped out of her office into the outer office, briefcase in her good hand. "Ginny, I'll be aboard the USS YAMATO." She said.
The young man in the corner stood up.
"Who are you?" Rexan asked crossly.
"I'm....." He began, but was cut off by Ginny.
"Now Admiral Rexan, with everything that's going on around here, you can't be out on the station without protection. Now be reasonable and let Lt. Jefferies go with you to your briefing." Ginny said.
"Did I...or did I not say that I didn't want any more personal security until Dutch got back?" She said, giving Ginny a glaring look.
Ginny gave her a glare back and stood her ground. "Admiral Rexan, Lt. Jefferies is going with you. Don't make me call Admiral Rashar and report that you're not cooperating."
Knowing that she was beat, Alexandria said, "Tattle tale."
"Admiral, I'll stay out of your way, and you won't even know I'm there...unless you need me." Jefferies smiled at the woman
"Well, alright. But see that you stay out of my way." She said grudgingly.
Ginny said, "Lt. Jefferies, may I have a moment with you?"
Jefferies patted the Admiral's arm and said, "Don't leave without me."
He stepped over to where Ginny stood, and said, "Yes?"
"You probably need to know that the Admiral is armed. And from what I've heard, she's a pretty good shot. So just be careful." Ginny said. Then added, "And good luck."
"If I get through this day, would you consider having dinner with me to night after we get our little girl tucked in for the night?" Jefferies asked.
"If you get through this day in one piece, I'll have dinner with you. You will definitely have earned it." Ginny said with a smile.
"Gives me an incentive to make it." Gregory Jefferies said.
"Look you two can giggle and titter on your own blasted time. If you're going with me, you better come on." Alexandria said.
"Sorry Admiral." Greg said, reaching out and taking her briefcase, and holding out his arm for her.
She took the offered arm, then said, "You're very chivalrous, but I still don't need a personal security officer."
As they headed out the door, Lt. Jefferies said, "Admiral, you're a very important person. You're important to Silver Fleet, you're important to Starfleet, and you're very important to people like Ginny and Dutch. And if anything were to happen to you everyone would be very unhappy. And I consider it an honor to be assigned as your personal security officer."
"I know the world has changed. But I keep trying to hold on to a time when people in my position didn't need personal security. A handsome, strong young man like you should be on a star ship some where helping to keep the universe safe. Not here coddling some old broad." Rexan said, as they stepped into the lift.
"Whether I'm on a star ship, or here, I'm fulfilling my duties. I'm protecting and serving. And keeping you safe is helping to keep the universe safe from the bad guys." He smiled at her.
They arrived at the USS YAMATO and entered the ship. A security officer escorted her to Commander MvGregor's office.
She tapped on the door, and the man looked up, but he didn't look too happy to see her. But he stood up at attention. "Admiral Rexan, welcome. Please have a seat." He indicated a comfortable chair.
"Thank you, but I...we don't have the time for niceties. We need to get this briefing over with so you can get out of here. Your supplies should just about all be aboard. And if you're missing anything, let me know, I'll get it to you en route. Time is of the essence."
"I understand, Admiral." Ian said.
"Well, let's go get this show on the road." Rexan said.
As they exited Ian's officer, Tamara Sheldon joined them. "Nice to see you again, Admiral." She said. "I hope we're not in trouble this time."
"You wasn't when I got here, but looks like it could be headed that way." Rexan said.
Ian gave Tamara a dirty look, that said, "Keep your mouth shut."
Tamara took the hint.
They arrived at the briefing room, where the senior staff was assembled. Rexan noticed that Dr. Pearson had arrived and was sitting in the very back of the room.
She stepped up to the podium, Sheldon and McGregor stood to each side of her, Jefferies stood behind her. She cleared her throat and was about to begin when the door opened and Dr. McGee hurried in. He sat down in the first chair available and tried to be invisible. "Sorry." He mumbled.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, for those of you that don't know me, I'm Vice Admiral Alexandria Rexan. I am the CINC of Silver Fleet. The reason for my visit this afternoon is to give you a few brief details about your next mission."
A holographic map of Draken IV appeared and the Admiral said, "Eighteen months ago, the USS YAMATO was among a fleet of ships that were sent to investigate attacks on this area. The attackers were of a species that we had not, nor have we since encountered. We don't know why they attacked this planet, and we don't know if our presence drove them away. It is still wrapped in mystery. However, ships passing through the area in the last few days have been picking up a distress signal. One Starfleet ship actually got through to the planet, but the crew was stricken."
She paused, "For those of you that were on the YAMATO the last time, you will remember that we lost a few crew members to some strange virus. But for the most part everyone recovered. This is the reason that you've been selected for this mission. The ship that tried to help has had 6 deaths and the rest of the crew is in isolation. We need to know what is causing this virus, and how to cure it. I don't like sending my people into situations like this, but the crew of the USS YAMATO is our only hope. We have to find out what is causing this virus before it spreads to other planets, or the crews of more ships become ill."
"I'm assigning extra personnel to the ship's science department and Starfleet has contacted UHO. They have sent a team of doctors to work closely with Dr. McGee and his staff. Dr. Ava Pearson and her team will be traveling with the YAMATO on this mission.Dr. Pearson do you have anything to add at this time?" Rexan said.
Ava Pearson stood up and said, "I'm looking forward to the mission, but more so, I'm looking forward to finding out what is causing this virus. My team and I will work tirelessly to that end." She smiled at Alexandria and sat down.
"And if there are no questions, then I bid you God's speed and good luck." She stepped away from the podium and turned to Ian and said, "Keep me posted on what's going on out there. You need to be there in under 24 hours."
Tamara Sheldon said, with just a touch of sarcasm, "Gee, you mean they've given us that long?"
Ian said hurriedly, "We'll do our best Admiral Rexan. We'll do our best."
Rexan said to Tamara, "Young lady, you're a great officer. But just remember, how unpleasant I can make your life. When it comes down to who can be the bigger ass hole, I think I got you beat. And I outrank you." She walked away, with Jefferies in tow.
"Ass hole wasn't exactly the word that comes to mind when I think of the Admiral." Tamara said.
Ian said, "We got a ship to get out of here. Let's go."

USS YAMATO: Call Of The Wild
POSTED BY: Federico Colnago as ENS Seelee Reon
STARDATE: 211026.1452 UTC
MD: 1.1600
SCENE: USS YAMATO, Marines Training Facilities, Deck 13
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reon took a deep breath.
He hated having to do this, but apparently was one of the 'privileges' of
the rank. As a matter of fact, doing overall briefings to his people was
something that he still have to learn, probably, and the idea of entering
that room was as dreadful as the hung-over he was having.
Memo to self for the next R&R time: never drink too much in the evening, you
might be asked to put together your department and leave the next day.
He stepped inside the main Marines Training room.
The choice of this place had been dictated simply by reasons of praticality:
it was a big open space, once you've moved all the training equipment aside,
and he needed space to assemble pretty much all of his men from both
security and tactical branch of the department.
ENS Anna Nilsoon nodded at him, and he was sure she had seen how nervous he
really was. There were moments when his deputy chief was even more
perceptive than the always attentive Tokath. Reon smiled at her.
"Sir, the men are all here. Well, with the exception of crewman Robertson
and Petty Officer S'rek. The first is still held after the small divergence
of opinions he had with that Tellarite on the Promenade, the second will be
released from sickbay tomorrow early morning. I doubt he will ask for any
time in the holodeck for a while." She smirked at him and passed him a PADD
with the final roster of the department. A quick look at it revealed nothing
different from the draft he received early that morning, just after LCDR
Sheldon's voice had had him rolling off bed at that unholy hour. But he knew
all was relative to how much he had to drink the night before, and rarely
Starfleet was in synch with him on that.
"Thank you Ensign," he positioned himself facing all of the rest of the
crew. "I know that half of you were rushed off your bed without a very long
notice, and probably the other half from someone's else bed with even less
of it, but we all wear the uniform, and we answer the call when Starfleet
calls."
Reon started slowly pacing up and down the line of men, not as much to take
a look a them, as to clear his mind while speaking. "I don't want to tell
you that this ship needs you in a good shape and with good peace of mind,
but if there's something I should know before I report to the XO that this
department is ready for action, I pretend to hear it and hear it fast,
because as things are moving right now, we'll be leaving in a hurry. So
settle down whatever you might have going on aboard EPSILON and let's get
down to business."
Looking over at Nilsoon, he saw her grinning. Apparently he wasn't going too
bad after all.
He continued. "What's waiting for us it's still uncertain. I will confirm
just one rumor: we are indeed going back to Draken IV because of a distress
call. I know I wasn't on board last time, and I think few of you were, but
an advice for everybody. This is not a replay, a rematch or anyone's chance
for vengance. The YAMATO lost some good crew there, but I don't want the
past to be a player in this mission. Keep it sharp and keep it focused, I
and ENS Nilsoon will get back to you as soon as I'll be briefed by the
captain."
Standing still in the middle of the room, he took a good look at all the
faces that were looking at him. Apart from the two temporary missing
crewmen, those eyes were the same he had worked with everyday during the
past mission. Suddenly, all his nervousness for what was to come, started to
fade.
"Your main assignments will start pouring in later today, as we get more
details on the mission profile. For the moment, keep yourself busy. I want
all the equipment in spotless condition and I want the exercise routine to
start soon and at a fast pace. ENS Nilsoon will send trough a shooting
pratice schedule soon, while ENS Tokath will work with his group to gather
all the intel we currently have in the database on what happened on Draken
IV. If there are specific questions, you're all dismissed. Let's go make a
good job from day zero!", he clapped his hands. "Now get the hell out of
here before we all get sentimental."
The men started to leave the room, a lot of buzzing chats filling the air.
The start of a mission was the most fertile ground for gossiping that
mankind has ever been able to find so far, that was a rule of thumb that
no one had been yet able to change. Reon sincerely hoped it wasn't going to
cause problem this time around.
A hand landed slowly on his right shoulder. "That wasn't too bad Chief,
you're getting better at this. Whatever you did on EPSILON yesterday, it was
helpful."
Anna Nilsoon was grinning so widely that he thought for a moment she was
going to hurt herself. She knew. He didn't know how, he hadn't seen her in
the audience the day before, and he had been well sure to check before
jumping on stage at that "Stand-up Comedy 101" show for amateur. But then,
to convince himself to do that, he had drunk enough to kill a Nausicaan...
was it possible he missed her completely.
By the time he had formulated a proper response to her comment, she was
already leaving the room, looking at him over her shoulder, still laughing.
It was going to be entertaining, he thought while kicking himself for not
having check better the crowd. This was going to hurt him: that Swedish
woman knew how to be pungent when needed, and she surely wasn't going to let
this die out very soon.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NRPG: let's get rolling, then ;) I assumed the MD has been reset, if not,
forgive me pleeeeaaaaseeeeeee. *headache*

>>> (snip from Alton's 'Old Friends') <<<<<
>Rachel led Isaac and Cassie to a secluded table in the corner of the
restaurant and left them with their menus. Isaac look the menu over and
then laid it on the table. "So Cassie," he said, "what's been going on
>in your life?"
Cassie gave her order and them put down her menu and looked at Isaac.
The change from being addressed as Lieutenant Stephens to Cassie hadn't
escaped Cassie notice. A brief smile crossed Cass' face at this change,
but no sign of shock or discomfort at the address change. To Cass, here
now in this out-of-the-way eating establishment, Isaac was more like an
old friend than a former captain.
Cassie replied to Isaac's question. "In my life, work takes up most
of my time. But then, I've always been one to 'throw myself into work',"
added Cassie with a smile.
"I do recall that," replied Isaac.
Cassie smiled again and then added, "However, since I started my
Starfleet career all those years ago on the HOOD, I think I've grown
better at balancing work with free time. I think my many years on the
YAMATO helped with that balance. Remember the parties Lisa use to have?"
"Yes I remember those," came the reply from Isaac.
Cassie looked away for a moment and a distant look could be seen in
her blue eyes.
"Everyone we use to know on the YAMATO have left or moved on. Lisa,
Morgan, Leo, and many others. And, even recently the Yamato went through a
few changes of crew and captains since Morgan left," added Cassie with
a sigh.
After a brief paused, Cassie added, "Speaking past and present Yamato
crews. A couple missions back I had a visit with Leo. He is recovering
well after having been seriously hurt after a another mission."
Cassie didn't think she should say anymore about the means by which
Leo had visited. Since she didn't know how much Leo would want anyone
to know about the Trenharn poison in his system that gave him some
powerful abilities. Including the ability to teleport himself. If Isaac
asked where, how, or when she saw Leo, Cassie could mention SB SAIKAI,
since the Yamato was headed that way around that time.
However, before Isaac had a chance to find out more about Leo, Cassie
said, "Speaking again about past a present crew, I had a chance to work
with your nephew Jordan. He is the Yamato's chief engineer. We worked
together on an unusual mission involving some never before seen artificial
lifeforms. Jordan seems like a smart, and nice young fellow. I think he
is a good addition to the Yamato."
Cassie smiled as a thought struck her. "But you asked me about what has
been going on with my 'life', not 'work.' Well in a nutshell, since that
pretty much sums up how many other non-work things I've done, I've had
some visits with my family-mainly my younger brother David. I don't hear
much from brother Tim since he is still stationed in remote parts of the
cosmos. But I do hear often from my mom. Last I heard, she was smitten
with a new beau. He is a professional cook who has a chain of seafood
places on the East coast of the states back on Earth."
Almost as if the mention of food brought her out, Rachel returned with
Cassie's and Isaac's orders.
"Smells good," said Cassie as she picked up a spoonful of the
stew she had ordered.
Between bites of food, Cassie finished her summary of the non-work
oriented things she had been up to. She mentioned a few mystery
holonovels she had read-including her brother David's recent mystery.
Cassie also spoke of a couple flute compositions she had been working
on, but had a ways to go before she would complete the pieces.
_________
Quite some time later
and still at the 'The Queen's Hand.'
Time seemed to fly by fast as Cassie talked and ate with Isaac. After
a wonderful custard dessert and an after dinner drink, Cassie finished
her visit with Isaac.
"It was great to see you Isaac. Maybe our paths will cross again and
we can reminisce once agaim. Please say hello to Janna for me. I
remember working with her on the Yamato," added Cassie.
"Yes I will say hello to Janna for you. And it was good chatting with
you as well," said Isaac.
After Isaac left, Cassie felt sleepy. Maybe it was the good meal, the
trip down memory lane, or the drink which had made her sleepy. Or, thought
Cassie as sort of an afterthought, maybe it was because she hadn't
heard anything about her brother David getting into trouble.
Cassie smiled as she thought, *Well, whatever it is that has me feeling
this way, I think I'll keep my weary bones here on base instead of heading
back to the ship like I had planned. Also, since I am suppose to be on
shore leave, I might as well hang around.*
A short while later, Cassie found a hotel with an Acturan theme close
to the 'The Queen's Hand'. Once Cassie got to her room, she took a quick
shower and drifted off to sleep in a big soft bed and dreamed. Her dreams
had an Arcturan flare about them. She dreamed of green hills,
dragons, and castles. As well as a noble Lord and Lady who looked
like Isaac and Janna.
Many of her former crew were part of an aristocratic court in the dream as
well. And, there was also a handsome knight on a white steed who was none
other than her love Leo Jones.
All and all it was the best sleep Cassie had had in a long time. And
when she woke up in the morning, she was well rested and ready for what
lay ahead. Be that another day on base, or another mission.

All: Again, since I had most of this post done, I decided to send it off
eventhough we are heading into a new mission.
Alton: I was originally going to add some 'tags' for you to fill in stuff
for Isaac. But since we are moving into the next mission, I skipped the
'tags.' So, I hope I played Isaac okay.

The door to Alexandria's office opened and Ginny stepped just inside the door. "Admiral, you have a visitor."
"Who?" Rexan asked without looking up. The requisitions from the YAMATO had already started to roll in and the quartermaster was being a bitch about them. He insisted that Rexan personally sign each one. And Rexan was determined to sign each one, then personally take them down to the supply office and shove them so far up his ass, his proctologist wouldn't be able to find them.
"It's a Dr. Ava Pearson." Ginny said.
"Is any of our ships expecting a doctor?" Rexan asked, still busy signing each requisition.
"I don't think she's that kind of a doctor." Ginny said.
Now Alexandria did look up. "Well, what kind of a doctor is she?"
"I'm with the UHO." Said the gorgeous creature that entered the office. Jet black waist length hair, hazel eyes, and legs that most models would kill for.
"And I repeat, what kind of a doctor are you?" Alex asked.
"Admiral Rexan, here are my orders." She walked farther into the room and handed a PADD to Alexandria.
Alexandria took the PADD and read the orders. "Universal Health Organization. But why are they assigning you to the YAMATO?"
"The last time the YAMATO was assigned to Draken IV, there was a virual outbreak on the ship. Several crew members died from that virus. We still haven't been able to determine what it is. Since the YAMATO is going back to Draken IV, the UHO has assigned me and my team to travel with you. We're to work with your Science Department to find out what the virus is, and to isolate it, and to produce a vaccine." Dr. Pearson said.
"I just found out that we're going back to Draken IV, and Admiral Rashar did not say anything about any viruses. He said they were receiving distress beams from the planet." Alex said.
Dr. Pearson reached into her bag and pulled out another PADD. "We received this two days ago from Starfleet Medical in San Francisco. A Starfleet ship answered the first of the distress signals. Everyone on the ship became ill. They had 6 deaths. The rest of the crew is in isolation at Starfleet Medical. Right now, they have no idea how to treat them. The only clue is the reports from the last mission to Draken by the YAMATO."
Rexan looked up at the doctor and said, "So this dreadful virus is running rampant on the planet, and they are asking me to risk my crew?"
"Admiral, these people could be wiped out. A whole race of people. And we don't know if this virus has already spread to other planets or not. And we don't have a cure. We have 450 people in isolation in San Francisco and don't know what to do for them. The only way to save them and others effected, is to go there and see what is causing it. The YAMATO is not a medical ship, but that crew has already been exposed, and it survived what ever is out there. The USS YAMATO is the only hope to find a cure." Ava said.
"I don't like it. I don't like it one bit. But I guess someone has to go. You have one hour to get your team aboard. I'm briefing the YAMATO in an hour, I want you and your people there. As soon as I'm finished, the YAMATO is sailing." Rexan said.
"Yes ma'am. We'll be aboard." Ava said.
"Ginny sit down with Dr. Pearson and see what they will need. Send me the requisition and I will sign it. Let the OPS officer aboard the YAMATO know how many people will be in Dr. Pearson's party, have him assign quarters."
"Yes Admiral." Ginny said, heading for her own desk.
"Dr. Pearson I'm sure that Lt.Stephens and Dr. McGee will welcome the extra help." Alex said.
Ava said, "Dr. McGee? Dr. Tyvonnis McGee?"
"Yes." Alexandria said. "Is there a problem?"
"No. Not at all." Ava said with a smile.
"Good." Alexandria said. "I'll see you at the briefing."
Dr. Pearson left the office and Alexandria sighed and leaned back in her chair, "Dr. Pearson, YOU may not think that there is a problem, but I can almost bet Commander McGregor won't see it that way."
She hit the button on the comm link and Ginny answered. "Yes, Admiral?"
"Why the hell is there a security officer sitting in my outer office?" She asked.
I see 78 amino acids, proteins and prions in Jordan's future!

McGregors Quarters
Kristopher McGregor was finally getting a chance to enjoy his R&R. Though he
very seldom
would leave the ship he had really enjoyed his dinner date with Chris." He had
forgotten how
nice it had felt to be out with a woman and one who looked so good, " he told
himself as he
sat on his couch. A smile crossed his face when he thought about what Chris had
said about
his ancestor. Maybe that was why his mother changed the subject when Ian would
ask anything
bout his past. He didn't mind if Chris looked into it.as Ian thought it would
be interesting to see
what she found out.
With his mind drifting back to the dinner date his thoughts were interrupted by
Sparks his
comm officer. " Captain, Sparks here. " " What's up sparks? " came the reply. "
I think you
should hear this sir it sounds important. " " Ok pipe it thru, " Ian said
figuring it was just some
thing of no real importance.
<<"This just in from our news crew. It was reported by passing ships that there
was a distress signal being beamed from the surface of Draken IV. Only about 14
months ago, this planet was attacked by some unknown assailants. Devastation was
wide spread. This time, no one is sure what is happening. Several ships have
attempted to contact the surface, but got no reply. I'm Stanley Toliver, CNS
News.">>
When the announcement was over Ian couldn't believe what he'd heard but then
said, " Sparks was there anymore said? " " No sir, "came the answer. " All right
I want you to notify ships company that all shore leave is canceled and that the
senior staff is on board. Tell Lt Randal that department heads are to make a
list of what they need and notify base supply we'll need supplies ASAP. Tell
engineering to make sure this lady is ready to fly when I give the order. "
" But Sir we don't know if we are going, " sparks commented. " When Rexan hears
about this
she'll push us off the base to get us moving, " Ian said with a laugh. " Yes
sir, "sparks answered.
" Anything else sir? " " You hear anything else pipe it thru to my ready room
and notify security
as soon as CommanderSheldon comes aboardhave her report to me there. Have LT
Randal report to me how things are going with each department supply requests.
You got everything sparks? " " Yes sir, " and he was gone.
Kristopher hit the shower, put on a fresh uniform and hurried to his ready
room. Getting himself
a cup of coffee the man clicked on his computer and brought up the ships logs
for the last time
it was at Draken IV. " Last time the ship was at the planet CDR Winters was her
CO and now
this time Ian was her CO. Things do change in fleet, " he thought as he sprung
his chair around
a couple of times.
Up on the bridge sparks had notified everybody the CO wanted him to. " If the
old man was wrong he'd sure have a angry crew on his hands, " he thought to
himself.

"Good morning Admiral." Ginny said as her boss entered the office.
"Is It?" Rexan said crossly. "Call station maintenance and have them nail shut every damn jefferies tube on this station.
"Admiral are you all right? The meds that the doctor gave you for your arm isn't....er..ah......"
"Hell NO!! I'm not going crazy. And the meds have nothing to do with my mood. First some idiot shoots me in the arm and then in the friggin middle of the night those two idiots jumping out of freaking wall panels and shit." She said.
"You know maybe I should claim diminshed mental capacity. Then I can get away with shooting Stern and those two idiots that think they are Intel agents. Now I know why they call it under cover. It's to keep people like that from associating with the sane population." Rexan was really on a tear this morning and Ginny decided to just let her vent.
"Admiral, I called the Chief of Security and asked him to please send someone else to fill in for Dutch. He's sending someone over in a few minutes." Ginny said, pouring the first of many cups of coffee for her boss.
"Call that Neanderthal back, and tell him to cancel. I don't need a body guard. I'll be fine until Dutch gets back. And make a note that Dutch Logan never gets any more time off as long as I'm Admiral of Silver Fleet." Rexan took the offered coffee and tried to juggle it and her briefcase without spilling the coffee.
Ginny took the cup back and escorted her boss into her office, where she sat the cup on a coaster on the big polished oak desk. "But with everything that's going on aboard the station, Admiral you need personal security more than ever."
"May I remind you that my last personal security officer was the friggin idiot that shot me. Besides, I can protect myself." She opened her brief case, pulled out the old Glock. "Just let them try to take me out. I'm not going down without a fight."
Ginny was at a lost for words. She was still trying to think of something to say when the comm link beeped and the Starfleet seal appeared.
"Oh Crap!! This can't be good." Alexandria groaned. "It's the Admiral."
The face of the Andorian faded in on the screen. "Vice Admiral Rexan, I'm Admiral Sorjei ch'Rasharvookh'veeb. Nice to finally meet you."
"Very nice to meet you also Admiral. And congratulations on your confirmation. I've heard a lot about you and I'm looking forward to working with you." Alexandria smiled.
"Well, Admiral Rexan it looks like there's no better time than the present. I just received word that passing ships are receiving a stress beam from Draken IV. I reviewed the records and saw that the USS YAMATO was sent there about a year and a half ago to aid the residents because of some mysterious attacks." The white-haired Admiral said.
"Yes, that is correct Admiral." Rexan said.
"Is the YAMATO anywhere near the area at the moment?" He asked. "Can we get them there in the next twenty four hours?"
"Currently the YAMATO is docked here at EPSILON, Admiral. But we can get them back into space in the next few hours. They can be at Draken IV in about eighteen hours." Rexan knew that was cutting it close, but she had faith in McGregor and Sheldon.
"Make it happen, Admiral. And thanks. I will be in touch." The screen faded back to the Starfleet insigna, then to black.
"Ginny, send word to McGregor and Sheldon to get there people back aboard the ship. Call the Quartermaster, tell him that whatever the YAMATO needs they get. Their requisition is to be put ahead of all the rest." Alexandria said.
"What time do you want them in for the briefing?" She asked.
"Tell them I will brief all the senior officers on the ship at 1300 hours. They are to be ready to depart at 1400 hours. Time is of the essence." She said.
Ginny turned to leave the room and to start to implement the Admiral's orders. The door to the outer office opened and a Security officer stepped inside. "I'm Lt. Gregory Jefferies. I was sent over by the Chief of Security."
Ginny groaned. "Please just have a seat. The Admiral isn't in a good mood at the moment. So just stay here in the office and let's hope nothing else goes wrong. The last personal security officer didn't work out too well and she is seriously pissed. In fact, if you were to go in there right now, she just might shoot you."
Jefferies just smiled and said, "No problem. Sitting out here watching you work won't be so bad."
Ginny blushed as she started to put through calls to Ian McGregor and Tamara Sheldon.
Ensign Jordan Stern's comm badge beeped, and he tapped it as he tried
unsuccessfully to stifle a yawn. "Umm, escuse me. Stern here."
*Ensign, this is Commander Sheldon. You need to get your ass back aboard
and prepare for departure.*
"Let me guess. You got some intel that I was seen last night in the
company of Dr. Tyvonnis McGee, and are assuming that I'm hung over and
in the arms of some floozy," Jordan said.
There was a brief pause while Tamara considered her response, *Yeah,
almost exactly that.*
"Well, then, Commander, I'd like to assure you that this morning finds
me in the company of a very sophisticated lady, and I'm currently
stoking her fires," Jordan said with a smile.
*Then you'd better let her know that you don't have time to wait for her
orgasm, and get your ass back to the ship. Sheldon out.*
The connection went silent, and Jordan grinned as he picked his mug up
from his desk and took a sip of coffee. He was about half way through
the engine start up procedure, and wanted to supervise the initial
matter - antimatter injection into the warp core himself.
He turned his chair toward the door and was surprised to see a tall
woman with light blue skin and shocking orange hair pulled into a pony
tail standing in the doorway.
She came to attention and said, "Chief Petty Officer D'lyn Tran
reporting for duty, sir." She held out a PADD to him.
Jordan took the PADD, and said, "At ease, Chief." He looked at her
orders, and then at her service record. It was quite impressive
considering that she was just 2 years older than him. The last item
caught his eye. "I see you're transferring from the SIPSEY. You're not
one of my Uncle's spies, are you?"
When Jordan looked up, he found D'lyn looking relaxed as she considered
the question. "If I say 'no' you might accept the answer, but you'll be
certain I'm not telling the truth. If I say 'yes', and really am an
Intel field agent, then I'll have to kill you. So, why don't we just
take that question off the table," she concluded with a soft smile.
Jordan looked at her for a moment before nodding, "I can't argue with
your logic."
"Good," D'lyn replied, "now let's fire this girl up."
Jordan nodded and put the PADD on his desk. He followed D'lyn out of
his office. She turned to him and asked, "Is Commander Sheldon always
like that?"
"She's tough, but fair," Jordan replied with a smile, "She's always
pissed off at everyone equally."

"If there’s no great glorious end to all this, if nothing we do matters …
then all that matters is what we do." -- Angel, "Epiphanies"
Tamara lay nestled in the comfort of Ro'ry's arm. Basking in the golden glow of their night together. Her eyes were closed and her body felt as if she'd never be able to move again. It had been a long time...much too long, since she'd felt this way. But her attitude and distrust of the male species made it kind of hard to think about them romantically.
The TV monitor in the room flashed scenes of what was happening all across the universe. Tamara liked knowing what was going on out there..even when she wasn't out there.
Ro'ry shifted and pulled Tamara closer and buried his face in her hair. She let her hand roam, enjoying his maleness. Just as her attention drifted from the TV, the words, "Draken IV" caught her ears. She immediately opened her eyes and sat up in the bed.
"What is wrong?" Ro'ry asked.
"There was an attack on the colony there last year. The YAMATO was sent in to help." She said, reaching for the remote to turn up the volume.
"This just in from our news crew. It was reported by passing ships that there was a distress signal being beamed from the surface of Draken IV. Only about 14 months ago, this planet was attacked by some unknow assailants. Devastation was wide spread. This time, no one is sure what is happening. Several ships have attempted to contact the surface, but got no reply. I'm Stanley Toliver, CNS News."
Tamara was out of bed and heading towards the bathroom. Ro'ry waited until she emerged, showered and dressed in her uniform. He stood up and walked over to her and pulled her close. His lips brushed hers, and he traced the outline of her cheek with the back of his hand. "You must go?"
She nodded. "I'm afraid so. As soon as this news reaches Admiral Rexan, Commander McGregor and I will be summoned. We will have to ship out as soon as possible. Until we get called to the Admiral's office, I'll be rounding up the crew and start requisioning supplies. We will probably leave by the end of the day. I'm sorry. But I really enjoyed last night." She picked up the dress, and the shoes, and started to take off the necklace, but he stopped her.
"They are for you. Only you could do them justice." Again he traced the outline of her cheek with his hand, and looked deep into her eyes. "Tamara Sheldon, you could become a bad habit."
"A bad habit?" She asked, throatily.
"Yes. Bad habits are things that we do, that we know full well we should not do. I do not have very many, but you come become my bad habit." His frosty blue eyes made her shiver. He brought her hand up to his lips and kissed it. "I know what you do is very important, and I will not detain you any longer. I hope you will be back to EPSILON soon."
"I hope so too." She said, standing on her tip toes to plant a kiss on his lips. "I hope so too."
When he walked into the bathroom, she threw her things into her bag, and was fully packed by the time he returned from his shower. "I have to go." She said.
"Take care. I will be thinking of you." Ro'ry said.
She turned and left the room, heading for the ship. On the way, she stopped by Garn's. She stepped inside and looked around.
She saw the object of her search at a back table. She walked over and said to him, "Dr. McGee, let's go."
Ty McGee looked up from where he was about to make the winning pool shot and said, "So you've come to your senses and now you want a piece of the McGee. Well, I think I just might play hard to get." He grinned down at Tamara.
"Don't flatter yourself, Dr. McGee. The ship's personnel is being recalled. You need to head back to the ship." She said.
"Oh crap. I was stuck on that insane asylum for over six months, and now shore leave is over. I'm going to protest to someone." Ty said.
"You mean you're actually going to complaing that you have to give up drinking and gambling to go do your job?" Tamara asked.
"Yeah. All work and no play makes Dr. McGee very cross." Ty grinned, leaned over the table and made his shot. "Ok, you losers, pay up."
"Hey, we want a chance to win our money back." A very angry Andorian said.
"Sorry guys, my boss..." He pointed to Tamara, "Said I had to go. You know I'd love to give you a chance to win back your dough."
"Come on McGee, get your ass in gear, before I call security and have you hauled out of here." Tamara said.
"On the way Boss." He said, laying down his pool cue and heading for the door of the bar. After they left the bar and was headed towards the ship, he said, "You showed up just in time." He grinned as he counted his money.
"Oh did I now?" She asked.
"Yep. I made a killing." He flashed the wad of cash in front of her face.
"I'm glad to know that." Tamara reached out and grabbed the money out of Ty's hand. He tried to take it back, but she dodged his efforts. She took about half the money and gave him the rest back. She detoured towards a booth.
Inside of the booth was a kettle for donations. Tamara dropped the wad of cash into the locked kettle.
"What the hell are you doing?" Ty yelled.
"Since you were so lucky, might as well let the children on EPSILON have a little luck also." Tamara returned to the corridor that would take them to the YAMATO.
"You know you're a very mean woman." Ty McGee said, following her down the corridor. "Great ass, but mean as hell."
"Watch it McGee." Tamara said without turning away. "You could lose more than half your money."
"I'm alright. Just leave me alone." Alexandria complained as the medical staff tried to work on her wounded shoulder.
"Admiral, please let the doctors do their jobs." Ginny said, worriedly.
"I'm alright. But if I get my hands on Wise, he'll need a doctor." Rexan complained.
"She's very lucky." The doctor said, "It just grazed her. I'm putting the arm in a sling just in to be safe. Try to get her to relax."
"You got any tranquilzers you can shoot from a phaser?" Ginny asked.
"The doctor smiled. "No.But I do understand." To Alex he said, "If you don't relax and let your arm heal naturally, I'll have to admit you to sick bay and put you on bed rest for at least two, maybe three days. Do we understand each other?"
"I understand that you're trying to blackmail me. I have a fleet to run." She said.
"And you also have a second in command to handle things when you're not able." He said, giving her a stern look. "Don't make me play the I'm-the-doctor card."
PSHAW!!!" She hissed. "Every time you medical quacks can't get your way, you pull the I'm-a-doctor card. Oh, alright, I'll relax. But I still have to work."
"See that wasn't so hard was it? You and I just compromised and we both win." He smiled. To Ginny he said, "Make sure she relaxes. Now how did you say she got shot in the first place?"
"Her personal security officer shot her." Ginny said.
"Can't say as I'm surprised." The doctor said. "She's kind of honery."
"You two do know that I can hear you? Right? And if I had my phaser, I'd show you just how honery I can be." Alex said giving both Ginny and the doctor a dirty look.
The doctor laughed and said, "You can take her home now."
"Come on Admiral, let's get you to your quarters." Ginny said.
"Ok." Alex said, as the doctor helped her down from the bio bed.
As the exited sick bay, Alex said, "We need to go by security."
"Now Admiral, the doctor said you needed to relax. You chewing someone out is not relaxing." Ginny warned.
"You have your way of relaxing, I have mine." She said as they detoured towards the security office.
As they neared, they saw that the media circus had moved from Alex's office to the security office. "Let's skip this. I'll have words with Commander Flosser later." Alex and Ginny headed in the other direction to avoid the press.
MD: 8.1800 - SB EPSILON - Promenade
Captain Isaac Stern walked along the promenade taking in the familiar
sights. Despite the years that had past since he was last aboard
EPSILON, surprisingly little had changed. Garn's was still where he
left it, and the smell of beer and other libations still wafted out
through the front door. The barber where he would occasionally get his
hair cut was still giving trims to Starfleet officers and swapping war
stories. And Cassandra Stephens was still haunting the corridors of the
Starbase.
He saw her up ahead, and headed in her direction. "Lieutenant
Stephens," Isaac said with a smile, "you are the last person I expected
to see here."
Cassie turned around and a smile spread across her face, "Captain
Stern! I had heard that you were here on EPSILON."
"I had to save a couple of old friends from themselves. You may have
been aware."
"Oh yeah," Cassie replied, "very aware."
Isaac laughed, "Yeah, I guess you are. If nothing else, I owe you dinner."
Cassie considered for a moment, "You're not going to try to," she looked
around furtively, "recruit me as a spy?"
"I wasn't planning on it," Isaac replied.
"Then, sure."
Isaac looked around the promenade. "You know what I've really missed?"
Cassie shook her head, "Arcturan food. There are no decent Arcturan
restaurants on Earth. Come on."
They made their way through the crowds on promenade and entered The
Queen's Hand, a hole-in-the-wall tucked in the corner at one end of the
promenade. The hostess looked up as they entered, "Captain Stern!"
"Hello Rachel. How have you been?"
"Very well. How are Janna and the children?"
"They are doing well. I'll let them know you asked about them." Isaac
gestured toward Cassie, "This is Lieutenant Stephens, the Science
Officer on the YAMATO, and an old friend."
"She likes Arcturan food?" Rachel asked.
"She'd better, since we're going to be eating it. How about a table
near the back?"
Rachel led them to a secluded table in the corner of the restaurant and
left them with their menus. Isaac look the menu over and then laid it
on the table. "So Cassie," he said, "what's been going on in your life?"

Ian didn't mind Chris asking about the pictures as he was beginning to feel more relaxed as time went on. " Well the painting is of a Irish country side that I did a few years ago. The picture of the big rock is one I climbed about 5 years ago. It's called Half Dome, it's in Yosemite in California, " he said his face showing a fond memory.
Chris smiled and sipped her wine. "You paint Ian? you did that picture? Its very good." She sipped more wine. "Why Ireland?"
" My ancestry goes back to Ireland but I've never looked it up. From what I know I'm suppose to be related to some rebel rouser way back when but never found the time to check it out. "
Chris raised an eyebrow. "Really? that's interesting, my grandfather many centuries back was a bit of a bugger as well." She watched as the
waiter brought the first part of their meal. She thanked him and waited for him to leave. "Perhaps you have heard of him? Captain William Blyth?"
Craig Barrett: Ian thought for a moment. " Wasn't he the infamous captain of the Bounty or was that someone else? " he asked
Chris kept a straight face. "Yes he was, the lower class on his ship had no idea what a good Captain he was, what a magnificent sailor he was." She looked at Ian trying not to laugh. "Ok he may have been slightly overbearing and cruel, but he could sail a ship." She watched his face. "You know I could help you find your ancestor, I am probably the only crewman on the ship who actually has the connections and the spare time, tell me what you know about him."
" I'm not really sure but think it had to do with Feagh McHugh O'Byrne whoever he was. He was some rebel leader in the 16th century but know knows.
Chris
looked up quickly "O'Byrne?" She put her fork down and stared at him " THE O'Burun' " She smiled at him. "Good gawd man, you do have a famous ancestor" "Did you know there was a song about him and the famous battle?"
Ian looked surprised at Chris's reaction. " I'm not sure about any of it and it could just be alot of nothing. I remember when I was small and asking my parents about the name O'Byrne and they immediately changed the subject. Just being a kid I really didn't think much about it and never asked about it again.
Chris slid her chair towards him. "Why would they not tell you anything, Fiach Ma O'Byrne is famous, he was rebel of the first degree Ian, he is one of Ireland's hero's"
" From the little I could gather he raised more hell against the government and my mother said she could see traits of that in me. Why I don't know I just always stuck up for the underdog as they
say and of course got into a lot of fights, " he said with a laugh.
Chris laughed softly. "Well if you are a descendant of O'Bryne then you have a genetic pre disposition to do just that, he tried to free Ireland from the British, give them back their lands and freedom. So your need to stick up for the underdog would come naturally" She laughed again."The same as mine to want to be in charge" She picked up her glass." To the ancestors, for making us what we are."
Ian raised his glass and said, " Aye Lassie. " Then he looked at Chris and said, " do you get frustrated with senior officers who think they know better than you but just pull rank? "
Chris blushed slightly, but kept her glass up, "All the bloody time"
" Yeah me to, " he replied. " Even being Captain of a ship has it's moments with those who think they can just do what they want, " his mind thinking of Stern and his
moles.
Chris watched his face, she started to speak, but changed her mind, she had promised there would be no shrink talk tonight."I suppose, that's part of the job, knowing who you have to take seriously, and who really isn't a threat to your authority.Every ship, well every life situation has someone who will try to over ride you, or undermine you, but you know your job, your position Ian, and I think you know how to handle those situations. I could give you text book examples, but they don't really apply in real life do they. Trust yourself and your instinct, those people know who really is boss."
Ian just nodded and the food came. The steak and potato was great and he didn't say much while they ate. " This shrink isn't bad at all. She's even human at times, " he thought with a inner smile as he didn't want to let her know what he thought.
They ate and talked in general, before
they knew it, they had been in the restaurant for three hours. They were sitting and having coffee, Chris looked at Ian. "We did it Captain, we managed three hours without yelling, and threats." She grinned at him."That's a good new start for us."
" Yeah wonders will never cease, " he said with a laugh.
Chris motioned for the waiter, she simply signed the bill and he slid her chair out for her."Lets wander around the base, its been too nice an evening to go back."
" I'll go along with that, " he said as he held out his arm for her to take.
Chris took his arm and she leaned in close to him. "What say we take Captain Blyth and Fiach Ma O'Byrne for a walk."

Ian was taking advantage of the quiet on the ship since it had docked at Epsilon. Nobody was knocking on his door every 2 or 3 minutes with a question or problem. Right at the moment he was in his office making sure he hadn't left any reports undone or anything else.
His head had finally felt better after that drinking session he had with Tamara. " He sure wasn't going to be doing that for a longtime he told himself as he sat in his chair relaxing.
Chris doubled checked herself in the mirror, she turned slightly just to make sure the dress looked as good as it felt. She sighed, there was no way around it, she was getting old. So, she would change the shoes, get the pair that made her look really good. She struggled to get them on, then stood up. "Much better" She headed to Ian's office, she was going to drag him out for
dinner, and maybe he would relax enough to talk to her. She tapped his door chime and waited
The chair felt so relaxing that Ian started to doze off when his chimes went off. " Looks Iike I spoke to soon, " he said out loud. " Come, " he said wondering who it could possibly be now.
Chris smiled at him. "Good evening Captain, I have come to drag you out for a very nice, very classy dinner, on me of course" She stepped further into his room. The dress swayed with her hip movements, and she sat down in front of him, crossing her legs.
The man couldn't believe who walked into his office, It was the ships counsellor and dressed up. He had to admit she looked good in the dress she was wearing as his eyes did a quick scan of her. " Counsellor, I'm still kind of tired from the mission and not sure if I'd be very good company for you tonight, " he said still checking her out from head to toe.
Chris smiled at him. "Captain this is
just what you need." She put one hand up."I promise, I will not question you, harangue you , annoy you or try in any way to do the shrink thing. I just want to take you out, have a nice dinner and try again to see if we can actually get to know each other, without killing one another"
" Now I'll go along with that, " he said with a smile. " Give me a few minutes to change and I'll be with you. You can wait here or in my quarters if you wish, " he added as he got up to head out.
Chris got up and followed him. "I'll join you in your quarters, after all I am a doctor, not like I will see anything I haven't seen before."
They arrived at his quarters and he told her to grab a seat he wouldn't be long. His quarters were on the sparse side just the furniture and a picture or two and a painting of what looked like an Irish countryside. The pictures were of mountains that were tall and rugged and one with a name of Half Dome
on it. It wasn't long before Ian was dressed in a pair of brown slacks nice shirt open at the collar and a sport jacket. " Guess I'm ready. Where we going? " he asked.
Chris smiled at him. "You wash up well Ian" She got up and walked closer to him. "We are going to De Maricos,it specializes in Mediterranean and Italian dishes, and the wines are excellent." She eyed him again and smiled, then took his arm."May as well look like we get on."
Di Maricos Restaurant
The head waiter approached them, "Good evening Ms Blyth, so nice to have you back" Chris nodded to him. "Thank you Leonard, could you please seat us away from the crowd, we have had a rather unpleasant day, and need some of your special attention." Leonard blushed and threw his arms up in the air. "For you Madam, anything." He escorted them to a table in a corner, it had a holo window that looked out over a canal in Venice. He put the menus on the table."Wine?" Chris looked at
Ian.
The feeling of a woman on his arm felt strange to Ian for it had been a longtime since he had a beautiful woman walking with him. He hadn't heard of the restaurant but that wasn't unusual for him as he very seldom ate at one. He was surprise the head man knew Chris as well as he did that Ian was beginning to feel a little out of place. Leonard pulled Chris' chair for her and Ian sat across checking out the view. In answer about the wine, Chris I really don't know anything about them but if you want to order something go ahead, " he said trying to feel more comfortable where he was.
Chris tilted her head slightly, then looked at the waiter, "Ruffino Chianti please." The waiter hurried off. "Ian?did I make a mistake in choosing this place? I mean, would you have preferred someplace a little um, oh crap, this is the wrong restaurant isn't it?"
" No it's fine Chris it's just that I'm not use to being at a
place like this. In fact my wife liked these kind of restaurants and I would feel a little uneasy for a bit but finally would relax, " but actually I have to say it's nice being out with a beautiful woman. It's been a very longtime since I have, " he said a quiet smile on his face.
Chris blushed a dark red, that was not the answer she had expected."Whew, for a moment I thought I had screwed up again." She folded her hands in her lap, and looked sideways at him. "Sooo ya think I am beautiful? I suppose that beats you thinking I'm a pain in the ass" She started to giggle."Don't suppose I could be both then?"
Ian had to laugh. He wasn't sure how to answer, but did say, " We're not on the ship now, " and left it at that.
Chris giggled again. "Ok so I am officially demoted from pain in the ass status." She handed him the menu. "What would you like tonight Captain" Her smile was soft and genuine.
Taking the menu, " It's
either Ian or Kristopher but not captain when we're in my quarters or out like this. Everything looks good what would you suggest? " he said closing his menu.
Chris smiled at him again."Ian,if you like pasta I would try the Quatro Fromagio, with linguine, or if you like seafood, the lobster with white sauce and noodles." She peered over the top of the menu."But they do a really good thick Angus steak"
The man thought for a second. " I think a steak medium covered in mushroom's and a baked potato with sour cream sounds good to me. "
"Mmmmmmmm yes it does, but I have a weakness for pasta, I love it, it loves me" The waiter came over with the wine and poured out two glasses, then took their orders. Chris thanked him and looked at Ian. "I promised I wouldn't ask any shrink questions tonight and I meant it, but you could tell me a bit about yourself, how about you start with the pictures on your wall."

"So," Jordan said as they walked toward a table toward the back of the
bar, "were you trying to use the famous McGee charm?"
"Famous? You think it's famous?"
"Well," Jordan said with a grin, "I was going to refer to it as infamous."
"It definitely isn't infamous," Ty replied sliding into a seat at an
empty table.
Jordan dropped into the seat across from him, "She didn't seem to be

Ty laughed, "Is that your expert opinion?"
"I'm a friend, you know, and I don't want to have to worry that there is
something wrong with you." Jordan thought for a moment, "You could have
some terrible space disease that makes you undesirable to women. Worse
yet, it could be contagious and I could catch it."
"Terrible space disease?" Ty shook his head, "You'd think I'd have
noticed something like that."
"Maybe the first symptom is getting shot down by a hot Commander in a
bar on the nearest starbase?"
"I was not shot down," Ty started to protest.
The waitress stopped at their table with beer and munchies.
"It looked like you were getting shot down from where I was standing,"
Jordan offered.
"You might get shot down," Ty explained, "but I don't."
"No, but you did beat a hasty retreat to have a beer with me, and I'm
not as hot as she is."
"Now that," Ty replied gesturing with a chip in Jordan's direction, "is
the first true thing you've said since you got here."
"Just so we're clear on this," Jordan replied gesturing with a chip of
his own, "you are completely not my type."
"I think I'm happy to hear that."

"If there’s no great glorious end to all this, if nothing we do matters …
then all that matters is what we do." -- Angel, "Epiphanies"
Tamara Sheldon took her time exploring SB EPSILON. It was a huge station, unlike the star bases that she had been used to in COCHRANE FLEET.
The huge station was like a city unto it's own self. There were so many layers, each layer much more diverse than the one before. And the shops were so eclectic.
The crowd contained as many civilians as Starfleet personnel. The hustle and bustle of the crowd intrigued Tamara.
She found herself standing outside a shop called, "Dreams Do Come True." She stood looking in the window at items that she'd never seen before.
"That one would look extremely wonderful on you." A deep voice said.
She turned and looked into icy blue eyes seated beneath a mane of wild waist length blonde hair. Those eyes were just above a mouth that could only be described as 'kissable.' It was from this orfice that the deep voice emitted.
But her eyes kept going back to "THOSE EYES." In them were layers, more layers than EPSILON itself had. And each layer promised something different. What she saw there intrigued, as well as frightened her. Those eyes had seen immense joy, and untold sorrow. They had laughed at the birth of a favorite child, and cried as a love ones life ended. In them, Tamara saw emerald pools of love, and the blackness of hate. She shook her head to bring herself back to the present moment in time.
"I'm a Starfleet officer, I probably can't afford even to look at the items here." She said, dragging herself away from those eyes.
He leaned over and picked up a necklace and held it up for her to see. "This is Urobian Quartz. It is the same color brown as your eyes."
"I've never heard of Urobian Quart." Tamara said, touching the necklace, which was ice cold.
"May I?" He asked, unlocking the clasp and motioning for her to raise her hair so he could put it on.
"I can't afford it....I" She stopped protesting and lifted her hair. The owner of the voice and the necklace place it around her neck and fastened it in place.
"Even with the uniform, it makes you even more beautiful." He smiled.
Tamara reached down and touched the necklace, and even though it had not really touched her skin, it was now warm to the touch, and she could have sworn that she felt a faint heart beat. "It is so beautiful. How much?"
"This is my grand opening and I need to advertise. Tell everyone about my shop, and accept the necklace as your marketing fee." He said, holding out his hand, "I am Ro'ry."
"Lt. Commander Tamara Sheldon. First officer of the USS YAMATO. Nice to meet you and thank you." Tamara said, shaking his hand. Which was smooth and very cool. Not cold, just cool. You never wanted to let it go. But she forced herself to loosen her grasp.
"My pleasure." He looked deep into her eyes. Will you be on SB EPSILON very long?"
"I'm not sure. We could get orders any minute and have to leave in a rush." Tamara said.
"A pity." He said. He stepped back into the shop and indicated that she should follow him.
"Where is Urobia?" Tamara asked, stepping into the dimly lit shop.
"Urobia is in a galaxy far, far away." And for just a brief second, Ro'ry went to that far, far galaxy.
"I've never heard of it." She said, wondering what memories Urobia held for him. Where they good ones or bad ones? His eyes never answered her questions.
"Not a lot of people have." He commented.
"You have some beautiful pieces here." She browsed.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
"You know I have a dress that would look stunning on you. It will make the Quartz look even better." He moved gracefull from where he stood to a rack near the back of the shop. Tamara could have sworn that the rack had not been there when she entered, but maybe she was mistaken.
He came back with a brown and pink creation that reminded Tamara of cotton candy. She reached out and touched the dress. It was like touching a cloud.
"I...er...I would never have an occasion to wear this. I'm on a ship, in uniform all the time." Tamara couldn't take her eyes off the dress.
"Then how about wearing it when you have dinner with me later tonight?" He asked, shaking back the long blonde hair.
"Dinner? Tonight?" She asked, as if in a daze.
"Yes. Dinner tonight. And you can wear the dress, no charge. Again we will call it a marketing fee." Ro'ry said.
"Well...I ...er...I don't know. Maybe. But why?" She asked, pulling her eyes away from the garment.
He pointed to the sign that reported the shop's name. "Because dreams DO come true."
"But I don't think I've dreamed of having dinner with a handsome stranger, dressed in a garment that I couldn't afford on a year's salary." She smiled at him.
"Perhaps, then it is MY dream that will come true tonight." He smiled, and those eyes changed from icy blue to a frosty paler blue.
Tamra reached out and took the dress. "What time is this dinner?"
"Is 2100 hours too soon?" He reached behind the counter and pulled out a bag and folded the dress and put it inside.
"No, it's fine." She took the bag that he held out and realized that it was heavier than it should be. She peeked inside and saw that their was a pair of shoes to match the dress. "How do I know they will fit?"
"They will." He stated with confidence. There was a slight rustle from the back room, that attracted his attention. "2100 hours. I am looking forward to it. Please excuse me."
"I'll be ready." Tamara said, realizing that he was now trying to get rid of her. Whatever had happened in the back room now had his full attention.
As soon as Tamara was out the door, Ro'ry headed for the back room. He slipped the jeweled dagger from it's sheath beneath his shirt. "Who is there?"
His brother stepped from the shadows. "You fool!!! Why are you getting involved with a mortal. You know that he will use this against you?"
"Because I am alone here, and I am tired of being alone. She will only be here for a few days, then she will be gone. And he will have no reason to use her as leverage." Ro'ry put the dagger back in it's sheath. "And we do not know that he even knows where I am."
"He always finds out. Somehow, he always knows. Mother and Father send their love, by the way." His brother said.
"Give them mine in return. Now if you will excuse me, I have a very beauriful that will be expecting me in a little while. I do not want to disappoint her." He said, reaching out and planting a kiss on each of his brother's cheeks, then hugging him hard before he released him. "Now go and let them know I am well."
After his brother left, Ro'ry busied himself with straightening up the shop, and an occassional customer. Mentally, he counted off the minustes until time to meet Tamara. But in the back of his mind was his brother's warning.
Meanwhile, Tamara showered and wondered why in the hell she had agreed to go to dinner with a man that she had just met. Her feelings about men weren't always unbaised. Not since Warren Brickford. But she pushed the negative thoughts to the back of her mind as she dropped the towel and picked up the dress.
She slipped into it, and it almost took her breath away. It fitted perfectly. And felt as if a cloud had indeed wrapped itself around her body. The shoes also fit perfectly. And much too soon, the chimes to her door sounded.
She opened the door and there stood Ro'ry.
"I hope that I am not too early, but anticipation got the better of me." He said. He was now dressed in black slacks, a white shirt that was most assuredly some kind of silk. His hair was still loose, and picked up the lights so that it looked like it radiated the sun.
She stepped back so he could enter, "No not at all. Let me get my purse and we'll be off."
He stood and waited for her return. "There is a restaurant on deck 17. It is a little out of the way place that plays sweet romatic music and the food is very delightful."
"Sounds like my kind of a place." Tamara proceeded him out of the rrom.
The restaurant's lighting was very dim, but the atmosphere was so romantcic. They were shown to a table and the waiter, who was dressed in a costume that remeinded Tamara of 20th century pirates, opened a bottle of wine, poured a sip in Ro'ry's glass for him to sample.
He turned the glass up, drained the contents and savored it. Then nodded and said, "Wonderful bouquet."
The waiter then poured some into each goblet and handed both of them menus.
When he left, Tamara said, "Everything looks so good. But I think I'll have the Cedar seared Salmon, with Venustian salad greens, and Plutoian mud mushrooms."
"Great choice. Even though the salmon is farm raised." Ro'ry said. The waiter returned and their orders were taken.
Tamara sipped her wine and enjoyed the music. "How long have you been on EPSILON?"
"Only a few days." He said. The waiter brought a basket of bread sticks made of Parmsean Cheese, mad on Mars. "These are great." He took one and broke it in half and handed one half to Tamara.
"This tastes divine." Tamara said biting into the bread stick.
Their food arrived and they chatted about meaningless things. The music was switched to a melodic symphony by the Bajoran Chamber Group.
Later as they walked back to Tamara's quarters, she saidm "You don't like to talk about your self. Every time I asked a question about you, you changed the subject. Are you wanted? Are you running from the law?"
He reached out and took her hand and brought the knuckles to his lips. "Being wanted is not always about running from the law. Sometimes one runs to something. Sometimes running is perferrable to standing and fighting...at the moment."
She looked deep into THOSE eyes and somehow understood. They arrived at ther quarters and she unlocked the door and they entered. He took her into his arms and his lips found hers.
"Maybe I was running to this moment." His lips just brushed hers. He took both hands in his hands and alternating kissing each hand.
She looked down and the dress was pooled at her feet. He had never let go of her hands, and she couldn't have slipped out of it. She stood naked before him, with just the necklace and the shoes on.
He winked at her and said, "Dreams sometimes, DO come true."
