Born in a quiet area of metropolitan Toronto to traditional artists. The similarities end there as he was growing up, he showed little interest in art. From a very early age he was a hyper and curious child, often driving his parents to the brink of insanity.
During early schooling, Jonathan did rather poorly. Diagnosed with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, he began taking Vulcan meditation therapy, something he still practices to this very day. By the time he entered high school, he was free of the affliction.
It is during these days that he flourished. His grades consitently improved and he excelled at sports. His success soon started to get to his head and his tendency for arrogance was born. He also became a womanizer, another habit he hasn't been able to drop. It was because of this that he wasn't selected valedictorian of his graduating class, a resentment he harbours to this day. Also, it is how he developed the belief that performance should speak for itself, regardless of who the person is.
Upon graduating high school, he picked up the hobby of mountain climbing with a vacationer from Lunar Colony. After reaching the summits of Mount St Helen's, K-1, and Mount Everest, he returned home and applied for Star Fleet.
After a year of living according to how he wanted adjusting to the Academy was difficult at first. Used to sleeping in, he frequently had trouble paying attention in class. One incident had his professor make him stand up for the rest of the semester, so his snoring wouldn't interrupt his lectures. This, combined with this higher than average height led to the nickname 'Tiny'.

As a naval tactician, he prefers high speed maneuvers designed to maneuver in order to exploit the weaknesses of the enemy, then launch a devasting strike with all available weapons. Not very fond of standard Star Fleet operating procedure, he prefers to improvise depending on the situation, giving him great flexibility, but also puts the ship at higher risk. Another favoured strategy is constantly distrubuting more power to whichever part of the shield is facing the enemy, a move that requires great concentration especially during high speed combat.

A very capable Cadet, has shown exemplary capability as a tactical officer. He bases his strategy around the belief that it is as important to demoralize an enemy as to defeat it. An example of this would be his tendency to use overwhelming force to quickly subdue opponents, rather than face drawn out engagements.. A potential discipline problem may arise with him acting without direct orders. Recommend he be assigned as a tactical officer under an experienced senior staff for further development.
Cadet Shepard also completed the pilot training program and is certified in all ship classes.

While his academic record speaks for itself, it is not without a price. Cadet Shepard can easily be categorized as arrogant and cocky due to his complete confidence in his abilities. While this may rub people the wrong way, it is because of this that he is able to drive himself towards success.
This confidence does lead to him taking the initiative when the decision it not his to make. It could be due to a lack of discipline but if such tendencies are curbed, he could potentially be a good leader.
Undeniably he is a capable capable with potential. He needs to be moulded by senior staff into the the great Star Fleet officer he could be.
