((DS9/USS Titan))

::Montgomery stood watching the docking ring. Not
really making any attempt to move toward it. He had
just a couple things with him. He had the mass of his
possesions beamed over to his quarters an hour ago.
All he had were his most valuable of his things. As
usual they were his ancestral clothing and his dirk.
He wore his kilt and dirk on dress occasions. The dirk
was their for special reasons espicially because he
didn't carry a duty phaser with him on those
occasions. After a couple minutes Chief Hunt walked
up.::

Hunt: Scary, isn't it.

Montgomery: I guess so, it kind of makes me angry
though. This has been my third posting in at least
month.

Hunt: Well, the Ranger has been my home for I believe
6 years. Well we might as well go, get settled in.
Maybe we could have some Holodeck fun later.

Montgomery: Sure why not.

::With that Montgomery and Hunt walked through the
docking ring for the first time. The spilt at the
turbolift. Hunt's Quarter's were a level below
Montgomery's. After unpacking Montgomery headed to the
Security office. Most of the crewmen saluted and then
went about their business. A lot of them were younger
than him. Thaey had either just gotten out of the
Academy or just recently enlisted. He then Went up to
the Bridge. It was quite a bit more plush and spacious
than the Ranger. He guessed he could get used to that,
smiling. Admiral Kelly turned to see who had just come
in. Montgomery saluted and asked.::

Montgomery: Ensign Montgomery Chief of Security
reporting for duty sir. (OOC-Just formalities you
know.)

Everyone - as per the Admiral's orders, you are all now off the USS
Ranger-A list.
Take this to mean you will be posting here solely.

It was an honour serving with those of you I've come to know - a few
of you since I was an Ensign - even fewer of you since before then.

Have fun on your journeys in the final frontier, people - and
know...I'm always keeping a watchful eye on you!

(( DRAIGON'S quarters on board the TITAN ))

:: Even after Kell's appearance in the middle of their conversation Draigon was able to have fun with his friends Nova and Covington. After spending way to much time partying and drinking with his friends the party finally wrapped up. He said his good byes with all his crewmates and he started back to his new ship. Halfway into the Ranger's docking tunnel he stopped turned and looked around and laughed. It had become such a habit to board the Ranger, drunk he had completely forgotten. After a few moments he turned and staggered himself to the TITAN. Once on board he had to ask several technicians where his quarters where. ::

:: Draigon moved his way down the hallway in what seemed an eternity to finally stumble into his quarter's. To tired to ask for the lights he just tried to feel his way around the room. His foot caught something and he went sprawling on the floor.::

:: Well I guess this will do.::

:: Draigon thought jovially.::

:: Well tomorrow will bring duty on this new ship. I can't wait new weapons and tac systems to learn. This is going to be fun. ::

:: With half drunken delusions of saving the ship with weapons fire Draigon passed out some where on the floor of his quarters. ::

Ok, Here is where we are now. We are expecting the formal transfer of one
more officer, likely named Alice Falcon, an android, before we ship off.
Assuming she does join us, assuming the new officer we got, Mr. Jensen, is
still with us, here is the RANGER roster:

Adm Brian Kelly, Commanding Officer, Terran Male
LtCmdr Kell Perim-Mitchell, First Officer, Trill Female
LtCmdr Flash Nova, Science Officer and Counselor, Trill Male
Lt Theodore Draigon, TAC, Terran Male
Ltjg Keeve Los, Chief Engineer, Bajoran Male
Ensign Allen Montgomery, SEC, Terran Male
Ensign Alex McQueen, CMO, Terran Male
Ensign Mathew Jensen, Unassigned, Terran Male
Ens Alice Falcon, Unassigned, Android Female

Ok, now with the departure of Lt Young to RANGER and the vacancy in
engineering left by Kell becomming the FO, I decided rank allowed Keeve Los
the position of engineer, to see how he does with it. Helm/Com/Ops is open
for either Jensen or Falcon to take, first come first serve.

Adter that, Asst positions are available for all slots with the exception of
science.

OOC: This sim will seperate the lists at last and let us both get to the
business of starshipping. Terra, if you would, please seperate the lists to
make sure the officers on each ship are on the right ships. You will stay on
TITAN and I will stay on RANGER. Send me email confirmation of the correct
composition of the lists and we'll get going.

((DS9 Hall))

GOODING: Uh...Admiral Kelly, sir. Would you like a beer?

::Kelly turned to see an eager young officer who'd be on RANGER now, formerly
of ISANNAH...an officer who would be serving with Terra.::

KELLY: Sure.

::Kelly accepted the beer and raised the glass. The officers from both ships
nearby raised thiers.::

KELLY: To the Commander and crew of the USS RANGER. To those to whom the
eternal vigialence, the price of peace, shall pass.

GOODING: You are considered a legend, at the Academy. I never thought I
would actually serve on the ship that you made famous.

::Kelly laughed.::

KELLY: The CREW made her famous, ensign...?

GOODING: Oh, sorry, I'm Ensign Jack Gooding. I'll be serving under
Commander...I mean Captain Terra with the Ranger.

KELLY: Pleased to meet you, ensign. And thanks for the beer.

GOODING: What is it that you will miss most about the Ranger?

KELLY: What we always miss about things in life that change...the familiar.
But growth demands it, and discomfort, having to get used to new things, is
part of it.

GOODING: What is Captain James Tera like, sir?

::Kelly laughed quietly. What answer could be give that wouldn't start Terra
off on the wrong foor?::

KELLY: He's not as much as an old son of a bitch as me.

::The ceremony died down and seperate groups broke apart to head here and
there. Kelly made his way to Terra for a last private moment...::

KELLY: Feeling a little overwhelmed?

TERRA: ???

KELLY: Oh know. Just remember, Jim, if I thought you couldn't handle it, I
wouldn't have passed on you taking her. Just remember, I'm a secure channel
away if you need anything. Like where the head is.

TERRA: ???

::Kelly embraced the younger man and then, after a long look, nodded to Kell
Perim-Mitchell, who looked even MORE preoccupied than she had before. They
walked to the docking ring and onto TITAN.::

KELLY: I'm expecting our orders'll be watiing for me when I get to my
quarters, but unless you want MORE to think about, how about we wait until
morning?  Breakfast, say 0620?

PERIM-MITCHELL: ???

::Kelly nodded and headed for his quarters as the rest of his officers headed
for thiers. He knew they were expecing one or two more by morning, but all
that would be sorted out then. His quarters were twice the size of those on
RANGER, and twice the mess. The only things that mattered were the pictures
of Alis and Corrine, which were set in thier place by his night table. He
blew a kiss to them both, and then closed his eyes, but sleep came slowly.::

::Tommorrow would start a new chapter in his life...::

He couldn't hear what they were talking about so he

MITCHELL: I'm pregnant, SIR, with twins. They're Jacks. ::She added.::
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll let you get back to the party. ::Her voice
dripped with cynicism.::

::Turning on her heel, she prepared to stomp away, but Jim instinctively
fastened his hand onto her shoulder. ::

TERRA: Pregnant?

::: He half-whispered, his face was, for the first time since Jack's death,
concerned for Kell - not angry. He could tell several people would have
looked over or overheard Kell's exclamation and gotten the wrong idea - but
he didn't care. He realised, with a shocking self-honesty, that when faced
with something like this he didn't care what his new crew OR Arissa
thought... ::

TERRA: Pregnant...

:: He whispered again, in awe. When he looked into her conflicted, tearful,
bloodshot - yet beautiful - eyes, he knew she didn't take Jack from him. His
death was not her fault. He saw only the eyes of his closest friend. He saw
the grief - the grief he himself had experienced, both for losing Jack and
fighting with each other...he embraced her in a deep hug, letting her tears
drop on his neck, meaning so much more to him than the rank pips they now
adorned. As he held her the rest of their surroundings faded to
insignificance with her problems... ::

ought to say good bye to Commander Terra. He was the

::Kell stood preoccupied behind Kelly the entire time. After being bombed with the news she was pregnant, McQueen had chosen that time to inform her of the transfer. The gym was out and a dress uniform was in. Goody. No wonder she couldn't concentrate on what the Old Man was saying.::

::Sure, sure, it was a sacred event. Jim was getting his own ship -- HER SHIP -- and she was moving to another. She was transferring for the first time in her life, and not only that but was leaving the job of Chief Engineering Officer behind. With Jim gone now, she was to take his place as First Officer, and of a Sovereign Class vessel nonetheless! And she was pregnant!::

::GOOD LORD, she was pregnant. And twins! TWINS!! Jack was half-Klingon and conceiving from a Klingon was a very difficult thing to do. Then again, Trill's were very fertile, which probably made up for it... She was pregnant. What on earth was she going to do?::

::When Jim stood to give his speech, Kell sucked in a sharp breath. She found that she was constantly looking at him, and watched painfully as he acted as though she didn't exist. What was he going to think? How was he going to react? She was carrying his best friend's children -- his LATE best friend's children. She, whom he blamed. Closing her eyes slowly, she took a deep breath. He had to know, but how would she tell the stubborn man? He had alot on his mind, being a new Captain and all -- would he be able to handle the news?::

::She had to tell him.::

::Not really noticing when it all was over, Kell dazedly shook other Officer's hands, nodding her thanks to their congratulations, not really filing everything away. Time was getting warped -- all she could think about was the two lives forming within her, and how Jim would react.::

::Would she be able to take care of them, and on this ship? Would she be a good mother? How would they grow up, without a father? Then again, she managed. Tucking that thought away, she offered the next person in line a smile and a nod.::

::Where was Jim?::

::Skimming through the crowd, she found him talking to Draigon and another man whom she didn't recognize. Not caring, and determined to get this off her chest, she surged forward.::

MITCHELL: Hi, sorry... You'll excuse me gentlemen, but I need to speak to Commander Terra. ::She smiled.:: Ship stuff. ::Looping her arm through Jim's, she felt him stiffen up. Biting her bottom lip, she dragged him to a corner where the bustle of the room was less likely to affect their conversation.:: Jim, there's something I need to talk to you about...

::Kell allowed herself to be bustled to one of the bio-beds and hoisted herself on top of it. Locking her feet at the ankles, she let one hand lay gracefully in her lap -- a habit -- and the other was quickly put to work pinching the bridge of her nose yet again, another habit whenever she had a headache. It never really made much of a difference, in all actuality, but was more of a comfort-thing. She had done it since she was little...she supposed it could be categorized as a habit too.::

::Eyeballing the tricorder as it swept over her body, she shifted in her seat. Good Lord, she hated anything pertaining to medical equipment. She was the bane of any doctor's existence when it came to annual examinations

MCQUEEN: So, how are we feeling today? ::He asked her.::
MITCHELL: Very, VERY sick. ::Her face contorted.:: I wanted to go and work out in the ship's gym, but decided to stop by here and get something to that would put an end to this nausea. This place gives me the creeps... ::She added as a afterthought under her breath.::

::Snapping the tricorder closed, he studied it for a minute before offering her a look that she couldn't quite make out. Was it sympathy? Worry?::

MCQUEEN: Well, Commander, I've got some news.

::Kell chewed her bottom lip.::

MITCHELL: Am I sick? Can't you fix it?

::Nova grinned. Times like this were what Nova had REALLY joined the

but he really came to meet the people. Nova had met more people
serving on the Ranger, than he had any other time in his life. He

:: After Jim had stepped down from the podium and reunited with Arissa, he
noticed another familiar face. Seeing Nova was on his own, looking out
thoughtfully, Jim excused himself from Arissa and started over there... ::

oO I seem to be with her hardly at all nowadays, but at least we can look
forward to being stationed on the same ship... Oo

Terra: Flash! Did you really think I'd let you go off gallivanting around
the galaxy without even a goodbye??

((Docking Lounge))

::Nova was one of the earliest officers in the room, he always had a
habit of doing, which was much different then his original work
habits- which he had been thinking of alot recently. By now,
everyone knew about the posting to the new ship, and as many of the
Titan's crew, that still sounded strange to Nova, and the new Ranger
crew, came in, Nova looked over at the massive ship that was
waiting. That was the Titan. It was Nova's first good look at the
ship. His stuff had been moved there, but he hadn't spent much time
there yet. In fact- Nova wasn't even sure if he HAD gone there yet.
He was putting it off, for some reason, although he wasn't really
sure why.::

::The lounge was filled to the max now, and it was exploding with
starfleet coloured shirts all over. There were alot of people here
that Nova didn't know- either Issanah crew, or new Titan crew, since
it is a much larger ship than the Ranger was. He of course had met
the senior officers from the Issanah already, and there was a
Lietenant j.g. Keeve who was going to be a Titan officer.::

::Nova listened to the admiral speak. Jim followed up. Nova hadn't
really noticed that Jim was such a good public speaker before. He
did a good job to 'sell the deal'. This was one of the things that
he had never learned about his friend, and he regretted others that
he probably had missed too.::

::All this didn't change anything. The feelings that were going
around the room would just die in time, the ships would launch, life
would go on. Even at the end, Nova was still staring at the ship.::

::He decided then, he was going to explore the Keeper of the flame.
That was final.::

(( Sickbay ))

::Everything had been slow in sickbay until Draigon came in. That
was how sickbay was, though: long periods of boredom with nothing to
do but study medical journals fraught with brief stints of chaotic
treatment of trauma patients.::

::McQueen knew what a person looked liked before they passed out due
to lack of blood and Draigon was the tall security officer was the
most likely candidate. The doctor ran over to Draigon at the same
time the two other nurses, Joyce and Danny caught the tall security
and helped over to the nearest biobed.::

::McKnight yelled McQueen's name and McQueen turned around once
Draigon was on the biobed. McKnight threw a small, medical tricorder
at McQueen from the across the sickbay. McQueen caught the
instrument and without breaking stride began scanning the security
officer.::

::He read off the readings to Joyce, the short, blond headed nurse.::

McQueen: Amylase count is fine, electrolyte levels are low...

::Danny was already picking the glass shards out of Draigon's hand as
McQueen asked Joyce to bring him an anabolic protoplaser.::

McQueen: Lucky for him, he hasn't lost enough plasma for a
transfusion...Joyce, can you get me some of those Betadine wraps,
please?

::Joyce rushed back with the protoplaser that McQueen had asked for
and cleaned up the biobed and Draigon's wound with the anti-infectant
blue pieces of cloths. Once she was through, McQueen began to move
the protoplaser over the wound.::

::Slowly, but surely, the protoplaser regenerated the damaged cells
on the hand. It took a little while, but the damage done to the
man's hand was almost gone.::

::Suddenly McQueen received a call from another security officer
saying that Montgomery had been wounded in the leg. McQueen had the
man beamed to the next biobed.::

::Since it was a general rule, when there were no mass casualties and
no need to triage, that those who started treating a wounded crew
member should not leave that crew to treat another one who was not
more seriously wounded. Montgomery was in the same triage category
as Draigon, so McQueen asked Dr. McKnight to handle him as the nurses
scurried around bringing the instruments that the doctors needed.::

::McQueen was almost through healing the damaged cells on Draigon's
hand when Danny offered to take over with the protoplaser. McQueen
handed the medical instrument to the other medical officer and was
about to check on how Montgomery was doing when he heard the doors
swoosh open and in came the Trill woman...Kell Perim.::

::She didn't seem to the hypochondriac, so McQueen was rather puzzled
why she was in sickbay if she was not mortally wounded. However, as
McQueen stepped closer to her, he saw that she was very pale and
gripping her stomach.::

::He helped her to the nearest biobed as Joyce handed him a medical
tricorder. Dr. McKnight was helping Montgomery and Danny was
finishing up with Draigon, so those two would be okay. McQueen would
check on them in a minute. Joyce, the other nurse was moving all
over sickbay making sure the other three medical officers had what
they need to treat the patients.::

McQueen: So, how are we feeling today? ::he asked her::

::McQueen scanned the woman with the medical tricorder. Her neuronal
pathways and receptor systems were off the chart. Her body was
trying to eliminate toxins that weren't really there. McQueen
thought it was probably due to the stress she had been through and
her neurophysiological system wasn't coping well. He wouldn't be
surprised if she threw up all over him. It wouldn't have been the
first time. It had happened before to McQueen in starfleet medical
school.::

Perim: ?

Draigon: ?

Montgomery: ?

Anybody: ?

:: Jim listened with half an ear to the words of Admiral Kelly - the man who
had been a mentor, and, at times, a surrogate father for his whole Starfleet
career. The other half of his attention was on the people below - some
friends, some strangers, all looking up at them...the fact that he would be
Commanding many of them was almost as emotional as the fact that he would be
leavin many of them. Momentarily he made eye contact with Lieutenant
Commander Perim, but quickly looked away and to Kelly- ::

::Kelly turned and saluted his first officer, and accepted one, then
exchanged a warm handshake and smile.::

KELLY: Commander, I now relinquish command of USS RANGER-ALPHA, NCC Zero
Eight Two One, to your command authority, and accept command from the
transfer officer of USS TITAN, NCC Seven Eight One Six Four.

:: Not being able to resist, Jim turned to look back through the window to
see the mighty Ranger - her beauty, in his mind, not diminished by the fact
she was overshadowed by the huge USS Titan...for the first time it really
sunk in, after all this time, she truly was his...for the long run. The
Command chair was his. The Ready room - his....It was a humbling thought and
for a moment the Commander didn't trust his voice, so it was only with a nod
that he took the podium. ::

:: Taking a deep breath and clearing his throat, he gripped either side to
stop his nerves making him crack his knuckles, or wring his hands. ::

Terra: This...this is a big moment for me. I've never been much for
speeches, as those of you who know me will know...

:: He sighed again, wishing he'd rehearsed what to say instead of going for
good old spontaneousity. ::

Terra: To my new crew, I say this: I know that this has been an unsettling
transition for you, and what's more you're now under the command of a new
Captain you've never even MET before. You're expected, by oath, to entrust
your lives and careers to me...That's a lot of trust to place in a stranger.
So I want you to know that I'm trying to prove myself to you, as much as you
are to me. I look forward to getting to know you all and working with you.
It is my true hope that we live up to the legend that is Ranger, and those
that have preceded us...here's to future adventures in the final frontier,
everyone.

:: With that, and to widespread applause and hoots from some of those in the
audience who knew the Commander well, Jim accepted a glass and raised it
towards the audience. He stepped aside so anybody else could take the
podium, and stepped down into the assembled group. Some of the crew from
Ranger of old clapped him on the back and he felt true pride...He caught
Arissa's eye and weaved his way towards her past the crowd, standing besides
her, hand in hand, they looked out at Ranger, and smiled - Jim almost
overwhelmed by the responsibility that would soon be his... ::

OOC: This is a long sim, but it's meant to be the "Official" Seperation of
the crews sim because I see that all officers are not able to post to all
lists, but I and Terra are. So he and I will do this sim to announce the
developments, and then we will seperate and go (sniff) our seperate ways. I
believe Admiral Wolf is on at least one of these lists, but until he verifies
that, I will copy him so this can be sent "officially" to the rest of the
fleet -- it's a rather momentous event. This also assumes the ISANNAH crew
have arrived via the BROADSWORD.

((Docking Lounge Gold, DS9))

::Kelly watched the crews of both ships filter in...well, the officers and
non-coms, really; between RANGER and TITAN there were over two hundred
officers and non-coms alone, and no room for enlisted. The enlisted of both
ships, however, were currently sitting in TITAN's massive diplomatic
reception area watching the proceedings on a large screen, with liberal
amounts of real and synthahol and the best the TITAN's galley could
provide...::

::Next to Kelly on the podium was Commander Terra and the senior officers
from both ships, old and new alike. They had met and spoken, so there were
smiles and new acquaitences...just as there were also misty eyes as well.::

::The room quieted. In the darkness outside the massive window, RANGER's
refit crew had stopped thier 24/7 work to let the ship sit in her beauty, her
age, her dignity, for this ceremony. Next to her, larger and leaner,
younger, was the TITAN. Kelly still didn't feel at home on her yet, though
his things had been moved...::

KELLY: Welcome to a happy and sad occaision. Sad, because it is time for
goodbyes to friends and shipmates, goodbyes to places which were home.
Happy, because the lifeblood of the Starfleet is her officers and crew, and
with growth there is the pain of loss, but growth is a good thing.

KELLY: Although thier promotions are still pending, I feel confident that
next to me on the dais are future captains and first officers. To grow, they
must seperate. Some from the ship which has been thier home, some from
friends, though they themselves remain.

KELLY: Just as RANGER will never be the same without those who leave, TITAN
will never seem the same home without those who will not sail with her. And
yet the uniformed service has always been thus, and always will, as long as
good officers and crew answer the call.

::Kelly paused to let people collect thier emotions. Him, too...::

KELLY: So I say goodbye to the ship which was home, and to the officers, past
and present, who served with her...and died in her service. I know Captain
Terra, when he makes that title officially, will do her tradition proud in
her new mission profile.

::Terra nodded and stepped to the podium...::

::Kelly accepted the bottle. It was old, and very good. Very rare, moreso
than his own vintage, Jameson's...::

KELLY: Thanks, Mr. Draigon. No hard feelings, and I appreciate your wanting
to help.

::They shook hands, and Draigon left.::

:: MORIMOTO sat outside the ready room waiting for Kelly to be finished with his meeting. Just then a young man came out looking very excited and sad at the same time. The man glanced at him for a moment and then moved on. With Kelly free he moved into the Ready room. ::

MORIMOTO: Excuse me. I hope I can still have that moment Admiral?

MORIMOTO: Thank you. I wanted to give you this.

MORIMOTO: No problem Admiral. I wanted to make piece. I know I kind of bullied my way in here before but when I think I can help I get head strong. Well I also brought you a report from the preliminary hearing. My investigators found a corrupted processor in the message transfer equipment. So all the files received were also corrupted and hence forth dismissed along with all the charges to Kell.

MORIMOTO: I saw how disturbed you were at the possibility of us toying with the Judicial system.

MORIMOTO: I wanted to first assure you I had no intent of toying with the system. As you can see I didn't and we got the result you wanted.
