(( T'Preen's Quarters, USS morningstar ))
:: T'Preen had woken early, showered, and dressed, and
now she found herself reading a large pile of reports
that had been filed throughout the night. She sipped a
mug of tea as she read through them. She knew she
would have to get to the Science department soon, the
reports could wait until she was at the office. As she
laid the PADD down on the table, the console beeped as
another message came in. It was from Mr. Kai, a
commentary on the problems that various shipwide
systems were still having. ::
:: She was about to stand up when the door chimed. She
acknowledged and told the person to come in. As she
stood up, she saw a familiar face. ::
Darby: Hey stranger.
:: Nick Darby was a man of average height, he had
perhaps 2 or 3 inches on T'Preen. He kept his brown
hair relatively short for as long as she had known
him. She had known him for years now, since her first
day at the academy. They had become friends, and had
stayed friends. He was assigned to Titan a year or so
back. She had not been sure if he would be assigned to
Morningstar. apparantly her question had been
answered. ::
:: she stood up and walked over to him. He he hugged
her, then released her and stood back. ::
Darby: surprised to see me?
T'Preen: Surprised? Not entirely. I knew there was a
chance that you would be assigned here. Please? Yes,
it is agreeable to have another friend aboard.
:: He smiled jokingly ::
Darby: High praise coming from you. You heading to
work?
T'Preen: Yes. You are welcome to walk with me.
Darby: Great. I've got to report to the main
shuttlebay. I might actually get assigned to piloting
duty, they had me stuck on shuttle and fighter
maintenence back on Titan.
:: She gestured for him to walk with her ::
T'Preen: So, you were lucky enough to be assigned to
Morningstar.
Darby: Yeah. I put in a request for her myself, but I
wasn't sure.
T'Preen: Why did you request her?
Darby: Well, I was getting settled on Titan, didn't
want to lose that. Plus, my favourite Vulcan in the
universe is here too.
:: She did not have to look at him to know he was
smiling jokingly. no matter how much she ignored his
humour, he had never changed the way he acted around
her. She had, in a way, even grown to like it in some
ways. It had provided some much needed relief during
stressful times at the academy, even though she never
allowed herself to show that she liked it. ::
T'Preen: Well I am glad to see that you are aboard.
:: They reached the shuttlebay, where Nick had to
stop. ::
Darby: well, this is my stop. I'd really like it if we
could get together tonight, you know, old time's sake.
Dinner maybe?
T'Preen: I would like that. I am working very late
hours tonight, but if you are willing to have a late
dinner, I would be happy.
Darby: Great. Just give me a call when you get off.
T'Preen: Agreed.
:: He turned and entered the shuttle bay, and she
proceeded on to the daunting tasks that awaited her in
the science office. ::
