(( OUTPOST BETA, Cargo Bay 6 ))
:: She tried to activate the console, but it
wouldn't power up. She helped Wilson remove the access panel to the
console. Jenn put down the toolkit and opened it up.::
Wilson: Rowan, could you open up that panel
over there :: pointing to the wall :: and see if you can reroute some
power to this terminal.
Rowan: Sure, I can try.
:: Kaitlyn nodded as she moved to the panel.
She pried it open and began working on rerouting power. Even though she
wasn't an engineer, she had some basic engineering knowledge. ::
::After several minutes, the console
flickered to life. They, then began looking at the screens trying to
find the best way to the main computer room.::
Wilson: Sir, we have power back to the
computers and Rowan and I are looking for the best possible route to
the computer core. We should have something for you in a few minutes.
ILIC: A progress... excellent.
:: Kaitlyn raised her head and looked at
Alex. There was something about his voice... sarcastic tone that
wasn't usual for him. ::
WILSON: Cmdr. I have a status on the outpost.
ILIC: Well, don't keep it to yourself, Ensign.
WILSON: We have primary power to about 50
percent of the outpost. Weapons and shields are down and probably not
repairable. The entire outpost with the exception of decks 2-4,
sections a-h are filled with nitrogen, and sulfur dioxide along with
low levels of mercury. Nothing that the evac suits can't handle.
ILIC: Alright... Anything else?
WILSON: Nothing major, but the sensors aren't
working completely accurately. It's reading twenty lifesigns instead of
ten. I'll work on it right away.
ILIC: See what you can do, Ensign.
WILSON: I'll let Rowan status you on the
safest route to the computer room.
:: When Alex looked at Kaitlyn she could see
a flicker of something in his eyes. Her concern for him was getting
stronger. ::
ROWAN: We will have to by pass Junction C5, I
suggest the jefferies tubes around to Junction C7. Then it's a
straight shot.
ILIC: ???
:: Moments later, one of the security
officers spoke up. ::
GARNER: Commander, I'm getting life contacts
on my own tricorder. I don't believe the sensors are giving Ensign
Wilson a bad reading, sir.
ILIC: ::smirks:: Oh? ::sigh:: Where are
these... contacts then?
GARNER: They're in the general direction of
the computer core, sir. I screened out our own lifesigns to be sure
the tricorder wasn't registering sensor ghosts...
:: Kaitlyn looked down at the console. The
readings on the screen confirmed what Garner was saying. ::
GARNER: ...There is something down there,
sir. Ten something's if this thing is giving me an accurate reading,
and I have no reason to think it isn't.
ILIC: (smirked) I take it you have
suggestions, crewman?
GARNER: Let me take Crewman Lee and do a
probe of the area first. Speers will remain here with the main party.
ILIC: Right, shoot first, ask questions
later. Excellent strategy... ::he looks away from Garner:: Wilson,
Rowan, can you confirm these new life forms or not? ::he turns to Sarah
and Aeryn:: What about you two? Do you pick up anything?
oO What is wrong with him? Oo
:: Kaitlyn frowned at Alex. She wanted to
say something to her but felt it would be out of line. ::
ROWAN: I'm detecting the same things.
ANYONE: ???
:: Suddenly, a flash of light attracted
everyone's attention. ::
SPEERS: Movement! We got movement, people!
ILIC: ::he swiftly turns to three
yellow-shirts:: Well, check it out, dammit! (loud whisper) Rest of
you, take cover!
ANYONE: ???
ILIC: Talk to me people. What can you see?
Are they hostiles? Counselor, do you sense anything?
ROWAN: Sensors are down again, Commander. ::
picking up her tricorder :: Tricorder is dead as well.
ANYONE: ???
