:: The captain had just finished the promotion ceremony, taking the
time to acknowledge the accomplishments of his newly promoted
officers. It had indeed been a tough mission and now with the latest
change of assignments, promotions were a welcome diversion.::

AVATAR: Congratulations everyone. Now let's eat!

:: Ramirez sligthly raised his hand to catch Avatar's attention ::

AVATAR: Lieutenant Ramirez, do you have something to add?

RAMIREZ: If you don't mind, I'd like to say a few words, Captain.

AVATAR: Be my guest.

:: Ramirez stood up ::

RAMIREZ: First, I don't want people to think that I'm sucking up to
the boss... Well... Okay, I am, but I really mean what I'm about to
say. I want to thank you, Captain, because I don't think we would
actually deserve those promotions if we weren't following your lead.
You're a fair man that gives a chance to every runner that ends up
under your responsibility. Sometimes, all people need is a chance to
prove what they're made of and you're one of the few out there that
don't kick people out at the first sign of trouble. And that, I think,
is what brings the best in all of us. We screw up, you kick our
behind, but you keep us with you and that only makes us want to give
you our best every time you need it. So today, I raise my glass ::
joining the move to the words :: and salute you.

AVATAR: I appreciate that and for all that has been said tonight, I
have no doubt that we will be very successful as the administrators of
StarBase 118. Enjoy.

:: The crew resumed their attention to the food and casual
discussions. The captain was reaching a point where he was prepared
to call it a night when he was approached by Counselor Gear.::

GEAR: Captain, might I have a word with you...?

AVATAR: Absolutely counselor, what can I do for you?
