Kind of funky coincidence. I used the name Cirque d'Obscurité in my novel. That's why I was shying away from the circus theme in creating a team--I didn't want too much overlap with the book.

Background
Jules was discovered by Docteur Celerat in the wilds of Trinidad near the city of Arima. The doctor had heard about a "spider boy" living in the jungle. It took the doctor well over a week to track down the elusive "spider boy". Naturally the doctor was by himself when Jules lept out of the trees crashing into Docteur Celebrat. Jules thought he had the strange man pinned, but before he knew it he was flying away from the man crashing into a tree. He was up in a flash ready to face this intruder. Jules was a little suprised that the man hadn't moved from where he was standing. This also intrigued Jules, most people who met him ran away screaming about a monster. So Jules paused to study the man.
Eventually Docteur Celerat was able to calm the boy using a little charm he had on him. Docteur Celerat told the boy that he was looking for a young man like himself to be in his circus. Life would be better travelling the roads with Le Cirque du Macabre than living in a cave on Trinidad. Docteur Celebrat promised Jules that he would make Jules as rich as he'd like.
Life in the wilds of Trinidad was bad, and it didn't take much for Jules to make up his mind to follow Docteur Celerat. As a member of Le Cirque du Macabre, Jules has taken the stage name L'Araignee or the Spider.
Personality
Jules knows that he's a freak. However, he hates it when people are constantly pointing the fact out to him. Jules really resent that. The quickest way to enrage Jules is to make fun of his appearance. It only with the help of the other members of the circus that keeps Jules from going on a rampage. Still Jules is very much the follower. This as well keeps him in check. Jules will do anything that Docteur Celerat tells him to do.
Quote
"You think your are so tough. Well mister, here's webbing in your eyes."
Powers
L'Araignee is super-humanly strong, and uses his strength to run real fast, and leap far. Growing over of his torso are two pairs of spider-like limbs. L'Araignee uses his spider limbs as weapons and is able to deliver rapid fire strikes against his foes.
His head is shaped like a spiders, and his eyes are multi-faceted allowing him to see all round. However, unlike a true spider, L'Araignee is able to spit a glob of webbing at his foes that wraps them up when the webbing hits. L'Araignee's eyes are quite sensitive, and he's able to see at night.
Appearance
L'Araignee is half human and half spider. His head is shaped exactly like a spiders and he has mult-faceted eyes. Also growing out of his body are four hairy spider legs. Due to his unusual body shape, L'Araignee only wears a pair of jeans with boots. The rest of his body appears normal, except for his head and spidery limbs. His appearance can be quite frightening.
Nice job on both of those! I am blown away at all of the character art
on the site, it's an unbelievable amount of work. Definitely a hats-off
to you guys, it's really impressive. And high quality too.
I've put up pictures of Nigghtshade and Thrasher for comments (especially from the players of those characters).
I have to admit drawing a girl with bat arms, big bat ears and fangs
has been one of the hardest ones to do so far! I'm pretty sure
it's not exactly what you were after!
And, as for Thrasher, I kind of had to put shades on him because I made
his head too big without them. It's the mohawk, I tell ya!
Oh yeah, and Danny's Velociraptor Form now has a picture. Go to Raptor Boy and click on his Multipower link.
Thanks! You're welcome to use that "Showdown" image for the front page.
Or, if you have a more specific image/theme/subject in mind you want to
see on the front page, feel free to let me know and I'll be happy to
work on it.
Oh boy, Jeff, I'd love you to work on some art for the Uberworld Front Page.
Great stuff!

Mini-Doom's background is that he is an animatronic figure created for the Hero City theme park in the Villain's Alley section. He was part of a ride that spoofed/used as source material a major supervillain (in the GGU, it was Lord Doom), and was supposed to represent that villain as a child. He was not created by Lord Doom, but was accidentally brought to life by Daemon.
I'd like to keep as much of that as possible. Lord Doom was a good choice because he was an evil tyrant, but not really a mass murderer. As I understand it, Witch Doctor *is* a mass murderer, so he wouldn't be a good choice.
The villain doesn't need to tie in to robots or have the same power set as Mini-Doom. But I'd rather not impose a sex change on Mini-Doom, so Iron Maiden is out.
I might just have to create someone appropriate, a Doctor Doom riff of some sort.
Hmm...Yeah Witch Doctor might not be appropriate. Maybe Iron Maiden, she likes building robots, but she's not really a major villain. 07-737, might be a better option. He could have created Mini-Doom to better understand organics that he's trying to destroy

I've had a look at the files section you've already set up and it looks really
good. Great stuff on the logos. Shall we put the logo to a poll?

I've put up pictures of Nigghtshade and Thrasher for comments (especially from the players of those characters).
I have to admit drawing a girl with bat arms, big bat ears and fangs has been one of the hardest ones to do so far! I'm pretty sure it's not exactly what you were after!
And, as for Thrasher, I kind of had to put shades on him because I made his head too big without them. It's the mohawk, I tell ya!
Oh yeah, and Danny's Velociraptor Form now has a picture. Go to Raptor Boy and click on his Multipower link.
This will probably already have been answered by the time I get to it. :o)

Here's the first attempt at an Uberworld illustration, featuring a more
"super" version of the classic Cowboys vs. Indians showdown. Hope
y'all like it.
Neil, have you decided who is going to play the "Bushido" role in the
Senshudan One team history? Is there an appropriate Japanese villain
team (probably either xenophobic or looking to take over Japan) that
would fit the bill in the Uberworld?

Koorogi also benefits from this. Unless the GMs would prefer not to
have this deal, I'd leave it in. I personally like it as it
encourages good martial arts packages. The workaround in HD2 is minor
IMHO.
It looks like it hasn't been applied to current NPCs. It would also
call for us to write up an explanation of the point break somewhere on
the site. My thought was that it might be easier to give the affected
new PCs enough XPs to cover the bonus, and not go through and give a
discount to all NPCs who would have it.
And honestly, I think that Martial Arts are already pretty cost-efficient.
I'm not wanting any PCs moving from the GGU to the Uberworld to get
hosed, though. That's why I'm recommending grandfathering the points.
There's no official list. I don't think that we've really even
discussed this. If you ask me as long as the GM thinks it's
reasonable, then I'd think that it should be allowed.
Sounds like a plan. For consistency, it might be a good idea to keep
some of the ones already used in the Yahoo file section, but maybe that
would be a pain or too limiting. Let me know what you think--if you
want some of them there, I'll put it on my to do list to create some of
them, but it would likely take quite a while.

Do you want to take a stab at it? I don't think that anyone really
wrote anything about this topic, either. I had a modified GGU one that
I used for the This Mutant Life teachers (I'm not sure if I made that
myself or if I got it from somebody).
Okay. I'm setting one up. Here are the settings I'm giving it:
Characters are built on 200/150 points, but HD will ignore it if you change or alter these numbers.
The maximum Disads from one category are 75; the maximum active
points for an attack power are 90; the maximum for a defense power are
90. If these are exceeded, the user will get a warning, but it won't
stop the program or anything. These are default settings, I think, or
maybe the GGU version.
There are effectively no limits for points in Skills, Talents, Perks, etc.
Cost Multipliers are not used (that's where you can set certain
powers to cost twice as much, or whatever--we shouldn't really need
that).
HD will use the language familiarity chart; it will penalize for
no 1-point similarity, and literacy is free for all languages. This is
the system ultimately used in the GGU and seems to make decent sense.
I selected the "Only one Figured Characteristic may be sold off"
check box. Again, that's like the GGU. We can change that if you like.
I didn't select Use Increased Damage Differentiation, which is a
kind of crunchy option from the Ultimate Brick (basically
distinguishing the damage a STR 10 character can do vs. a STR 12
character, for example) since I figured it probably wasn't significant
and not everyone would have the Ultimate Brick. But I could easily
change it.
If a player links two different slots of a Power Framework, it
warns the player, but doesn't disallow it. Ditto if the player puts
"special" powers in a framework. If you put a non-END power in a
framework, it ignores it.
It will not automatically apply No Figured Characteristics to a Characteristic in a Power Framework.
Standard effects are allowed, but are not selected by default.
I did not select the Expanded Growth Chart from the Ultimate
Brick, but we could certainly do that. It might help distinguish
between different growing characters. What do you think?
That's about it. Essentially, it's the same as the current Guardians rules. Let me know what you think. I'll upload the file.
Hmm. I'll have to think this one over. I agree that it's cumbersome in
HD2. I'll probably be OK with grandfathering Stuntman in. If anyone's
got an opinion on this, please speak up.
I'm all for grandfathering! <grin> My opinion is that the
point break for Martial Arts is unnecessary. If that means that
Stuntman loses some points, I'll live with that.
Could Stuntman have been a former Immortal? Or possibly belonging to
another group that hasn't been created yet? I guess it depends on when
it happened.
I'm kind of for the idea of creating a large group of Chinese
heroes/state ubers who are kind of a large second tier group. The
Immortals are the #1 team, but the other team would be a little like an
uber army, used more for muscle than for PR and such. Would that be
acceptable as the group that Stuntman escaped from? Most would be
around 350 points.
We'll work out the conversion. I'm glad that you're seeking everyone's
opinion.

Koorogi also benefits from this. Unless the GMs would prefer not to
have this deal, I'd leave it in. I personally like it as it
encourages good martial arts packages. The workaround in HD2 is minor
IMHO.
