Greetings Happy Followers!
Well, things have been interesting. The meeting with the investors went
well and they are looking into finding funds to help us out. Another location
has become available that we thought would be good. It isn't as large as our
first pick but it isn't as expensive either. It has some red tape issues of its
own though so we will have to see what happens.
We finished up the taxes and to my surprise and dismay we didn't do 1/3
less as I had thought. We did start off sluggish last year, but by the end we
had HIGHER sales than the year before-despite the bad ecomomy! Which will be
GREAT news when we go back to the bank. But it was a bit rough in the interim
since that meant our sales tax was higher also.
After the big round of conventions coming up, we will be sitting down to
update the business plan and to look into grant writing. It's the one course I
didn't get in college and that I think should be in EVERY curriculum! Hopefully
between our efforts and those of our investors we will get some headway on
things!
The surprise we've been holding onto is that we've been in talks with Gozer
Games about developing one of our games from our Krystal Visions Games
department. But it isn't looking good lately and we didn't want to get
everyone's hopes up only to dash them. But all hope is not yet lost, so we will
see if we can get some closure on the matter.
We are reworking one of our other games to resubmit to Steve Jackson Games
which may get accepted this time around. We shall see. We are also starting up
our next round of conventions. And what we can squirrel away this time will go
directly towards the store instead of paying off start-up costs. So join us and
help get the store-front open!! :D
This coming weekend is Furry Connection North in Novi. I (Carina) will be
giving talks on Girls and Gaming and Anthro's and Anime. I'm really excited and
hope to see lots of you there! Our faithful protege´ Anthony will be there as
well although the spectacular Robert Barry will not.
The week after will have Robert and Anthony at MichiCon at Oakland
University in Auburn Hills. While Carina, Doug, Anne, and Dennis will be at
PenguiCon in Romulus Michigan. Yes, we are splitting forces so if you can't
make the one convention, hopefully we will see you at the other!
Memorial Day Weekend will find Robert and I at MediaWest once more. So we
will effectively have 4 conventions in one month right now. Busy, busy, busy!
We plan to be at JAFAX and Northern Michigan Anime Convention in June and
July but need to secure our spots. The same with ConClave and YoumaCon in the
Fall. I will be giving the "Girls and Gaming" talk again at ConClave along with
"Building a Better Story-arc". Again, I'm really excited about doing talks at
the conventions!
Oh, and the most amazing Chris Curran has finished a color version of our
logo for this year's shirt design. You can admire it a bit on the main page for
awhile. Angel is working on a pair of mascot pics for Mishu and Buddha our
cat-girl and cat-boy. And we are waiting excitedly for the translation of our
logo into an industrial/tribal style by the renowned artist Nigel Sade! Check
out his work at his web page: http://www.nigelsade.com/
I'm sure you will be impressed by his work! If we are lucky we will have
it before PenguiCon so we can show it off. Okay, I believe that is all the news
that's fit to print for now!
