Yeah, I really dislike that, too. This had once been the same with the King
Halfton sequence until Udo Fisher provided a fixed version for Steem where he
removed the disk checking routine. Unfortunately, the game still crashes in the
sequences mentioned above.

I hope that someday Udo Fischer fixes the missing issues as well. So Udo
Fischer, if you read this, please help!

Thanks in advance.

Thx for post.
I did not notice the version post in 459 and 460.
In 2005 i found some whdload versions, but i did not know how to use it with
winuae.

Here is a little fix for the Mortyk-Bug in the English version.

copy the DT07 file (http://www.respace.de/files/dl.php?id=mortyk) (this is the
Mortyk dungon text file, it seems the bug is that Mastyk and mortyk have the
same file in eg version) from the german (de) amiga version to
...\Games\0412_dragonflight_whd\DragonflightData ( under your winuae
installation.)

Now you the Riddlemouth(s) in Mortyk ask you in German but the password Mortyk
works now. The Rest of the game is still in english.

Hi all. I know many people have had trouble getting Dragonflight to work
properly on a PC. I can now confirm that the version I mentioned in a previous
post can be completed - see posts 459 and 460. There was a peculiar bug that
wouldn't let you enter Mortyk, but I had a hunch that maybe you didn't need to
in order to finish the game. And now I know I was right.

There is a dragon ring and the 'leave the dungeon' spell in Mortyk that you need
but you can get them elsewhere. You can find a dragon ring in Kolbralon and then
wait until the dungeon refills and then get it again. Only problem is you will
need to have the 'Leave The Dungeon' spell in order to get out again. You have
to fall down a trapdoor and there are no stairs out. Fortunately you can find
this spell on the 7th floor of Kolbralon (I discovered eventually). The Nameless

Erik Simon(?) hat in einem Interview gesagt "der Steinstab kann nicht

Weiß einer was es damit auf sich hat ?

Anybody knows another use for the stone wand other than as a weapon ?
There was a statement of a Thalion employee, but maybe he mixed

- you can't pass the hut in the Dorithannon canyon (Rilldock)
- you can't finish the game - final cave

Both the same bug: when the special program/animation should start you
"die". It does not help either if you entered a word from the manual
somewhere else.

Hi folks,

I now tried the english version of Dragonflight from Atari Legend (thanks to omalangbein for the wordlist :) )

Sadly, this version seems to be broken too.
Like e_mashall already wrote some time before, the riddle mouth in Mortyk (South Dorithannon) doesn't let me in. It is supposed to ask me for the name of the dungeon, and the answer should be "Mortyk".
Instead it asks the strange question "It is not that easy, adventurers", and does not accept anything I answered so far. A mouth nearby states "Mastyk", for whatever this means (it's not working on the riddle mouth, anyway). My old notes do not contain this mouth's text, so I don't know what it is supposed to say ...

This isn't the first bug, though:
When for the first time I descend in Eidolon from Level 6 to Level 7, I ended up in a totally different dungeon (couldn't identify it).
I was not even near a staircase. And all my collected level maps show wrong layouts too.
Luckily I had saved just before taking the stairs. Restoring to this point, the problem was gone.

Another bug might have been already in the original (english) game:
In Sertyk, Level 9, the riddle answer is "liqueur of resins", not "resin schnapps", like the in game text suggests.

There exist some equal errors in the PC DOS version of Dragonflight
as well. If you enter the same dungeon twice everything seems to be
mesed up and saving might cause damage to your savegames permanently.
Even if you load another clean savegame (in the DOS version you have
9 slots) after entering a dungeon twice the savegame might be
infected: e.g. chests are empty - although they are supposed not be!

Hi folks,

I just tried the dragonflight copy from www.dbug-automation.co.uk for a second time.
Since my first try failed because of the messed up savegames, I tried it this time without saving at all (using Steem's memory snapshot function instead)

Hi which version are you using?

Have you tried our version ?

located at www.dbug-automation.co.uk ?

Greetings to all. I played Dragonflight on my ST for months on end way
back in the day but could never finish it. Now I'm playing the HWA
version from Hoborg that I downloaded a few weeks ago(thanks
maier1103), but now I'm stuck in the game and the guides don't help.

I'm up to dungeon Mortyk in South Dorithanon and can't get past the
riddle mouth at the start. It just says 'Not THAT easy adventurers'
and waits for a response ('Mortyk' doesn't work, regardless of what
the solution pages say).

I can enter all the other dungeons ok - Eldolon, Mastyk etc - but this
ones got me stumped. A riddle mouth nearby just says 'Mastyk', hinting
that the answer lies there, but I have searched and searched and tried
everything - nothing seems to work.

Is this just a bug in my version of the game or is there an actual
answer that I am missing? Has anyone actually completed the game on a
modern emulated version? Please help - I MUST finally complete this game!

Thanks again for any help and thanks Thalion for an awesome game. I'll
try Amberstar next if I can just complete this one.

Hello Phil,

looks like I wrote my last post too enthusiasticly :(

Seems like dbugs's version of dragonflight have some real problems with Gadlon.
Every savegame I took while in this dungeon crashes the game, when load after a
cold reset.
Before a cold reset, loading these savegames tend to corrupt the dungeon layout.

I finally played through the dungeon using the memory snapshot function of my
emulator.
While this seems working fine (no layout anomalies at all), I am now unable to
leave Gadlon; everytime I try it the game crashes.

Loading a savegame before Gadlon works, but as soon as I enter it all problems
show up again and again.

I have tried just every combination of RAM size, disk caching, disk or hd
install and trainer options with no luck. Of course I tried re-downloading the
disk images.
My Emulator is Steem 3.2 on a Windows XP SP3, Antivirus Software turned off
(just in case ...)

Seems like I have yet to wait another 20 years for a working copy of this game
:(

best regards
     Klaus

Hello e_marshall,

if you're gonna try dbug's version, you should at least make a savegame every
time before you enter a dungeon.

I am currently trying this version of the game (after failing with every other
German or English version ...), and when I entered Gadlon for the first time,
the dungeon layout was slightly corrupt. Playing on, the game finally crashes,
and the savegames within the dungeon did not even load anymore.
Turning back to the savegame before entering Gadlon, the bugs were gone.

We'll see if this version will be playable up to the end :)
Bye,

I'm up to dungeon Mortyk in South Dorithanon and can't get past the

I can enter all the other dungeons ok - Eldolon, Mastyk etc - but this
ones got me stumped. A riddle mouth nearby just says 'Mastyk', hinting
that the answer lies there, but I have searched and searched and tried

Is this just a bug in my version of the game or is there an actual

Sorry for the SPAM but I thought that I'd mention a copy of Jochen
Hippel's first album "Give it a try" is available on Ebay at the moment.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130249049739

Not seen one for sale for a very long time. I am not the seller, nor
do I know them.

You can read about Jochen Hippel in the Music section of the Thalion

Greetings to all. I played Dragonflight on my ST for months on end way
back in the day but could never finish it. Now I'm playing the HWA

I have discovered an easy solution. Go to
http://hobring.esero.net/games.htm
and follow the instructions on the page.

The creator of HWA (Hoborg) made it really easy,
you only need a key for WHDLoad.

Thx to Hoborg, hope this helps some people to finally complete
dragonflight!

Michael

Some further hints:
in the file "dragonflight.uae", I changed the cpu_speed from "max" to
"A500", but this may already have been updated; it's also useful to
change gfx_fullscreen_amiga from true to false, this enables
window-mode and you can view maps in a second window.
and the English password for the anti-tormentor-potion is "liqueur of
raisins"

It is as back up as it was before.

That's because I dont have them ;)

Again I've never had the English manual (at least not in the same
format as the German and French ones). I've just got an ASCII
representation which is useless for copyprotection.

Fixed.

Semi-fixed. It appears that a few files were not backed up properly
before the old site died.

So you can skip the review? Maybe I'll make that change.

> and a downloadable manual would have saved me quite some time :)

All I have is the ASCII text, which I can make available.

The new HTML server is case sensitive. Fixed.

>(for whatever reason they have been put there in the first place)

It harks back to the old dial-up-days of 1998!

Fixed.

I'll be fixing more stuff as we find it and adding more SoftPRES,
WHDload and PaSTi images as we go.

Hello Alex,

I might be just an old, grumpy man, but the website isn't realy set up yet, is
it ?

In the download section of dragonflight, the german CAPS-Version points to
caps-project.org, instead of the images.
The manual needed for the english version isn't available for download, and the
html version made by Zeg ends with page 8.

By the way, when I tried to play this and copy protection asked for a word on
page 3, nothing I tried has been accepted. Strangely, according to he index, the
novell starts by page 3 (the actual pages aren't numbered anymore) whereas the
german novell treats the same page as 1 ...

For Amberstar, the german Amiga version isn't linked properly too (seems to be
amberstar.zip instead of the given amberstar_g.zip ;) ), and the Atari-Versions
do not exist at all.
It would be nice, it the map and rune table would appear on the download page,
and a downloadable manual would have saved me quite some time :)

For Ambermoon, the english single disks are not linked properly (for whatever
reason they have been put there in the first place)

On the main page, B.Board points to (an empty page)
http://moo.cus.org.uk/~alexh/board/Ambermoon.cgi

Well, I didn't check out much more, so there may be more dead links
Good luck hunting :D

It's true we are back!

The wonderfully endowed Jools "BuZz" Smith of Exotica
(http://www.exotica.org.uk) together with the incredible Mythic Beasts
hosting (http://www.mythic-beasts.com/) have come to our rescue.

Our new URL is effectively the same as our old one
http://thalion.atari.org if you have any links which point to anything
else PLEASE update them.

Hopefully google will pick up on our change of URL (and the death of
umcus.org) soon and we'll be back at the top.

In the meantime I've prepared some updates and as soon as I can we'll
get them uploaded and on the news page!

Hi fans,

After 8 years the CURRENT home of the Thalion webshrine has closed
its doors probably for good.

Our ISP, UMCUS (Univerversity of Manchester Computer Users Society)
is finally closing after 10 years. It is mainly due lack of interest
from new students. Websites like YouTube and MySpace are so easy to
use and no student wants to learn how to be a linux admin, setup
webservers and create sites and now there is nolonger anyone at
Manchester able to reboot / fix the current problems :(

It is a shame because the UK JANET hosting was very FAST, with
almost unlimited bandwidth and yearly subscriptions were only £5 :)

All is not lost, I have had several offers to host the Thalion
webshrine from lots of people within the Atari and Amiga retro scene
so we shall be back soon.

Our URL will almost certainly be different, so look out for us on
our reflector http://thalion.atari.org later on in the year.

In the meantime (if you can read German) why not check out our rival
website The Thalion Source http://home.wtal.de/gmb/ and we will see
you when we are set up in our new home.

Both Jochen Hippel and Matthias Steinwachs created original remixes
for Immortal 2 released in 2002.

http://www.amiga-immortal.com/

Mattihas remixed Lionheart and Jochen remixed Lethal Xcess (ok, so
it isnt really a Thalion game but hey). It was a great CD.

This time Matthias is remixing No Second Prize and Ambermoon and
Jochen is remixing Wings of Death and Amberstar.

These are original remixes created by Steinwachs and Hippel in their
own studios (/bedrooms).

I applaud both for finding the time for this composition and look
forward to listening to immortal 3 for hours ;)

Even today Jochen is heralded as a genius of music and wins lots of
polls for games musician of the 90's. His first studio CD "Give it a
Try" is always in the CD player in my car.

I doubly applaud Jochen for being an Amiga programmer and porting a
lot of earlier Thalion titles to the Amiga.

Hi everyone,

I usually hate SPAM, but I think you'll like this.

That's right, Jochen Hippel and Matthias Steinwachs, Thalion's two
most famous musicians, are back. Their own personal remixes of classic
Thalion tracks feature on the soon to be released Immortal 3.

Like the prequal, Thalion musicians have more tracks on Immortal 3
than anyone else! (As they should!!)

The album is available for pre-order already and is officially
released on June 15, 2006.

European users probably want to use

http://www.synsoniq.de/productdetails.php?pid=567&searchtext=immortal&langchange\
=2

UK users might want to buy it from: http://www.c64audio.com/

Why not double your order and get Revival, the cool Atari ST Remix CD
featuring two Jochen Hippel Tracks remixed by two of the best Scene
musicians.

http://www.c64audio.com/productInfo.php?cat=STCD1

Thanks go to Matthias and Jochen for contributing to this project and
to Jan Zottman for arranging the product.

Hi everyone,

This is really a call to the Ex-Thalion members who read this list. I
am working on a Thalion timeline. Dates of when each game was
published. To begin with I am just trying to work out which order the
games were published.

There is a lot of inaccurate data on the publication dates of Thalion
games: e.g. Article from Amiga Games 1994

http://home.wtal.de/gmb/Artikel/thalionende.htm

I *think* that Chambers of Shaolin was the first Thalion game sometime
in 1989.

The next 3 games were Warp, Leavin' Teramis and "The Seven gates of
Jambala", but I am not sure in which order. Alongside Chambers of
Shaolin they were published in a bundle called "Thalion: The first year"

Then we have Wings of Death, Atomix, Tower FRA, Enchanted Land, which
were 1990 but again I have no idea in which order.

A Prehistoric Tale, Tangram, Trex Warrior, Ghost Battle were 1991
again no idea which order.

1992 saw No Second Prize, Amberstar, A320, A320 USA and Neuronics
again in no order.

1993 was Lionheart and Ambermoon.

If anyone can help me build up a timeline it would be cool. You can
get some idea from the dates that the reviews were published, but not
much.

I managed to find an hour to do some updating to the Thalion
Webshrine, most of the work is behind the scenes but it should
become apparent soon.

Updated Thalion Magazine Database
http://thalion.atari.org/thalion.txt

The list is getting quite long over 150 official magazine reviews of
the Thalion games, a great list for Ex-Thalion members CV's. Half
are already online, the other half will be available within the next
few weeks.

If anyone can contribute scans, missing data or corrections, please
msg me.

Regards

Thalion Webshrine

P.S. The next update will be original disk images. Advances in
floppy disk drive techniques and emulator knowledge means that it is
now possible to make disk images of Original Thalion game disks for
use with Emulators. Having original images ensures that nothing is
cut from the game (which could happen with cracks / Compact Disks)
the images will come in the form of Amiga SPS (Software Preservation
Society) images aka IPF and Atari PasTi images. The current images
will remain on the website for use with older emulators and XBOX
WinUAE-X

Good luck with that translation service :)
IMHO, computer aided translations are quite worthless when dealing with incomplete or grammatically wrong sentences, usually found at web pages.
Whenever I'm looking for some fun, I read the automatically translated pages on the Microsoft knowledge base :)

Anyway, just ask if you cannot decipher anything in the walkthrough, and I'll happily try to translate it for you (if time permits, that is)
