Hi all. I know many people have had trouble getting Dragonflight to work
properly on a PC. I can now confirm that the version I mentioned in a previous
post can be completed - see posts 459 and 460. There was a peculiar bug that
wouldn't let you enter Mortyk, but I had a hunch that maybe you didn't need to
in order to finish the game. And now I know I was right.
There is a dragon ring and the 'leave the dungeon' spell in Mortyk that you need
but you can get them elsewhere. You can find a dragon ring in Kolbralon and then
wait until the dungeon refills and then get it again. Only problem is you will
need to have the 'Leave The Dungeon' spell in order to get out again. You have
to fall down a trapdoor and there are no stairs out. Fortunately you can find
this spell on the 7th floor of Kolbralon (I discovered eventually). The Nameless
spell is also on the 6th floor just above it if you havn't got that one either.
I also discovered both these spells on the 6th floor of Aboltyk as well. You
could probably get these spells from here early in the game as its not really a
difficult dungeon - say the first time you get a ship. There is also a third
dragon ring in the final hidden dungeon on the 8th level so you can get this as
your final dragon ring if you like.
There were a few buggy issues initially, but I found if I just used the in game
save function and didn't use the Winuae menu then the bugs didn't, well, bug me
as much. Your supposed to purchase the Load key but I found you don't need to. I
played the whole way through without purchasing it. Though I think I will now
just out of appreciation of finally finishing this game.
In fact I don't think you need to do a lot of things to finish this game. Many
of the dungeons don't really need to be completed, but you need to get plenty of
scrolls. Is it just me or is the eltam pretty useless. for infinite HP it
doesn't seem to have an effect and as a weapon, well, the magic dagger is
better. Seems like a lot of trouble for nothing. I'm sure you don't need it to
finish the game. Anyway good luck. Have a look through the previous posts for
hints and maps. I found them quite usefull, even if you have to get past the
translation issues. :)
