A New Timescape   Message List

Hi everyone,

As I'm going on creating my new expansions for 2nd editions, I have thought of making them for the Revised 4th as well thanks to Strange Aeons incredible possibilities (expecting the board designing tool impatiently).

About Timescape, many players don't like it. Introducing sci-fi into a fantasy realm especially when you have no control of what happens there is definitely not the best expansion designed. But I like the idea of Timescape and so I've decided to create a new Timescape along with my expansions.

It will be a board where each space will be a Gate to some boards created by some of you. One will find a space linking to thr Troll World, Hell etc. of Peter Hansson, as well as the Island of Jon New, etc.

The idea is that Characters will be able to move between worlds and draw from their board space as if they were on that particular board. There will also be some specific Timescape cards which will be cross-overs between those worlds (imagine a Troll in Hell, or a Concubine on the Island).

There will also be an alternate board entirely customizable for those of you who would play this Timescape with boards not on it, to include yours.

I consider a few options, not defined yet:
1/ Players could draw from discard decks and not only draw decks
2/ Spells could be limited
3/ Some cards could travel from a world to another
Etc.

It's just a first draft and any idea is welcome.

Just as a reminder, here is the chronology of my forthcoming expansions:
- Crusades: Ages of Talisman (Age of Enlightment, Age of Darkness, Age of Dawn)
- The Burning Sands (Crusaders travel in the desert)
- Crusades: Age of Apocalypse (small add-on to Crusades)
- Crusades: Age of Renaissance (small add-on)
- Timescape & Deep Desert (Frank Herbert's Dune-based small expansion, with the clash of the Crusaders from the Burning Sands and an hidden civilization in the depths of the Desert, or more precisely, what's left of it). It'll be a mix of fantasy and fantastic or sci-fi and that's the point where I introduce the new Timescape to link those worlds.

Crusades will include the seven sins and seven virtues in the form of enemies, followers ans special cards. It'll be about a secret better left unraveled, a secret and history which will lead our heroes to the Burning sands and the world of Talisman to a decision at the brink of war.

That's all folks!
Greetings from France,
Jean-Marie

Dear Jean-Marie, that's a good idea to link many diffrent expansions. But others can only use your timescape if they use also the other expansions. The idea...

Hi Carsten, To be honest, I like your idea better. The one thing I don't like about Timescape is that one doesn't control his movement. That's the reason why,...

Hi Carsten, I have to look deeper into the Black Tower first and design my ideas. I'm planning on finishing Crusades and Burning Sands by the end of this year...

... Personnally, I like Timescape, but the sci-fi I like less. It would be easy to modify Timescape to be more like a trip through the Planes. Changing some...

I have never liked the sci-fi stuff, but we have always included the Timescape board: we simply used it as a penalty board for characters losing their mind...
