Our paired tournament took place on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Manlius Pebble Hill School, 5300 Jamesville Road, on the east side of Syracuse, NY.

Cash prizes of $100, $75 and $35 were awarded to our top three finishers, and 16 prizes were given out in all, mostly new books from Slate and Shell. Our top two winners in the A division were Jared Beck 2d from Ithaca and SUNY Upstate student Chang Kim 3d. Peter Wynn 4k won our B division with a 4-0 record, and Eric Hookway 18k won the C divsion, also with a 4-0 record.

This was a four-round tournament with handicaps used in all three divisions. Time controls were 45 min basic time with 5x30 second byo-yomi periods. Japanese rules were used with 6.5 points komi in even games.

Plenty of free refreshments were available for the hungry, including bagels and cream cheese, fruit and other snacks, desserts and drinks.
