Hi People,

Alter Ego has a new game: No Frills

_______________________________________

Hi all!

The second game in the Plain Vanilla series ended today. There will be
a write up on both games 'real soon now'.

I'm going to host another game using the same setup. "No Frills".

To wit:

Medium
Packed
Distant

AccBBS
Galaxy Clumping

CA as PRT is banned.

PPS will be turned on in 2500.

Apart from that:
Standard cheats disclaimer.
No pre-game alliances.

One winner only.
Winner by vote (active players only).
The game will be rated at SAH.

All skill levels welcome.

Hi People,

This game is filling but there is still room :-)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
No Impact

3rd Party Host: Gible Fog
Skill Level: High intermediate + (edit)
Currently has 5 players and looking for more.

A game where those who have jobs and lives outside of stars! can
fight it out within the tight and limiting confines of only a few
worlds. Average planet density is 11-14 planets/player. I think that
this idea should allow the maximal amount of PRT and race design
flexibility (w/ the exception of CA).

The game will be hosted on Autohost.
First turns will be daily up until approximately 2430.
From 2430 onward, generation will be Monday through Friday.
At 2460 it will be possible to begin voting for change to 3 gens per
week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), requiring a majority of remaining
players to agree before changing.
Any player who misses more than 4 turns consecutively will
automatically be switched to inactive.

Universe Size: Variable
- 4 Players => Tiny packed.
- 5-7 Players => Small Sparse
- 8-9 Players => Small Normal
- 10-11 Players => Small dense
- 12+ => Small Packed

Parameters:
- Slow Tech
- No Acc BBS
- Galaxy Clumping
- Private Scores (not public)

Restrictions:
- no cheats (you can use chaff and split-fleet dodge)
- no pregame alliances
- No CA (edit)
- No PP if only 4 players in tiny universe. (edit)

Email confirmation to gible at gible dot net

Edits: Changed universe sizes. Adjusted to get closer to 15
planets/player. 15 planets per player will probably give a slightly
better balance and should effectively make *most*
1WWs a dead-end strategy. Also, changed to high intermediate or
better since advanced+ will likely never get any players. Basically,
25k by 50 in a test shouldn't be an issue. Best if you've managed to
get above 50k by 50 at least once.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Summertime to you all :-)
regards,
donjon

No restrictions on race design.
No cheats except chaff, split fleet allowed

After the year 50
(play starting from the year when in-game message screen shows "2451"),
you cannot have more than 1 race set to friend at the same time, the
rest must be set to enemy.

After 50 you also cannot set new race to friend more often than in 10
years, e.g. if you set race1 to friend in 2460, you cannot set anyone
else to friend until 2470, no matter what your relations with race1 are.

Battleplan tricks used to trade/unite fleets with "enemy" races aren't
allowed either.

Gens on autohost, every 24hours. After 2430 or so, the game can be
switched to 48h on any player's request. Further schedule changes can
be arranged by voting, but I hope they won't be necessary Smile

Suggestions regarding the gen plan are welcomed Smile

Passworded racefiles can be sent to ashlynann(at)hotmail(dot)com

-----------------------------------------------------------
That all for now folk :-)

Hi People,

New Team Game from Stars!Host:

Stars! XXXIII (Absum Harpyiae)

The latin word absum is the root of our english word absence.
Harpyiae are mythical creatures who would be considered monsters by
current standards. Consequently, this game will be played absent any
monsters.

The game will be played with five teams. Each team will consist of
three players none of whom may have the same PRT. Race designs must
have low habitability (1 in 12 maximum for HE, 1 in 35 max. for CA, 1
in 25 max. for all others). All designs will be required to have 200
advantage points left over and spent on defenses in order to prevent
monster races.

This game will feature "public player scores" and a huge universe with
dense distribution. All race files must be submitted without password
protection in order to verify low habitability, PRT and advantage points.

Teams may be arranged either in advance or through a consensus of
individual players. If interested, please reply with your team
information or a request to join a team. This game is scheduled to
start in June 2005.

Regards,
Patrick D. Bryan

Hi People,

Once again, I am hosting a new game, this is a pick-up from Xcalibre
who decided he could not handle the hosting.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Game defined as follows:

-> Turns 2400-2420 played as usual - 1 turn per day (NO sunday gen)

-> Once all have submitted their 2420 turn, there will be a 100 year
'jump', where Autohost will generate 100 turns without ANY player
intervention.

-> The game will then continue as normal from turn 2520 onwards - 1
turn per day (or every 2 days pending majority vote)

The idea is that on turn 20, all players should 'setup' their races
for the 100 year jump (i.e. auto mines / factories & tech / scouting etc).

Will also be 4 alliances of 3 players each - all chosen randomly by
player numbers (which will be based on sector of start, determined by
a disinterested party in 2520):

These alliances are permanent and everyone else is set to 'Enemy'.

Winning Condition: Last Alliance Standing

Game Parameters

Looking for 12 players (for alliance system as above).
Universe will be Huge / Packed.

-> NO max minerals
-> Acc BBS
-> NO random events
-> PPS at turn 2550 (30 years after the jump)
-> Galaxy Clumping

NO 'Cheats' besides Chaff.
All PRTs allowed

Let me know what you guys think.

Places will be limited - 11 players required (12th being myself), so
if interested, send passworded race files to:

donjon AT btl DOT net

Present enrollment is: 9 players, looking for 3 more.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

donjon

Cheat Disclaimor:

Hi People,

We still have openings in two games:

Epoch of Darkness: still needing up to four advanced players.

The game description you have read or you can find it at the forum:
http://library.southern.edu/sahforum/index.php?
t=msg&th=1923&start=0&rid=31&S=8e9272dd7d161b973297a1c1073e7383

and host can be contacted at (geichler at localnet dot com)

and Babylon 5 is Gathering:

Presently we have the Ancients: The Shadow, and The Vorlon.
And we have the Lesser races: The Abbai, The Drakh, The Earth
Alliance, The Llort, The Minbari, The Pak'ma'ra...

We would like six more races:
What? No Centauri? No Narn?? Not yet ;-)
The following races are still open:
Brakiri, Centauri, Drazi, Gaim, Hyak, Ipsha, Markab, Narn, Vree
and of course you could also create your own race :-)

The game description you have received and slight modifications to it
have been posted at the forum:
http://library.southern.edu/sahforum/index.php?
t=msg&th=1956&start=0&rid=31&S=8e9272dd7d161b973297a1c1073e7383

Reserve your race by contacting (donjon at btl dot net)

Hoping you are having a good season :-)

Hi Again!

And, yet another game ;-) Fall must be the Stars! season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Epoch of Darkness IV (or V? or VI?...can't remember)
The ashes of prior epochs, have again risen from an epoch of darkness
to reach for the stars. Cultures have evolved anew, and against all
odds, multiple extinctions, and after the effective consolidation of
all galactic resources under a past consortium between a hyper-
expansive race and an expert mine layer, a long lived civilization
expanded persisted for hundreds of generations. However, all good
things must come to an end, and so did this civilization. The chaos
that ensued, plunged the galaxy into a pre-technological murk for
millions of years. New species and sentients evolved from the
splintered surviving cultures on far-flung worlds. These cultures had
diverged vastly from their past beginnings. Some still head tenuous
local contact with other members. All these factious groups of
fledgling cultures had one thing in common. They all were struggling
to rise from the epoch of darkness, to reign the galaxy again....

Game format:
Solo or Team Game*
Skill levels: Mixed. Advanced players encouraged to play solo.
Anyone not advanced or better, encouraged to play as a 2-player team.
**More advanced players needed!! :) Number of players: 16 Universe
size: Medium Normal Distant. (May be smaller if fewer than 16
players.)

Considering: Non Accel BBS start.(edit)

Victory: Solo victory or 2-player team victory. Rest of players must
surrender.

Searching for as many advanced players as possible. Host is playing.

PRTs forbidden: CA (edit)

Universe size is up for debate, but aiming for UNDER 20
planets/player on average at start to keep MM down.

*This game will effectively have multiple skill levels. Since few
truly advanced+ players exist anymore, those who have intermediate
may join the game as a team. Those joining as teams are encouraged to
work together to build mutually supporting race designs. Solo players
may not coordinate with any other player before the game.

During the game. Any mix of solo+solo players may work together.
***Only 1 team OR 1 Solo player may win*** If a team member is
destroyed, one player may either win solo, or may join with another
originally teamed player who no longer has a teammate (thus forming a
new team). Solo players or teams may ally with any player or team as
convenience suits them. However, since only one Solo or Team may win,
the best intelligence will be necessary to make sure no one slips
away with too much power.

On universe size. If 16 players join, the universe will be medium
normal.
The universe size may be smaller if fewer players join. Do not send a
race file until you are confirmed in the game.

Email me to reserve a spot in your game. Indicate whether you have a
teammate or are looking for one. Indicate your approximate skill
level and a brief description. DO NOT SEND A RACE FILE YET!! I will
approve players. Game is hosted on Autohost. Will try to find a
willing 3rd party host. Lacking that, I will host. Disputes will be
decided by a vote of players.
Missing a turn will not be grounds for a regen. Game will start after
Sept 7th.

Other messy details....
Cheats allowed: Split fleets (too hard to police) and Chaff (Don't
consider it a cheat.)

All other cheats...if you think it could be seen as a cheat, don't do
it.
If you're caught and it looks like a cheat, game will be placed on
hold, meeting of all advanced players. Host will then fire a
hyperspacial message to #stars! on IRC where he along with other
veteran experts will decide the fate of the player in a closed
military tribunal-esque manner, violating all relevant civil
liberties. If guilty, the turn will be regenned, everyone will have a
chance to replay the turn. The guilty party will be let off the hook
with a single warning. Second violations will result in ejection upon
review of expert panel and vote of players. An appeal may be made. in
this case, the guilty party may be let off with a regen (but s/he
will not be allowed to play the turn). 3rd offense is mandatory
ejection, followed by public mocking, and finally poetry by Vogons.

6 slots filled so far.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I happen to "like" Vogon poetry :-)

donjon

Hi Again!

And, another game for you avid role-players...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Babylon Five (the Stars! version)

This is a simulation of, but not a reiteration of the Science Fiction
Series, Babylon 5; concentrating on the "big picture" of what was
happening in the background behind the series.

Hopefully it could be fun

The Universe Settings:

Universe Size: Large

Density: Normal

NO Beginner Maximum Minerals

Slower Tech Advances

NO Public Player Scores

Galaxy Clumping

Ancient Races(Vorlon and Shadow):

The Ancient Races must be played by players of at least intermediate
skill.

The Ancient Races are One-World Wonders

They have minimum spread in hab settings for all enviromental
settings.

They may colonize other planets if they find them in Phase II and
III, but still only HW defeat counts for victory.

The Vorlon must be Inner Strength.

The Shadow must be Super-Stealth.

Note: The Ancient Races will be aided by zero-cost start to help tech
advancement.

Lesser Races:

Players may be of any skill level.

NO IT (because of gate transport)

NO SS (because of Tech Advances)

All other PRTs are possible

No cheap techs

Possible Races are not limited to this list but may include:
1. Abbai
2. Brakiri Krona
3. Centauri
4. Drakh
5. Drazi Freehold
6. Earth Alliance (taken)
7. Gaim Intelligence
8. Hyak
9. Ipsha
10. Llort Mi-Ma-Ti (taken)
11. Markab
12. Minbari
13. Narn
14. Pak'ma'ra
15. Vree Ventuki Conglomerate

At least ten, preferably twelve lesser races must be in the game for
it to run.

Play Restrictions:

Chaff and Split-Fleet Dodge are allowed, any other published or non-
published cheats are disallowed.

The Orbital device named "Stargate" in any guise does not exist.
- ie. do not build it, the ISN will know as soon as it goes into
orbit and the race which builds it will become immediately inactive
until a suitable penalty can be determined.

However, the "Jumpgate" IS an acceptable device if you can figure out
how to get it.

INACTIVITY
- During the Second Phase, the Ancient races will follow inactive
rules for submission of moves.
1) By default they are "inactive" meaning they may submit one move
every three turns.
2) If they are "attacked" they may become "active" meaning they may
submit turns for five moves.
3) All turn submissions during this time must be done via the
hosts... ie. they DO NOT KNOW THEIR UPLOAD PASSWORDS.

Victory Conditions:

The Shadows win the game if the Vorlon HW is defeated.

The Vorlon win the game if the Shadow HW is defeated.

The Interstellar Alliance wins if the Vorlon and Shadow HWs are
defeated.

For the lesser races:
- If they are allied with Vorlons and the Vorlon win, they win with
Vorlons;
- If they are allied with Shadow and the Shadow win, they win with
Shadows;
- If they are allied with the Interstellar Alliance and the Alliance
wins, they win with the Alliance.
- If a lesser race defeats both the Vorlon and Shadow HWs alone, they
claim a decisive victory.

The Host Races:

The Gate Network
- builds gates for all races requesting gates
- this will be done on a first come first served basis
- the requesting race will have to supply minerals totalling the cost
of the gate constructed in terms of minerals and resources.
- gates will be any/300 and any race will be given information of
connecting gates within range of a gate where they are present.

The Interstellar News Network
- will supply "information" and "misinformation" to all races
- this will be done via whim and blackmail by the ISN.
- what is true and what is false will eventually come out in the wash
as well ;-)

First Phase: (2400-2500):

"Signs and Portents"

Shadow and Vorlons build their economy and increase their research.

Neither race can move population into orbit in this phase.

They can build scouts to know the universe or Remote Miners to get
more minerals.

No colonization or mine fields at this time.

No combat allowed in this phase to any race, including Major ones.
Vorlon and Shadows can build fleets if they want but these must stay
in HW until 2500.

During this phase turns will advance at 5/gen... basically the host
races and ancient races will submit 5 turns worth of orders and then
get to view situation before submitting again.

BALANCE IDEA: At the end of this phase Vorlon OR Shadow
Economic/Research alone should be superior to the sum of
economics/research of all minor races, but equal to each other.
Vorlon and Shadows should also have knowledge about the universe and
some combat fleets they can use next phase... They have only 1 world
(HW).

Second Phase (2500-2550):

"The Coming of the Shadows"

Lesser Races may now submit turns.

Vorlons and Shadows move using inactive rules (defined above.)

Vorlons and Shadows may colonize.

Vorlons and Shadows can attack any races fleets and each others
colonies.

No homeworlds may be attacked.

Diplomacy
- at the end of this phase alliances will be revealed.
- There will be three sets of alliances, The Shadow Servants (max 3
lesser races+Shadows), The Bringers of Light (max 3 lesser
races+Vorlon), The Interstellar Alliance (the remainder of the lesser
races)

BALANCE IDEA: At the end of this phase, the "Vorlon + Shadow"
economics should be equal to the sum of each lesser race, and equal
to each other. Shadow and Vorlon plays a really "tricky and
diplomatic game" choosing which minor race will be "recruited". They
can attack each other, or minor races fleets only. Minor races can
attack each others fleets and colonies. All races survive this phase
as no HW can be attacked.

Third Phase (2550+):

"Point of No Return"

No move restrictions, ancient races are fully mobilized.

Alliances are now published, any hidden alliances are now displayed.

BALANCE IDEA: FULL WAR.
By this time, vorlon and shadows are running against the clock. Their
economies should drop below others as time passes, their permanent
allies will help them a bit, but the Interstellar Alliance is now a
true rival... Open war begins....

Thank you Sergio Silva for your very delicious idea.

If you are interested in playing, it would be wise to "reserve your
race" and then build and submit the race to "donjon at btl dot net".
I envision a start in October.

Hi Everyone!

Well, the summer is over... and we have a new game posted.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Chaotic Spiral

Max Players: 14 (7 teams)
ABBS: On
Random Events: On
PPS: Off
Non-playing host
Ranked: Vote
Skill: any

Standard cheat disclaimer, chaff allowed

Gens: Monday-Friday, 24 hours, till player vote for switch on autohost

Teams will be decided by me, trying to set up as even teams as
possible.
Players will not be notified of their teammates until the game has
started. Game will be a remapped universe (size and density dependant
on number of players) Shaped into a spiral, with 1 team per spiral
arm.

Host will be playing an observer race, along with an IT.
The IT will start at the tip of each spiral arm, and at 2450 gates
will open to the players allow tip-to-tip travel form the closest
arms (if ~800ly between tips then any/800 gates will be used) Host
races must be set to friend by all players.

VC:
For 1 team to control 3/4 worlds in a cluster at the center, for 5
concurrent years. The 4th world being the Observer race. The catch?
Each of the three worlds has a guardian fleet in orbit set to attack
everyone... And the nubian hull is banned for players...

Please include information on how many games you have played, and the
results to help with team pairing.

Carn has done a good job on this ad ;-)
---------------------------------------------------------------
I'm playing a game in a large dense universe, i'm having lot of fun,
there are interesting battles ahead and things went realy well, i
have chances to win.

But there the problem is, i never thought that the others would let
me expand that much, i hoped for 40-60 colonised planets in designing
race and now i have more than double that and numbers might still
grow.

I misjudged the amount of time it would require. Maybe an MM expert
could be better, but i don't manage that in less than 90-120 minutes
and thats only ordering fleets and production queues, it doesn't
count planning and communication in.

And gen time is 24 hours at least for next 45 turns, unless i can
convince rest of players to allow me more time to defeat them.
I don't have that much time.

So i'm realy sad now.

I hope someone with enough time and experience(especially to live
without gates, its tri-i HE race) can take over, because if i quit,
the whole game would crumble and be over with winner nearly certain.
I can keep up for 6-12 turns, but not more.

Is somebody out there willing to take over?

Of course you have to expect micromanagement, macromanagement and
communications. But also skirmishing, fighting, competition and fun.
And you have good chances for winning..

Position is really strong, enough allies are there and, if the other
stong race had not realized the danger, game would already be over.
Now he is preparing big war, but my race is ready to take that.

So if you are MM fan with enough time, want to get right into action
and like to win, contact me. carn112004"yahoo.com (@ instead of ")

So can anybody take up the reigns and prevent the topple of
this "Roman" Empire?

Hi People,

A new team game being posted...

------------------------------------------------------------------
Rings: a Stars! team game for 4 teams of 3 players each
Host Name: Micha
Host e-mail: micha.vandormael@... (replace box with pandora to
mail me)
Version: Registered 2.6 or 2.7 jRC3

Game will be on Autohost.

Turn rate: Tu-W-Th-F-Sa for at least the first 20 turns, and will
change to Tu-Th-Sa upon request of any one team after turn 20.
Turns are generated at 4.00 AM GMT.

Number of Players: 12 (4 teams of 3)
Universe size: Medium
Universe density: Packed
Player Starting Positions: Distant
Skill Level: Advanced

Game options:
___ Beginner: Maximum Minerals
___ Slower Tech Advances
_x_ Accelerated BBS
___ No Random Events
___ Computer Players Form Alliances
___ Public Player Scores
___ Galaxy Clumping

Introduction:
Before the start a third party will remap the planets of the medium
packed universe into 3 rings. All races in one team will be placed
close together, two races of each team will start in the outer ring,
one will start in the middle ring. There will be no discussion or
choices about which race will start in the middle ring, and which
races are in the outer ring. Placement of the races within a team
will be random.

Medium Packed means 540 stars, or IOW 45 per player.

The universe will look something like:
http://users.pandora.be/ert/stars/ringspos.gif
The blue dots are the HW's, the green lines are showing which HW's
belong to one team. This is very rough, the HW positions won't be
exactly like this! This is just to give you an idea. The setup person
is very experienced with this sort of games, and he will do his best
to make sure that all team positions are fair relative to one another.

An universe example can be found here:
http://users.pandora.be/ert/stars/download/rings-ex.zip

The setup person might play a 13th race as an observer. He must be
set to friend and will have all other races set to neutral.

Rules:
- ALL players except your teammates will be set to enemy (neutral
party will check from time to time), battle orders will be set to
attack enemies (unless in special cases like when you want to
infiltrate enemy minefields without sweeping). This is not just a
technicality, they ARE your enemies, please treat them that way.

- The neutral party will keep a list of all passwords, to check on the
player relation settings. Passwords will not change unless you send
the new one(s) to the third party.

- CA is banned.

- No cheats allowed, except for chaff and split fleet dodge (keep it
reasonable). You can find a good (but not complete!) bug list at
http://www.starsfaq.com/bugs.htm or here at the forum in The Academy
(this one is more complete and I suggest your read this one, link:
http://library.southern.edu/sahforum/index.php?
t=tree&th=348&start=0&rid=21&S=7ffa5ee15100bb4bb9506cc94ca65995 )

- One person playing more than one race is not allowed, unless when
teammates are on holiday or when a race is almost dead. Please inform
the host about this.
- Players missing more than 3 turns will be set to inactive (but I
assume teammates will take over when they know their friend will miss
a turn).

- When an entire team drops there will be no search for replacements,
such a search could dramatically slow the game down and trying to
replace an entire team is nearly impossible.

I strongly ask for NO UNREASONABLE drops (reasonable is when you
remain with so few planets that when you leave the game the "gift" to
one of your opponents doesn't hurt the game balance).
If in doubt please contact me (the host) or the third party.

Victory conditions:
The game will be over in 2500.
Each planet will have a point value:
planets in the outer ring=1, middle=2 and center=3.
Due to the different sizes of the rings in practice all the
"whole" rings have about the same value.
The team with the most points wins.

To collect the points for a planet there has to be at least 100.000
pop on the surface and a starbase in orbit (the starbase hull or
above are valid, fort and dock are not).

A team owning the complete center ring ( =pop+base as above for each
planet) at any time in the game will win immediately.

What to do:
To save a slot in the game send me an email with the names and email
addresses of the 3 players of your team (team name preferred but not
required). I'll sent you a reply and in that message I'll include the
neutral party in the CC, then the race files should be sent to the
neutral party (NOT to me!!).

Please apply with a full team, matching up solo players doesn't work
99% of the time, you'll need a team that is used to playing together.

Send your race files WITHOUT password to the neutral party. This
makes it easier for him to do the setup. You can tell him what you
would like as a password and he'll change it once he's done with the
setup and send the files to AutoHost.

The setup of the universe might be a pain because of the remap, it
might take a week (after receiving all race files), depending on the
luck of the third party and his Real Life.

Regards,
mch

Hi People,

---------------------------------------------------------------------
In need of a replacement here: 2nd place position, HUGE (170k+
resources), 2660. Big war going on, has allies. SS race. Not for the
faint-hearted, but could be good for someone wanting to step into
late-game and a very friendly group of players. Beginners only at the
outset, though most of them have learnt since then! Two turns per
week, Tuesdays and Fridays.

Host is not playing, no cheats, no rude/insulting ***holes (ejection
guaranteed), no passwords, no lemon-soaked paper napkins. Email me at
(spike at manacled dot demon dot co dot uk) for the game file and

Thanks much!

Pregame alliances: discouraged
Accelerated BBS, Public Player Scores
Standard cheats disallowed
Chaff, Split Fleet permitted
Victory Conditions: see below

The Mystery Traders are retiring! They've spent eons amassing
tremendous fortunes of minerals from hopeful Stars players and have
decided to buy a nice little galaxy and spend the rest of their days
watching the various surfs roll in from myriad beaches on hundreds of
worlds. They realize, though, that they are leaving behind a niche
market and that it will need to be filled.

To that end, they have selected the likeliest races as potential
successors and have outlined the following rules:

1. Any single race or combination of up to four races can win the
competition
2. Any multi-race team cannot have duplication of PRTs
3. All of the following victory conditions must be met to be declared
the MT successors:
a. Resource production of 1 million or greater
b. Tech level 26 in all categories
c. Possession of at least 6 discrete MT toys (The MT Lifeboat and MT
Scout count as a single discrete toy each, as does the Metamorph hull
for any race/team that does not include an HE)

Please send your passworded race files to me at bigEDog AT prodigy
DOT net. I will keep a list of passwords to facilitate the transfer
of races from players that drop (because there's always at least
one). No player may play more than a single race. Please include your
Autohost handle in the body of your email so I know who you are, and
use the subject line "ITES!" so I don't accidentally delete your
email.

I've asked that there be no pregame alliances. To that effect, I hope
to see a wide variety of PRTs in the game and some great treaty
negotiation among players. If end up with 10 CA races, that means 10
teams (remember, no PRT duplication in a team), so try and show some
imagination.

One new game from the Pirate Lord:
7+ players needed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Doing my public service again, and wish to start a new game for
beginners or those returning to stars! after a long break.
This will be my third in recent games, the other two (Basic
Beginnings and Empires of the Doomed) have/are gone/going well.

Setup is usually:
Medium, Distant, Normal, ABBS
7+ players including host (more below)
Highest score after 100 years (just for scores to be shown)
Version 2.7JRC3
Turns genned manually, flexible schedule at start, then every 24hrs
at 9PM GMT, later moving to 48hrs when required.

I will be playing a race that just watches. This race is a OWW so
impact will be minor. Everyone will be set to Neutral, but it's easy
to become my friend, and I will assist those in dire need (tech,
minerals, military support, etc, etc), and will also tech trade, etc,
etc. I will attack back if attacked, so it's not really worth the
hassle.

Contact me if interested to book a place. No race design limits. All
the usual cheat bans apply. This game will use chaff.

Change the written number to it's numeric, and make the obvious
changes. Please include the "Lost Souls" in the subject of all emails.

We need one intermediate CA player to replace a player in the
game "Twelve Gates."

The player has a decent score, in second place, as of last year. The
game is in the year 2630, which since the game started in 2612, is
still in the early colonization phase.

This game is slightly different, with each player starting in a small
cluster of (30) stars, with one host owned gateworld. The gates have
been open for a few years. Unfortunately, or fortunately, one of the
other players has discovered the gateworld leading to this cluster.

If you are interested in picking up this game, please contact

OK, here we go again:
This game has six players so far, and I would like 12.
---------------------------------------------
One new game hosted by yours truly...
In the election fervor....

New Game: President

This is a tongue in cheek parody of the democratic political system.

Game summary: The large sparse (1500 ly per side) map is one globular
cluster consisting of 384 stars, roughly 40 ly distant.

* In the center of the cluster is one world which will be identified
as the "Presidential Seat." Distance value:10.

* In the center of the cluster is a circle, 75 ly radius, excluding
the "Presidential Seat" which will be identified as the "Senate Band."
Distance value:9.

* Surrounding the "Senate Band" is another band, with a width of 50 ly
which will be identified as the "House Band." Distance value:8.

* Surrounding the "House Band" are 7 common bands, with widths of 85
ly extending to the edge of the cluster. Distance values:7-1.

Each homeworld is placed in the 1 band at the edge of the cluster.

Refer to http://www.shc.edu.bz/les/stars/pres/PRES.gif for a visual
representation. (homeworlds are indicated by small red circle at the
edges)
Note: I did not spend a lot of time looking for a seed for a demo
setup (therefore, there are four (actually six) homeworlds which are

since all secondary player planets will need to be vacated.

The Goal Planets:
There are three types of goal planets:

* "The House" each position holds a vote value of 4.

* "The Senate" each position holds a vote value of 8.

* "The President" the single position holds a vote value of 16.

Definitions:
Validly Occupied: A planet is considered validly occupied when it
acquires a starbase of at least the "Space Station" hull.

Adjacent:
All Senate positions are adjacent all other Senate positions, and
House positions, and the President position. Likewise for the House,
and President.

When moving from one band to the next: The adjacent planet is the
planet closest in the next band, unless there is a closer planet, in
the general direction within the present band.

Vote:
All players will have a vote when a vote is called for, which is
broken into two parts:

1) VC Planet seats (the total of all VC Planet points)

2) Penetration: the maximum route which can be traced for a players
validly occupied, adjacent planets through the bands, (Max band-Min
band).

Play:
The object of the game is to become president. However, in order to do
so, you must trigger a vote(by validly occupying the Presidential
seat.) Each race(party) votes only for itself. The presidential race
must have a vote which outweighs all other races in total. If so, the
presidential race has won. If not, then concessions (bribes) must be
paid and the state is in an "Overthrow" condition.

The referee will determine the concession using the following rules:

Establishing Concession:

* There is a 50% chance there is no concession.
* otherwise...
   + Determining Donor/Recipient:
     - The party occupying the Presidential seat is always involved.
     - The party with the next highest vote value is always involved.
(if there are two or more parties which have the same
vote value, the referee will randomly determine which is
       involved.)
     - There is a 2/3 chance that the party with Presidential seat
       will be the donor.

   + Establishing Gift:
     - There is a 50% chance that the gift will be minerals.
     - There is a 1/3 chance that the gift will be ships.
     - Otherwise, the gift will be a planet.

The donor/recipient and gift type will be announced to the involved
players (This is secret) and will have to be fulfilled as soon as is
possible. (The referee will act as an intermediary if needed.)
Gift Definitions:

* Minerals, the referee will randomly determine the mineral type, the
amount will be 10% of the total production of the race for the year.
The mineral will be delivered either using the referee as an
intermediary, or via packet (note: packeting of unprotected worlds is
NOT considered a gift)

* Ships, the referee will examine the designs in the donor inventory,
all rated ships will be considered, however highest rated ships will
have the highest weight. The referee will determine the number of
ships which will comprise the gift. (the donor will have to devote 1
years production to satisfy the demand)

* Planets, the referee will examine the owned planets of the donor,
and then choose all planets which fall within the receiver's sphere of
influence. Planets with no starbase will be given higher weight, VC
planets (President, Senate, House) will have lower weight)

Play will continue until the President has a majority vote, at which
time he wins.

Do you want to join the party?

Present Contenders:
The Commies
The Fundamentalists
The Alliance
The Federalists
The Yabloko
We The People

We could go with six players... I would need to change the universe
size to medium sparse, but I'd really like more players...

* In the center of the cluster is a circle, 75 ly radius, excluding
the "Presidential Seat" which will be identified as the "Senate
Band." Distance value:9.

* Surrounding the "Senate Band" is another band, with a width of 50
ly which will be identified as the "House Band." Distance value:8.

* Surrounding the "House Band" are 7 common bands, with widths of 85
ly extending to the edge of the cluster. Distance values:7-1.

Each homeworld is placed in the 1 band at the edge of the cluster.

Refer to http://www.shc.edu.bz/les/stars/pres/PRES.gif for a visual
representation. (homeworlds are indicated by small red circle at the
edges)
Note: I did not spend a lot of time looking for a seed for a demo
setup (therefore, there are four (actually six) homeworlds which are
too close.
