Here's the info:
I need 2 replacement players for a game. There are 6 total players,
including myself. The two players are a single team in a three team
game.
Game Name: Huge Universe
Universe Size: Large
Current Year: 2415
Using version: JRC3
The rules are simple, don't do anything that would be considered
cheating. See Stars! FAQ for more details. Basically no odd cheats,
no chaff, and no splt fleet dodge. The Victory conditions are last
team standing. I forget some of the other options, but PPS is on,
but not yet available.
Turns have been generated 3 times a week except when users couldn't
make it. You'll need to get the passwords from the original users,
since I am the host. You will be given their email addresses to
obtain this info.
We plan to start again by the end of December, and one of the players
may not get back to you quickly, so sign up now!
regards,
donjon
Hi People,

Replacement needed for "The List"
I'm going to be taking a trip to India for a month, leaving 30th December
and back in the first week of February. Thus I will need someone to fill in
for me. The job involves reading the NG on a daily basis and forwarding any
new game or replacement announcements to "The List".

Game Name: Mineral Crunch
Contact: Antti-Ville Tuunainen <AVTuunainen@...>
Experience Level: intermediate
After reading the willy wonka post, and playing a little with mineless
reace designs, I got an idea for a really twisted game:
All races have to set their mine settings to worst possible (5/15/5)
AND pick OBRM. Ar is banned, all others are ok.
players: 8-12
player skill level is intermediate, but newbies wanting to try it out
are accepted.
galaxy: medium, dense
accelerated bbs start
random events are off, because alien miner would be too good.
Victory conditions:
When people feel it should be over, for example when a player or an
alliance with maximum of 2 players have gained a clear dominance over
the others.
In-game vc is set to the player with most score after 100 years, so
the scores will be visible after 2500.
Chaff is allowed, abusing split fleet dodge on attack is disallowed,
all other cheats are banned.
Races will be checked by a third party, I'll pick someone trustworthy
from #stars! or here, game will be generated by Ron using a .def file.
In the meantime send your application to

*New Game - Repost*
Game Name: Static Flux
Contact: Xdude <fish@...>
Race Files to godzilla@... (unpassworded)
Experience Level: ANY players may apply
[Update: need 5-6 more players]
Lotsa rules and special things....read closely please...
Guys,
It's been awhile since I ran a serious monster sized game so I thought I
would destroy any chance at having a real life for the next few months.
Here's the synopsis:
Game Name : Static Flux
1. Two teams of 8 players (Or however many I can get/2)
2. Galaxy will be huge/packed remapped to this image:
www.ethersoft.net/flux.gif
2a No Max Mins, PPS On, Random Events On.
2b AFON start will be used. Players start in orbit of a planet with 40 Large
Freighters, 40 Privateers with Colo Pods, and 10 SFX. Cargo holds are filled
with Pop and G at about a 70/30 mix.
2c AFON start also gives all players at or around tech 8 in all catagories.
2d Due to AFON start, AR race is not allowed.
3. Players on Team 1 must set players on Team 2 to enemy and vice-versa.
4. Team 1 will be at bottom of image, Team 2 on top.
5. Ships must always be within 100 light years of a planet - meaning vast
empty space is off limits.
6. Violation of #5 will be flogging, beating, maiming, or both.
7. In other words, fight your way up or down.
8. Gating does NOT count for movement, so gate like crazy.
9. VC - Make the other team quit.
10. Depending on player input, 2-3 planets in the center of the vertical
chains MAY be stocked with an absurd amount of minerals. This will add to
the general "race to the center" paranoia which is so much fun. These
planets WILL be made public if this does happen. Absurb is defined as
500,000kt to 1,000,000
11. Host will be playing on one team. Players will be assigned to teams by a
neutral 3rd party, Kurt Over (Overworked) from Homeworld Forums. Hab and PRT
will be taken into consideration when Kurt assigns players to a team, so as
to not over unbalance a team. Ex - 8 ITs vs 8 HEs or something silly like
that.
12. I will be playing as well and setting the game up. The only access I
will have to players race files will be name and constructing ships, loading
them with cargo and pop.
13. An unpassworded race file is needed to set the game up. A few hints on
race design....LSP is a must, and I highly recommend IFE as well, and if you
are a long term survuvalist, MA could prove useful.
14. Probably most importantly, this game will last while. Be in it for the
long haul. And with that goes the ability to work with your teammates
closely to coordinate attacks.
15. Players will probably not know what team they are on until the game
starts so I cannot guarentee you being on the same team as your buddies, but
sometimes, that is a good thing...
16. Game will be on autohost, 3 turns a week, M-W-F or as needed due to real
life issues, holidays, wars, and other assorted BS that life seems to throw
at us.
17. A common team password will be set for each team to facilitate
information sharing about planet habs, tech sharing, and enemy fleets.
18. There is no 18. Sorry for so many things to tell, but I hope this covers
any questions that may arise.

*New Game*
Game Name: Twelve Gates
Contact: Donjon <donjon1@...>
Experience Level: intermediate and above
Present enrollment: 5 players ... max 12
Game summary: The huge (3000 ly per side) map has 12 sectors. Each
sector is roughly 200 ly in diameter. Each race will start in a single
sector.
Also, in each sector is one world held by the Traveller's Guild (this
location is NOT revealed to the players and must be discovered.) The
Guild, has all players set to friend and allows use of their stargates
to afford inter-sector travel (each sector has rougly 900 ly
separating them.)
Discovering destinations is described in the Guild description section
below.
The object of the game is to have uncontested battlefleets at all 12
Guild planets... On the turn this occurs. Victory is declared.
The Guild (the host race)
Is an ancient race inhabiting this quarter of the galaxy, they wish to
go beyond the rim, but wish a worthy race to take their place and not
leave the galaxy in chaos.
They provide:
1. Use of their gates to all races; however, gate travel will open at
a random time after 10 years of game play.
2. Excess minerals at a Guild planet will be uploaded to an
uncontested race having freighters/galleons present at the Guild
planet. This will occur only on the turn in which the excess is
detected, otherwise the Guild claims all excess minerals at the
planet.
3. They will afford shipments of minerals to specific destinations for
all races.
4. They will build large freighters for a race, equipped with the MT
Jump Gate Technology, these freighters will never exceed the races
technology level, with the exception of the Jump Gate itself, and will
not use race-specific items. The cost for these items is the (mineral
cost+resource cost+200) of the ship in minerals solely.
5. All sales of ships are public, unless the buying race wishes to
double the price, in which case the sale will be private.
The Setup:
There will be a lag time in the setup of this game, it will take at
least a few years for the host to ensure he has Jumpgate technology(he
will regen if he doesn't get it). During this time, you races will be
placed in "stasis" accumulating nothing, all races will have pop and
mins recorded on year 2400, this value will be restored upon
commencement of the game, with the possible exception of dual-planet
start races (PP) the starbases will be preserved, I will attempt to
ensure that the secondary planets do have starbases, but will not make
it a priority for commencement.
Other general info is listed below
REGISTERED Version JRC4; Players will use JRC3.
Turn generation: turns 1-20 every 24hrs, turns 21-80 3 times a week,
turn 81 and beyond - player vote.
Turns generated through Autohost
Universe size & density: large sparse. (roughly 30 stars per sector)
remapped onto a huge(7) universe.
PRT Restrictions: No SS, No IT.
Movement Restrictions: Inter-sector travel, and stargate travel is
permitted, however, with 800 light-years between sectors stargate
travel using your own stargates will likely be costly.
Skill level: intermediate and above
Player positions one per sector.
Accelerated bbs play.
Chaff & split fleet dodge allowed
No Public Player Scores
Random Events: Yes
Victory Conditions:
The object of the game is to have uncontested battlefleets at all 12
Guild planets... On the turn this occurs. Victory is declared.
"Uncontested" means any ship with a rating at a Guild planet, with no
other race having a ship with a rating at the same Guild planet.
Alliance victory: according to the victory conditions stipulated, it
is not possible for an alliance to win. However, you may have
alliances within the game
email me at: donjon at btl dot net
BTW: Submit password protected races, but supply the password (I will
need them for universe generation, and also in case someone drops
out).

*New Game*
Game Name: Willy Wonka's Mineral Factory
Contact: LEit <deadmail@...>
Unpassworded Race Files To: 62ui8pt02@...
Experience Level: intermediate
Willy Wonka's Mineral Factory (Wonka)
Willy Wonka has almost perfected the factory and can give out
limitless supplies of chocolate. Unfortunately it doesn't taste very
good, but it does have uses in industry.
This game is inspired by XDude's Center Warz game that ran a year or
two ago. Also a lot of the standard part of this ad is copied from an
ad by overworked.
A host run AR/IT team (up to 2 AR and 2 IT) will provide limitless
minerals to all player races.
This will probably be a long game with lots of big battles; please
don't join if you are not willing to complete the game. I expect it
will start fast too, with fewer points needed in the RW for mines, and
fewer resources spent on mines, expect races to be ready to fight very
quickly.
All PRTs are eligible. CA's may not select TT; also the host will
publish a list of CA homeworlds at the start of the game. Host races
will not research for tech, so SS will get less from spying then they
normally would, and mineral stealing is probably not something that
you'll need to do. PP could be nasty >:)
JRC3/JRC4 on Autohost (after setup)
Non-competitive host
Standard cheat disclaimer. Chaff allowed, split fleet is allowed for
escape and skirmishing, please don't use it to divert defensive fleets
while attacking (please be reasonable). All other cheats/abuses are
not allowed. See the Stars! FAQ (http://www.starsfaq.com) for a sample
list, or check the AH forum. Cheats not listed are still not allowed;
ask the host if you are unsure about a tactic.
I prefer intermediate skill level players.
Generation Schedule: 5 turns a week Tue-Sat 3AM GMT (M-F 10PM US EST)
for the first 50 turns, then 3 turns a week (MWF), subject to change
during the game.
# of players: up to 10. Plus 2 or 4 host run races, depending on the
number of players.
The host run races are to be set to 'friend' by all players. They will
occupy their home worlds, plus additional worlds to set up a gate
network, probably less then 20 worlds total.
Galaxy:
Large,
Normal density,
Distant starting positions,
ACC BBS start,
Public scores *off*
Un-passworded race files to following address:
62ui8pt02@...
Please include your password with the file. I will set up the game,
and change your password as indicated. Race files I cannot open
without a password will not be accepted. You can also indicate how
you'd like me to run your race for the first few turns. If no
indication is given, then I'll set the queue to factories then con
research to con 3, prop 2, and then I'll figure out something to do.
The exact setup sequence is not yet complete, but I'll be using the
'0-cost' start, as well as getting help from Capt Maim. I expect to
have the game handed to AH by 2405 if not sooner. And mineral
shipments will start at 2403, I will make sure all HWs get at least
one shipment before the game starts.
Please also indicate your experience level.
If interested, send a race file in. I will not reserve slots in a game
based upon a message indicating interest.
Victory Condition:
Solo win only, by unanimous vote. Victor may thank allies if they want
to.
Alliances, tech trading, etc. allowed, but only *one* race will be
declared the winner.
Player indicates in an ingame message to everyone that they are
claiming victory. If anyone indicates to the host within the next 3
turns that they disagree, then the host will post a message to that
effect without telling who indicated it. You may make your indication
public if you so desire. You may nominate some one else for victory.
Neither the nominee nor the nominator (if different) may disagree with
the vote.
Mineral distribution rules:
Each race will get the output from 100 mining fleets per turn, that's
120000 of each mineral. This will not come every turn, but on a
regular schedule every 4 to 10 turns, depending on the distance to the
nearest IT world.
The game will start with 100 'owned drops' going to each races HW (or
a 75/25 split for IT and PP). Each drop is 1200 of each mineral every
turn (well 4800 to 12000 every 4 to 10 turns). Each turn you may shift
up to 5 of the 'drops' from one world you inhabit to another world
that you inhabit. There is a max of 25 'drops' for any one world, with
the exception of the Homeworld. Send an ingame message to the IT
assigned to you, and they will make the adjustment.
If you capture a world that has drops going to it, you may shift 1 of
the 'captured drops' each turn up to 200 ly away from the current
drop. You cannot shift the last 'captured drop' away from a world. You
can shift them to worlds with drops already, and then shift them off
the new world to somewhere else. A recaptured drop is considered
'owned' and can be moved as normal, it doesn't matter how many people
have had it as 'captured'.
If a race is exterminated, then 'captured drops' (and unclaimed ones)
become 'owned' by whoever inhabits the world they are going to and can
be moved like any normal 'owned drop'. If drops are going to
uninhabited worlds, then they get 'captured' by the next player to
inhabit the world. If the current owner is eliminated at that point,
then they become 'owned' drops.

Its a rough fight but a high beginner/low intermediate player has a
decent chance of winning out. Most important is to be able to spend
more time on turns than I'm able to these days!
Update:
The replacement player I had lined up backed out. Somebody help! :/
This position IS rather MM intensive. Still open. *sigh*

Skill Level: Advanced (Team Game)
Hi,
I'm looking for a permanent replacement in the Penta team game that I'm
hosting. One of the 5 teams has only one player left to play all 3 races
which is too much for him.
Ideally I'm looking to replace the entire team with a new team of players,
but I'm willing to pair up solo players, possibly with the remaining player
but that's not sure ...
See below for the original game ad.
In short the goal of the game is to conquer and own the most target planets
in 2500, there are 6 such planets, 1 in each corner of the pentagram and one
in the middle, if there is a tie than there is a 10 year extension. No
alliances among teams.
Game year is 2477, nubs just appeared. One team is already dead.
PRT's are CA, IS (first in resources) and AR (the only AR in the game!). The
team missed their last turn.
Game is on AutoHost, two turns per week. Host (me) is playing.
If you want more details send me an email: micha.vandormael@... (replace
box with pandora).
I don't really know how good/bad their situation is and if they still have a
chance to win the game ... the remaining player says with good control there
is a 50% chance of winning ... Level of play requires intermediate/expert.
regards,
mch

_x_ Accelerated BBS

___ Public Player Scores
___ Galaxy Clumping
Introduction: We will start with a large normal universe, a neutral thrid
party will remap the planets into the shape of a pentagon, with a hollowed
pentagon inside, and a small grouping of planets in the very center. All the
players in a team will start near each other, grouped around the outer
corners.
The universe will look something like:
http://users.pandora.be/ert/stars/penta3.gif
This is a _very_ rough idea, the HW positions won't be exactly like this!
Just to give you an idea. The setup person is very experienced with this
sort of games, and will do his best to make sure that all team positions are
fair relative to one another.
Due to the remap the density will be more dense than the advertised normal!
The setup person might play a 16th race as an observer.
Rules:
- ALL players except your teammates will be set to enemy (neutral party will
check from time to time), battle orders will be set to attack enemies
(unless in special cases when you want to infiltrate enemy minefields without
sweeping).
- PP and IT are banned (primarily for setup reasons).
- No bug/feature listed in the NG FAQ is allowed, except for chaff and fleet
dodge (if you can get it to work). You can find a good (but not complete!)
bug list at http://www.starsfaq.com/bugs.htm
- Passwords will not change unless you send the new one(s) to the third
party, this to find replacements should a team suddenly disappear.
- One person playing more than one race is not allowed, unless when
teammates are on holidays or when a race is close to death.
Victory conditions:
There will be five Target planets, one at each outer corner of the pentagon,
and one Target planet in the center (six in total). The winner of the game
is the team that owns the most target planets at the year 2500. If there is
a tie, then the game will be extended in 10 year sections until the tie is
broken. If at any time one team owns 4 or more of the target planets, then
that team is declared the winner immediately.
To own a Target planet, it must be colonized and have population there.
PLEASE PASSWORD YOUR RACEFILES! The host will be playing and since the game
will be on AutoHost everyone will have access to your turn-files!
Please apply with a full team, matching up solo players doesn't work for 99%
of the time, you'll need a team that is used to playing together.
To save a slot in the game: send me an email with the names and email
addresses of the 3 players of your team. Race files are expected within a
week, they will be send to me, I will forward them to the neutral party and
include you in the mail, when you receive that mail you send your password
to the neutral party (but NOT to me of course!!).
The setup of the universe might be a pain because of the remap, so it might
take a week, depending on the luck of the neutral party and his Real Life.

We've got a game of Tic Tac Toe for you
******************************
Game Name: Tic Tac Toe
Contact: Donjon <les@...>
Skill level: intermediate and above
Game summary: The map is divided into 9 clusters (3x3). To capture a
cluster you must hold the planet which is closest to the center of the
cluster. Note, the host will define the central planets at the
commencement of the game. There will only be 9 players, each player
will be assigned a "cluster" in the beginning.
To win the game capture 3 clusters in a row. A victory condition check
will be made once every ten years (this gives the possibility for more
than one race to achieve the victory conditions)
Other general info is listed below
REGISTERED Version JRC4; Players will use JRC3.
Turn generation: turns 1-20 every 24hrs, turns 21-80 every 48hrs, turn
81 and beyond - player vote for 48hrs or 72hrs.
Turns generated through Autohost
Universe size & density: medium sparse. (roughly 24 stars per cluster)
Skill level: intermediate and above
Player positions one per cluster.
Accelerated bbs play.
Chaff & split fleet dodge allowed
No Public Player Scores
Random Events: Yes
Victory Conditions:
As stated above the map will be divided into 9 equal clusters (3x3).
To capture a cluster a player must have a star base (any type) in
orbit at the planet that is closest to the center of the cluster.
Capture three clusters in a row (any direction) to win the game. To
allow for the possibility of more than one player winning the victory
condition check will take place once every 10 years. If, in a year
ending with a zero, a player holds three clusters in a row he/she can
declare victory (verified by providing his turn file (and password) to
the other players). Theoretically up to three players could declare
victory at the same time.
email me at: donjon at btl dot net
BTW: Host will not be playing... submit password protected races, but
supply the password (I will need them for universe generation, and
also in case someone drops out).
Present Enrollment: 2 players ... 9 needed.
Some files: so you get an idea of what I plan to do...
The counts are slightly off in the clusters, but you will get the
basic idea...

History tells us that, millennia ago, the rulers and scientific wizards of
the old empire in their great moment of hubris had created four monuments to
the power of their civilization and utter domination over the million worlds
and countless trillions of beings in the galaxy. These four monuments, the
Fulcrum worlds, the size of solar systems, at the center of the galaxy
supposedly were instruments with the purpose of enabling the transcendence
to godhood should they be activated at once.
This was not to be. A titanic war of galactic proportions ensued as the
vying factions strove to further their own agendas. Countless centuries of
war ensued of catastrophic proportions. The Empire faded from existence
into a myriad of warring clans, republics, and states. Eventually they
dwindled to a few lone systems. Entire spiral arms were annihilated, and
flung from the galaxy. The remnants of the empire dispersed and fell into
anarchy, and the physical constituency of the galaxy torn asunder…
For most of the last, nearly two and a half thousand years, the worlds of
the galaxy have lived in an uneasy state of peace as a number of worlds have
found their way back into space and have taken their first fledgling steps
into the stars. Each race knew the distant, but bloody history of the
galaxy. Each fledgling civilization knew what still lie at the center of
their cluster of the galaxy. Eight disputing alliances of two came together
in a great council to decide the future of their civilizations. The Council
made a pact not to venture beyond their home systems to protect the future
life of the galaxy and never to venture forth toward the Fulcrum worlds at
the center of the galaxy.
It is year 2400 since the establishment of the Pact, and it is about to be
broken. The allure of godhood has become too great and one race will
venture forth into space, threatening to end 2400 years of peace and
prosperity. The political state is one of paranoia, and political relations
between the 16 surviving races of the galaxy have ossified into 8 alliances.
Each of those is ready to expand out into space and reclaim it as theirs,
and to head forth toward the Fulcrum worlds to seek glory, power, and
knowledge. Each knows that the in the center of the galaxy lies the fulcrum
of power, and only the strongest and most capable can tip the scale to their
favor...
Special Victory Conditions:
Alliance of 2 races must occupy 4 Fulcrum worlds with a starbase of 10,000+
rating for 5 consecutive years to claim victory.
Game will be generated and worlds chosen by 3rd party host. Worlds will
have vastly divergent habitation variables. Game will be generated such
that all races are placed roughly equidistant from one another and from the
center of the universe.
Game will have 3rd party host.

Greetings Comrades,
I need a permanent replacement player for a game I am hosting. The race
is IT, possibly in 4th position, the year is 2493, and the game is
currently running on AH. Parameters: medium, packed galaxy, distant
player positions, no random events, ABBS, no PPS, running on the jRC3
version of Stars! There are eight players in the game including
myself. Turns are down to twice a week at best but I'm very flexible
with granting delays if real life gets in the way of a player's ability
to turn in.
The race you will be taking over is in an alliance with another IT and
is friendly with an adjacent PP race. At least I think they are
friendly. The PP race might in fact be a slave of the two allied ITs.
I'm not sure. The allied ITs are at war with an AR and his loose
alliance (a SD, a JOAT, and a SS race). The IT alliance has been making
progress on the AR's territory and they have suffered no major loses in
colonies. This may not last however as one of them recently lost a
major encounter with the AR's battlefleet. The AR's allies have played
an important role so far, especially in ensuring the recent battle
victory but that contribution was relatively small in terms of numbers
of ships.
I'd like to get an experienced serious player (no novices please) as it
might require some detailed Stars! skills and knowledge to handle the
position. Diplomacy and communication skills are critical in
interacting with your ally and your minion (and perhaps the others if
you are good at it).
It is late in the game and it will be a challenge. If you think you're
up to that challenge, and seriously prepare to put in the effort, please
send me a message. Lets talk.
Casper

having a couple players joining after the first week. They didn't.
The game is set in a large universe. There are 13 races playing.
Most are of beginner or intermediate skill level. Winner is last race
or alliance standing.
We are on turn 2427. It's still pretty early, so these races aren't
completely screwed.
We'd prefer someone of beginner or intermediate skill level, as a lot
of these players have not had much experience.
Email me for more info or to sign up.
Thanks.

Universe: Small

The remnants of the empire dispersed and fell into
anarchy, and the physical constituency of the galaxy torn asunder.
If you wish to join this game, email geichler@...
Once 16 players are recruited, I will contact the host, race files will be
due, and game will be created.

The long term plan? Eight "new" players will get a chance
to face eight of the "Defending Grand Champions". But that
game doesn't start for about 200 days. Here's what it will
take to get there.
This will be the 8th game that I've started on Autohost
recently. It will be the first of 2 new "open" games, with
the second starting in about 100 days. The "top 4" players
from each open game will be invited to play in the
"Championship-III" match, starting in about 200 days.
You'll find all the details on my "New Game Info" web page:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/starsbase/newgame.htm
I've also added a status box for this game near the top of
my "Home Base" page:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/starsbase
I'll try to keep this updated daily until the game starts,
but it may be up to 24 hours old. Don't depend on the
displayed number of available seats. Just e-mail me that
race file already!
There are currently 9 seats open.

A dedicated player with lots of time on there hands, so far this game has
claimed Verker, Myself and now Iztok through the problem of overwork and
lack of time :-) - Its an interesting game and quite challenging (I used to
be Iztoks main SD enemy)
Note on VML1.1a - this is a modded version of stars, created by Verker, this
means the values of some of the components and ship hulls have been changed
to alter the balances. The changes in 1.1a are not drastic, but do make the
game more interesting. To play VML 1.1a you just need a copy of the binary
(ask either Istok or myself to send you a copy if you don't already have it)
and its run much in the same was as if you had a second patch version for stars.

Permanent Replacement Needed - Transwarp 3 (VML1.1a - Modded Stars Version)
Hi!
I just got some changes in my job requirements, so I lost quite a lot
of my free time and am not able to play this game properly. My race is
HP IS, firmly in first position, with good allies and friends, and
some fierce enemies (an advanced SD the main). It's year 2504, AMP
Nubs in groups of several dozens are common, and to finish the turn it
takes about 2-3 hours.
If you are at least high intermediate and interested to play in modded
Stars! game, please email me for further details.
BR, Iztok

Reversing the concept of RWIAB...

'Reasonable' fleet splitting is permitted, 'abuse' of fleet splitting
is banned.
-- Use of fleet splitting to try to get attacking fleets past
defending fleets is abuse.
---- An ATTACKING fleet may only be split in order to attack multiple

---- A fleet may be split as many times as you like IF the ENTIRE

I will generate 3 turns at a time for the first two weeks.
If Ron has space, the game will be hosted on autohost. Otherwise I
will host the game using 2.7J RC4.

I'm ideally looking for 6-8 players. If we have more or less players I
will adjust the galaxy settings to suit.
I can see the nightmare scenarios of playing in a game I am hosting,
so I will ONLY be hosting and NOT playing
