I am glad you asked this question.
As I have stated before, I am new to the game. I am hoping for players that
have the patients to work through the rules and are willing to explore the
potential complications of PBEM.
I thought that the first phase would be to have at least 3 players and 1 GC (me,
but want some help with the rules). We have two already!
The second phase would be to decide if we want to try the mission I have created
or select one from the Living SpyCraft series that everyone has not played
before.
The third phase would be to have the players submit a character sheet. The
player characters would be created from scratch or perhaps we could use the
level 3 characters found on the CraftGames site.
The fourth phase would be to conduct the intelligence phase and field any
opening questions about the mission. The itell phase would be a descriptive
e-mial with the mission background, objectives, risks/rewards, intelligence,
maps, data, etc..
The fifth phase would be for the player characters to communicate within the
team by e-mail to decide strategies and their first moves. The description of
the moves would be submitted and GC and players would communicate to clarify any
open points.
The sixth phase would be for GC to execute the moves and provide the team a
descriptive result of the moves.
Then we would continue to revolve around phase 5 and phase 6.
Next comes the question of combat. Combat tends to be more technical, precise
and could bog down our PBEM game. I think we would need to create maps (GC) and
have the players communicate and co-ordinate their moves. Marking their
activities on a map and give scenarios for the combat. So, for example, the
three agents approach an outpost in the Iranian desert. Two guards are
patrolling a fence line. The players would communicate by e-mail and decide
their tactics for the combat initiation. They would draw on a map how they are
going to approach by stealth from the east and flank the two guards. They would
give GC scenarios (limits would apply); 1) if undetected ambush from behind and
kill the guards with knives, 2) if detected and guards attempt to raise an alarm
then using silenced weapons engage and kill the guards. GC would simulate the
initiation of the attack. GC would then stop the simulation and provide an
update to the combat. For example, GC reports that the guards were alerted
during the ambush and began to open fire. Agents have returned fire and wounded
one guard. Agents are pressing their advantage and the remaining guard has
taken cover. GC would then provide an update to a map/diagram and ask the
player to for another tactical round. I am thinking for simple combat we could
resolve in two or three rounds as long as players are willing to turn over some
control the GC for the attack simulation.
Let me know what you think. But, my opinion is to give it a try and we can be
open and have fun getting good at PBEM.

could help withwhat I can. I've only played a few games of spycraft, but every
game Ihave played I enjoyed greatly. The rule aren't really that
complicatedeither. Its just a better D20 system, it has the basics and adds
moreand better elements to the skills mainly. I have pretty much all thebooks
for 2.0 on PDF and have all the original books on hardcopy.---In

It is based on theRussian/Iranian weapons trade of SAM's. The mission is for the
agentsto confirm the sale of SAM's to Iran. The first scene is for the teamof
agents (3 or 4) posing as a film crew in Iran to make contact withan agent that

was saidbefore though and combat can drag. I like having the GM make all
therolls and you just tell him what you want to do. If you have adedicated group
you can get most combat done within a day of realtime. But if someone plans on
running one I'd be down for playing > >> > > >
