See the forums at http://www.speedsolving.com/
I am 40 seconds average, but I've heard answers to your question many times. In
addition to "practice, practice, practice", they suggest using a metronome (use
Google to find one online) to force yourself to go smoothly and carefully with
your hands while your eyes and mind plan ahead for the next pieces. They also
suggest training yourself to do the entire cross stage with your eyes closed. It
may take a few minutes at first, but some cubers can plan the entire cross well
within the 15 second inspection time, then whip through it without looking just
after they start the timer.

Hey, this group is pretty dead right now, but i would suggest joining
speedsolving.com forums if you haven't already because there is a great group of
speedcubers there. And a wealth of cubing knowledge also.

I'm sorry to say that this message board has been dead for a while but if you
still would like to talk on line with other cubers I would suggest the forums on
speedsolving.com,oh and as for the 3x3s try a "F2" or an "alpha 5".

Hello fellow cube fans!

I have posted a series of instructional videos at YouTube about how to solve
very large cubes (I used a 19x19x19, but the ideas would apply to even cubes
too) very rapidly. I'm using the Gabbasoft software.

My best solve of a 19x19x19 is under 1 hour:53 minutes. The solve shown is
around 2:20. I need a faster computer, and the screen grab software slows things
down a lot. No excuses, I think 2:20 is a pretty decent time. :-)

The series starts with this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ediiiaBedd8&feature=related
If that link doesn't work, just search for "Solving Large Cubes Quickly" on
Youtube.

Please enjoy and comment if you have even faster methods.

I'm playing around with the super cube version (with the arrows), and have
gotten a little bit stuck on fixing the last face. I end up with this shape in
the middle (even cube).

______________
| <-  |  ->  |
| | |
______________
| | | | |
| V | V |
______________

Anyone have a move to fix this?

Also, I have seen pictures like this one:
http://www.speedcubing.com/chris/images/20cubestart.gif
around the internet, but I can't find that program. Does someone have a pointer
to that program?

Thanks!!

Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone knew of where I could buy a set of supercube stickers
for a 7x7 VCube. I contacted Chris from Cubesmith a while ago but he told me he
wasn't making supercube stickers anymore. Does anyone know if this has changed
or does anyone know of another place where I could get a set of supercube
stickers? I just love my old model 5x5 supercube and would love to have a 7x7
in the supercube format.

All the best,

Hello, dyllanusher,

Bare Necessities:
1) You need a good speedcubing cube. Store boughts are ok until they become a
piece of junk. Not the best way to invest money. I suggest www.cube4you.com, or
some other place
2) You need a method. Iprefer and suggest Frindrich but whatever floats your
boat. Go to www.cubefreak.net . There's stuff there.
3)Dedication
4)Practice
5)There is no number 5
6)Number 5 is the most important
7)Fingertricks come after you've gotten the basics down. And you discover a lot
of tricks yourself throughout your journey with the cube.

for more help, go to www.speedsolving.com .There's not many people still here
on this email thread, but the forum is much alive and active.

Happy cubing!

None of which got a competition named after them.

Hmm. What is the connection between Mao and Peru. Are they Maoists there?
:-P

PS! I'm not a legend. Just a long standing fan. Ok, maybe sorta pioneer of
fewest moves. Veterans can still hold the force there for a while yet. The
15 yr olds dont find it spectacular or fast enough. And nowhere to look up
algs algs and fingertricks for speed. And s good good wont help you much :)

Per

Stefan, just admit it. You and Tyson are legends. And Ron ... etc ...

I made a trip to Peru in order to help start the WCA presence there.

Name of the competition has been officially changed since I don't think
anyone should be dedicating time to this.

Bawww... :-(

Odd to hear that from the same guy having a "Stefan Pochmann event" every year
:-)

Cheers!

But the Stefan Pochmann event is an integral part of cubing!

Hey folks,
I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box.  But I'm trying to help my 11 y/o
daughter solve the Rubik's Cube for a science project.  I have several sites
that give directions, but I usually get stuck on a middle step.  Does anyone
know of a good web site?  Does anyone have some sound advise on how to solve it?

Dave
