Ideas so far ...
Organisation is 'Platoon Level'.
Activation for squad/section and/or platoon leaders.
Squads/Sections are composed of 2-4 ELEMENTS.
Each Element is 2-6 figures. These may be based together or
individually.
e.g. MG group, Rifle Group, Mortar group, etc.
The number of figures in an element may depend on training levels.
i.e. A Green Element = 4-6 figures; a Veteran Element = 2-3 figures.
(This may result in a Veteran Squad containing more elements than a
Green squad with the same total number of figures and general
organisation.)
Squad leaders must attach to one element in their group, but may
attach to any element and move between elements.
Squad Leaders give bonuses to shooting and activation for their
attached element...
All firing / combat resolution is done by elements, one 'to-hit' roll
for each element.
Auto-fire may be restricted to emplaced machine guns (GPMG / LMG) and
depend on circumstances.
Individual weapon factors are replaced by element FIRE POWER ratings.
e.g. M1 Garand +1, BAR +1, LMG +2, GPMG +3,
Weapon types are B for Bullets, E for Explosive or may be dropped
entirely ...
Individual personal armour ratings are replaced by element DEFENCE
FACTORS.
(Modern body armour may be included as a DEFENCE FACTOR e.g. Flak
Jacket +1)
Casualty resolution / Fire Effect are made by comparing Attackers 1D6
+ FIRE POWER vs Defenders 1D6 + DEFENCE FACTOR.
CONCEALMENT makes a target harder to hit ...
COVER makes a target harder to hurt ...
