Happy 2007 fellow sheepshead players! The following is a long-
overdue reminder of email message options for the SHEEPSHEAD Yahoo
Group. Just to avoid confusion, there are two different but similar
Yahoo Groups that are posted online, with a significant membership
overlap: the Yahoo group called SHEEPSHEAD (which is this group) and
the Yahoo group called SHEEPSHEAD_CENTRAL. Many of you are members
of both. Sheepshead_central (which has been around since 2002) has
been more active in recent years than the Yahoo group called
Sheepshead (which has been around since 1998). But if you're
receiving this message then you're a member of the Yahoo group
called "Sheepshead."
The Yahoo group named Sheepshead_central is located at
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/sheepshead_central/
and the Yahoo group called Sheepshead is located at
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/sheepshead/
Whenever someone posts a message at the Sheepshead Yahoo group, the
message is not only posted on the sheepshead group message board,
it's emailed to the membership if they have elected to receive
messages by email. You have choices as to how you want to receive the
emails, or if you want to receive the emails at all. Here are your
choices:
A. INDIVIDUAL EMAILS - Every message posted on the message board is
also emailed to you.
B. SPECIAL NOTICES (my favorite) - Only messages that are both posted
by the moderators AND specially designated as "Special Notices" (like
this one) are sent via email. Usually only one or two emails per year
are marked as special notices. About 30% of the membership has this
option selected.
C. DAILY DIGEST - Most people have this option. All messages are sent
via email, but are combined daily into one email. So if four people
posted messages on a given day, you'll receive one email with
all four messages.
D. NO EMAIL - You won't receive any email, ever, from the sheepshead
Yahoo Group. You won't get this one either. You'll have to log on to
the Sheepshead Group page to view the messages. About 10% of the
membership have selected this option.
One of the potential benefits of membership is being in on the
information grapevine, so it's nice to at least select "special
notices." If you want less emails, I'd suggest "special notices." If
you'd like more email, select "daily digest" or "individual email."
If you would like to change your message delivery preferences, go to
the "edit membership" section at the Sheepshead Yahoo Group.
See you at the tables!
