I have found the correspondence re squares very interesting. Here in
Timaru NZ we found under Shako 1 that the ability to move squares led to
a number of silly situations with the elite squares advancing against
cavalry to force them to charge! Not being able to move seems much
closer to reality than chasing cavalry round the board in square! We
find the restrictions of Shako 2 much better- you really have to think
how and when to form squares. As to whether squares should be able to
fire, to us it's not important- you form square to stop cavalry charging
you or to punish those who do. You don't want to be engaging in
firefights. The possibility of a minus 1 for firingat chargers is
vaguely of interest but at this stage we want to game a bit more with
standard Shako2 before we start adding flash.
