basing in 25mm

I am about to start work on my armies, and am abandoning my 10mm and 15mm troops for 25mm troops.

While the rules imply that there are several possible basing variants I would like to know what is the most common basing system for 25mm figures. How many per base, and what are the recommended sizes?
