Amber: So tell me about Ethan. Are you serious or what?

::Turning to look at the woman, she raised an eyebrow.::
 
Ehlanii: That's quite the transition.  Why do you ask?

::The human female smiled.::

Amber: I'm observant too, you know. Nine years on Cardassia gives you eyes in the back of your head, ya know.

::Karynn laughed lightly.::
 
Ehlanii: I suppose they would.  Do you know him well?  It wouldn't be the first time I've been interrogated by someone who thought of Ethan as a brother.

Amber: ::shrugging:: I don't know. I've only met him a few times. Danny knows him better than me. That's why I want to hear the gossip from you...

Ehlanii: ::casting a sideways glance at Amber:: You aren't going to let me off, are you?

Amber: Nope.

Ehlanii: ::She shrugged:: Alright then.  I'll have to make the best of it I suppose.  ::She took a deep breath in and let it out slowly.:: What's the question again?

Amber: What the dirt on you and Ethan? Are you guys serious?

Ehlanii: ::with a chuckle:: Right.  Serious.  Um... is "I don't know" a good answer?

Amber: It wouldn't be the first time I've heard it.

Ehlanii: Our first impromptu date was about 8 months ago.  We enjoy spending time together, frequently alone, we have good conversations and lots of fun.  When I'm honest with myself I know I care very much for him.

Amber: 8 months?! I'd be climbing the walls after 8 months and I had only a 'I don't know' as an aswer...

Ehlanii: But we never talk about it.  ::laughing:: We haven't even discussed whether we're "dating."  I don't know if he thinks of me as his "girlfriend."  You know?  We're very good at skirting the issue.

Amber: ::Chuckling:: I can see that. How come you, as a Counselor, haven't raised he issue?

Ehlanii: ::shrugging:: I don't know.  It just always seems so hard, for either of us, to to talk about.  Seems kind of silly, doesn't it?  A counselor who can't talk about her own feelings.

Amber: It's not uncommon. I'll ask again in another 8 months...

Ehlanii: ::she laughed gently:: I'm sure we'll talk about it eventually.  Until then, I guess I don't know what we are.

Amber: But this incident may force your hand. Fear and adrenaline do wonders sometims.

Ehlanii: ::nodding:: ...I was worried we'd never have the chance.  ::She cleared the dark look from her face and pasted on a cheery smile.:: But like you said, he's getting the best medical care and we'll have our chance to figure out what we are... and if we're "serious"...

::Karynn watched as more of the sun went below the horizon.  The sky was a muted, beautiful sunset of pinks and purples.  A peaceful ending to a less than peaceful day.::

Ehlanii: So what about you?  Seeing anyone special?

::Amber smiled.::
 
Wilde: Oh we're talking about me now?
 
::As they walked, they didn't notice the Andorian approach.::
 
Thelev: Sorry to interrupt, ladies.
 
Amber: Not at all.
 
Ehlanii: <Response>
 
Thelev: I was coming to find out what was happening in there. Any news?
 
Amber: Everyone who needs help is getting worked on. It's just a matter of time.
 
Thelev: Everyone rushed off so fast, I've not had the chance to find out about anything yet. So Ethan is..?
 
Ehlanii: <Response>
 
Thelev: ::nodding:: That's good. The Captain was in a serious condition. I just hope we got her here quick enough.
 
Ehlanii: <Response>
 
Amber: Do you know whats going to happen once the Captain wakes up?
 
Ehlanii: <Response>
 
Thelev: Now? Well, once everyone's alright, I daresay the rest of our leave will be taken up with giving interviews and statements to Starfleet Security. So enjoy this peace and quiet while you can.
 
Amber: Well you're all welcome to stay here as long as you want. I'd be glad of the company. Plus there are lots of things to take your mind off...worrying things.
 
Thelev: I know. Commander Walker will let us know if anything happens, I'm sure. It's the waiting that I hate...
 
::Amber nodded. Waiting for things can be a blessing and a curse.::
 
Amber: Patience is a virtue... although no one said that it's easy to learn patience. Why don't we go inside and grab something to eat? Knowing my family they've probably got enough food on the go to feed an army...
 
Ehlanii/Thelev: <Response>
 
::Amber chuckled.::
 
Amber: No one said they were easy to live with, but they're my parents and they mean well. Consider yourselves extended family. Honourary Wildes.
 
::She grinned and led the two officers back toward the mansion.::
