::Talking with the Chief of Operations about potential performances that
night, Quinn had just confirmed that she did not intend to play -
intimidated as she was by public performances.::
GEEVA: Then do not do perform from in front of the crowd.
::Kalpana left it at that, lapsing into silence again - presumably to enjoy
the music. It was a lovely piece, if a little close to home, and Quinn
found her thoughts wandering to David as the mournful tones filled the
restaurant. Her eyes drifted closed for a moment as memories she really
didn't want to dwell on intruded into her mind's eye; not the lonely, last
days of their relationship, but all the happy moments that they had shared
and that she so desperately missed now.::
::Heaving a sigh, she opened her eyes and glanced to the side. Kalpana was
gently plucking the strings of an instrument that vaguely resembled a
violin. It was so quiet that Quinn could barely hear it, but from what she
could make out it, it was a light accompaniment to the flautist on stage.::
REYNOLDS: ::With a wan smile:: Not in front of the crowd, huh?
::She was rewarded with another one of Geeva's lopsided smiles (gods, was
everything going to remind her of David today?) and blushes, then the other
woman touched her finger to her lips and tucked the instrument under her
arm, in what Quinn assumed was the standard playing position for the
instrument. She watched as the Iridian took to her feet and began to
circuit the crowd, her music joined by song as she took to the stage.::
::Sharee's piece ended and Geeva was soon moving back off the stage in
another circuit of the audience. Her song came to an end as she lowered
herself back into her seat, the last note fading out before the instrument
was placed on the table. Quinn shot Kalpana a smile and joined in with the
round of applause that followed her performance, murmuring to the Chief of
Operations as the next acts were announced.::
REYNOLDS: That was lovely.
GEEVA:
::Out of the corner of her eye, Quinn saw the Klingon ensign getting to his
feet, moments before he launched into a robust song. Even if she had known
the words, Quinn wasn't the type to join in a singalong and so she returned
her attention to Kalpana.::
REYNOLDS: What is it? ::Quinn gestured to the sving-meh on the table.::
The instrument, I mean. I've never seen one before.
GEEVA:
REYNOLDS: Have you played long?
GEEVA:
