(OOC: You would really think that checking e-mail would cure almost anything. Thanks for pulling me into the story, Andrew.)

((USS Challenger-A, Security Office, Armory, Deck 8))

:: K'jharr enters the armory looking for the Chief of Security. He stops as he sees a massive Brikar. ::

:: K'jharr smirks to himself. :: oO This must be the Chief of Security. Couldn't be much else now could he. How arrogant of me to think that I was the most intimidating one aboard this ship. Oo

:: K'jharr approaches his new Superior Officer. ::

K'jharr: Good evening, Sir.  My name is K'jharr. I just got in from Starbase 118 and I've been dawdling a bit.

Brakur: Ah, so you're our new officer.  Welcome aboard.  I trust the ship is to your liking?

K'jharr:: K'jharr smiles. :: Oh. Yes, Sir. I was quite surprised to learn that my first assignment would be aboard a Sovereign class vessel. :: K'jarr looks around. :: It's definitely a magnificent ship. I'm rather excited about the prospect of getting better acquainted with it.

:: K'jharr pauses. ::

K'jharr: Sir. I realize I'm only an Ensign but I would like to ask about being assigned to the Ambassador's Security Detail.

Brakur: The Ambassadors detail?  Hmm, most new Ensigns always seem to want to be on the Captains detail, but I thing we can arrange for you to guard the Ambassador.

K'jharr:: K'jarr lets out a breath:: Thank you sir. I'll do my best to protect the rest of the crew, but it helps having to mostly worry about one person. Besides, with you around I don't suppose too many people go after the Captain.

:: K'jharr watches as the Chief turns around and selects a Type II Phaser and a utility belt from a near-by rack. He hands them to K'jharr. ::

oO Did I just hear grinding noises coming from him as he moved? Oo

Brakur: Here you go.  Computer, Phaser Serial AM-509-255 is issued to Ensign K'jharr.  Now, Ensign, normally when a new security officer is assigned to the ship the first thing they need to do is complete a phaser test on the phaser range.  But we're short on time now, so we'll postpone it for now.

:: The Chief leads K'jharr out of the Armory. As they are walking the Brikar suddenly looks like he is pondering something. ::

Brakur: Have you seen the doctor for your physical yet?

K'jharr: No. I've yet to see the First Officer for that matter. :: K'jharr brings his paws close together like he is holding a ball. :: But he's been just alittle busy lately. I didn't want to disturb him so I figured I would see the doctor first. I left a message requesting that he contact me as soon as he becomes available.

K'jharr:: Tracing his facial tattoo's. :: By the way, what did you learn about the torpedo exploding on Deck 14?

Brakur: Response

K'jharr:: Solemnly :: How many people did we lose?

Brakur: Response

:: K'jharr stops and stares at the floor. ::

K'jharr: I'm sorry, Sir. For the people I mean.

Brakur: Response

:: K'jharr looks up at the Chief. ::

K'jharr: You're probably right. Well, I'd better go see the Doctor now. By the way what is your name, sir?

Brakur: Response

((USS Challenger, Sickbay))

:: K'jharr stands outside the door to sickbay. Hesitating. Worry lines his features as he stares at his forearm. He looks at the empty spot to his right, takes a deep breath, and enters. ::

K'jharr: Well, Doc, I'm ready for that exam.
