Hello, I write this message for asking about BRP. I'm a great fan of RQIII and I
like the ancient sorcery system.Somebody knows if we have in the next future new
publications about it? Thank you

LAS VEGAS (October 28, 2009) Neoncon, a regional, multi-genre gaming
convention, is proud to announce Gen Con LLC as the exclusive sponsor of
GamesU 2009, the Social Games Unconference. Video game professionals have
the Game Developer’s Conference (GDC) and GamesU serves the same purpose,
but for the community of traditional, tabletop/social game developers and
publishers. Already generating buzz across the industry, GamesU has all the
earmarks of a “must attend” event for both established and aspiring game
designers. Gen Con’s support of the GamesU launch is tremendous validation
of the vision held for the event, now and in the future.
Taking a page from BarCamp, WordCamp and other more tech-oriented
unconferences, GamesU creates a community-driven and ground-up learning
environment where game designers come together, share ideas and learn from
one another.
"Gen Con is excited to partner with Neoncon to launch GamesU," said Scott
Elliott, senior director of sales for Gen Con LLC. "The experts assembled
for this inaugural event represent decades of publishing experience coupled
with the cutting edge of face-to-face gaming. Grassroots, fun, smart and
social games - these are the hallmarks of a Gen Con experience, which is why
we are on board."
Taking place in Las Vegas from November 5-8, Erik Mona of Paizo will present
the Keynote Address at this inaugural GamesU. Among others, Mona is joined
by a notable group of presenting game designers, which includes Randall
Bills (Catalyst Game Labs), Marcelo Figueroa (Greater Games Industry
Catalog), Joshua J. Frost (Paizo), Matthew Grau (Wildfire), Jess Hartley
(White Wolf), Ed Healy (MoonStew), Boyan Radakovich (Shifting Skies), Stan!
(Super Genius Games) and John Wick (Wicked Dead). Topics include game
design, pitching to the pros, career development, effective use of the
Internet and online social networks and much more.
About Neoncon/GamesU
==============================================
In 2007, a small, local RPGA-centric event was relaunched as Neoncon, a
regional, multi-genre gaming convention. From its inception, Neoncon primary
mission has been “to elevate the discussion of tabletop gaming” and help
bring it out of the pop-culture “basement” in which too often lingers in the
broader public mind. Supported by local monthly game days and growing number
of key publishers and distributors, Neoncon has steadily grown with each
year of operation. With the 2009 show, Neoncon introduces GamesU, the Social
Games Unconference; itself a most tangible expression of Neoncon’s mission.

Yes, thanks. I was asking more if the community recommended any favorite pages,
like Simon's.
Doing the general search still provided helpful links. I'd never read Lev's good
summary of the history of RQ:
http://au.geocities.com/lev_lafayette/0507runequest.html
You can also use his English-Tetun dictionary.

That's my first introduction to the Wayback Archive, and it's perfect for this.
Glad to see old RQ resources will still be readable.
Yes, Simon Phipps moved long ago, and Oliver Berntz (search Bernuetz as well)
just recently. So IMHO the most valuable stuff is save.
Many links from other sites linking to them will broken, this may become more of
a nuisance.....

Pomeroi,
You make some good points.
We should start a letter writing campaign asking the publishers of TradeTalk,
Tales of the Reachign Moon and RQ Adventures to put their stuff up for sale in
.pdf format at drivethrurpg.com or lulu.com.
By the way you can buy the excellent Hearts in Glorantha for about $7.00 in .pdf
format at:
http://stores.lulu.com/d101games
You can also get Moongose's Signs & Portents magazine, which usually has some
great RQ stuff in each issue, for FREE at drivethrurpg.com or
http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/series.php?qsSeries=13

Hi Andr,
> your email seemed to be directed in MY way (editor of Tradetalk).
hm, yes and no. In rqaddicts there was a thread about sharing a magazine
as PDF, which led to a talk of copyright and piracy. In turn there was
this statement "TT8 is (rightfully) available as PDF".
So this (my first) message was meant for rqaddicts and more or less an
OPEN letter towards Tradetalk.
I wanted to unleash my frustration about WHY DIDN'T I KNOW?! (me) and
WHY IS RQ/GLORANTHA ON THE FRINGES? (lots of people).
It seems to have a lot to do with marketing. Most (!?) sites - even the
professional ones,
1) don't really explain what it is all about. You never catch one
comming from another RPG system, being much more "spoiled" by the
marketing power of the competition (not only, but including "two Ds"
(wash my tongue/keyboard)
2) let you search about on a stupid web site, even if you know what you
want.
> Unfortunately you have send it to the wrong person.
> Luckily for both of us, that person forwarded your mail to me. :-)
Yes, thank you Simon. I thought somebody of TT would read this group.
> Tradetalk 5 to 16 are available at the moment.
Okay, I don't want to comment on all your statement. But of course I
acknowledge them all and I am looking forward to experience all you said.
Only one more:
> We dont see ourselves as the right people to publish other organisations
> publications as PDFs.
> That is also an issue of copyright etc.
> Rick meints aka Moon Design might be interested in doing this in the future.
I understand and I unterstood before this is a difficult matter. In some
cases (I named Pavic Tales in my original mail), it will be even
difficult to find the authors. I have never seen a PT in any version,
pirated or not, but lots of people say wondrous things, so I got
curious, still looking.) Maybe a joint effort of you pros and semi-pros
have a better chance to come by, than a big company has.
I am sorry if my original mail sounded rude, but my first aim actually
WAS to let off some steam of frustation. The more I thank you, Andr,
for (at least seemingly) not _too_ angry about it, and in spite of my
tone take it as _constructive_ criticism.
Hopefully see you again on your NEW web site. Eagerly waiting for TT#17.
And besides, I think TT and TotRM do belong the best RQ/HQ/Glorantha
related mags ever seen (saying this, I don't consider Tentacles or Wyrms
FN as a magazine).

That is partly my fault as I haven't quite finished the new cover art, but we aim to have the cover up soon and the book will be available for Thanks Giving. Follow the story of the book development on the Blog.

I beleive that some of the Gloranthan Classics are still available from Moon Design and a reprint could be immenant. All of the Unspoken Word books will be going online via www.glorantha.com and most of the freeforms that were ever written and possibly the old Tales of the Reaching Moon in the next couple of months.

Moon Design Publications will be releasing Sartar a virtually stat free 400 page book set in Sartar 3rd Age Glorantha, which contains vast amounts of information on Sartar, Boldhome, Jonstown, Swenstown, Wilmskirk, Clearwine Fort, the Colymar Tribe, the key cults of Sartar and its history, mythology and geography. The book also contains a 65 page campaign of epic proportions, which is statistic free and takes players from being humble Thanes to mighty Heroquesters. We are in the final stages of layout and art on this project. So go to www.glorantha.com for more information. This is the definitive work on this region and the Orlanthi Barbarians, created by Jeff Richard, Greg Stafford and a host of Gloranthan luminaries. It is a must buy for all RQ, HQ and Glorantha fans.
I have forwarded these comments to Andre Jarosch the head honcho at Tradetalk.

You should really put this info onto your website! And where one will find it: On the ordering page. Offering all sold out paper material in electronic form is a good idea in any case! Maybe you can acquire rights to do so for items not originally from tradetalk (like the Tales etc.,) as well! I believe, if you don't have the connections, who else has? Even me on the consumer side don't like piracy. I am willing to pay for a lot of material you do not even find in auctions anymore (Pavic Tales, older Tentacles, Johnston/Boldhome/... BTW: Your Web Design is confusing! The first time I visited I actually did not find out how to order! Having a nice 1st level menu with buttons in the bottom simply implies NOT to look for a completely different type of 2nd level menu in the on top of frame!

Yes it was a continuation. Issue 46 was about the Greater Demons.
The author was Dave Morris.

There is a White Dwarf article on demons in Runequest in issue 44, and on lesser
demons in 45. I wish I had them on .pdf (or at all).
46 also has Runequest material, but I don't remember what it is, so it may or
may not be a continuation of that series.

Is your handwriting terrible?
Does your character sheet quickly get scruffy?
I am currently writing a web site where one can: a) Type-In and store character details b) Print a nice clean character sheet c) Return to update just the changed details d) Re-print a nice clean character sheet
It will also calculate bonuses and apply to RQ2 or RQ3 plus some customised variants thereof.
I'll let you know when its ready, but what I would like now is some non-English samples of RQ2 or RQ3 character sheets. I can convert to USA spelling all by myself :-) but anything else would be interesting.

I don't know about RQ River Boat Rules, but in Elric!/Storbringer (Chaosium) there was a book dedicated to Naval Lore and in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Game (Games Workshop) in one of the books of the "Enemy Within" was a chapter about River & boat rules (one of the pregenerated characters was a boatman). I think that both books are very interesting about that subject, so if you want, I could spend some time of "Library Use" trying to digging them...

There's basic information in the excellent Runequest Vikings boxed set, but there are other good in-print resources.
one gamer recommends "GURPS Low-Tech through Warehouse 23, it has several sections discussing seafaring technology, ship stats in the back, and a bibliography that includes several useful books"

My favorite is the Pilot's Almanac for the Harn setting: http://www.columbia games..com/ cgi-bin/query/ cfg/zoom. cfg?product_ id=4002 which is easy to adapt to RQ.

one gamer recommends "GURPS Low-Tech through Warehouse 23, it has several sections discussing seafaring technology, ship stats in the back, and a bibliography that includes several useful books"
Judges Guild Flotilla: is a simple rules source, with layouts/deck plans for various Ships. Two Rafts, small sailing boat, a Galley, and a viking boat, plus several others. Simple rules though, but very adapatable. If I remember right does not deal with Magic. Anyone correct me if I am Wrong.. (Used one of the rafts in a scenario where a group of explorers were ambushed by scouts for an army of Reptilades/Lizard Man race. Simliar to what was common on the missisippi river when going down stream in the early 1800's)
Bireme and Galley, by Fantasy Games Unlimited (FGU) compatable with Chivalry and Sorery, a more precise book or rules, deals with most circumstances of Naval Warfare, including magic. Definetly a more complicated set of rules.
