I will be creating a photo gallery page for Mark Foster's fortified
Roman port city. For the last 16 months Mark has been putting
together a Roman Seas city on his gaming table. I have uploaded one
image to the main page at Roman Seas website -- Mark's image replaces
the original city image I used. The images Mark has supplied me is
nothing short of incredible. These have to be the most impressive
images I have seen to date of any wargame display. I would have
expected to see such a display in a museum glass case. Very
impressive.
Mark is still working on the city model, and is nearing completion.
I have a few photos on hand, and Mark will be sending in more soon.
Much of what Mark is to create models using the parts, (roofs, walls,
etc.) of other models to create new building models. He has also
added trees, shrubs, beaches, etc., to give an authentic feel. The
overall effect is to give the viewer the feel of a real, living city.
Only thing missing are people, and assuming the city is pre-Julius
Caesar, wagons and carts, and of course, smoke. Rome was notorious
for being a smoky place, since everyone heated and cooked on open
flames, probably produced using wood, or perhaps, even coal, since
coal was used prior to Marco Polo's journey to China, despite what
Marco might have you believe.
Very impressive, Mark!
I should have Mark's Photo Gallery setup within the next 7 days
(fingers crossed, which I am sure was Roman thingy).
