Re: [risustalk] Re: Working on a new setting...in SPACE!!!

Like has been said ... there is no wrong way to play ... as free form is risus
is ... the game purist metality seems out of place ... i add house rules to my
risus ... for some added "serious" logic ... risus is after all designed for
quick and light hearted ... if i want serious, campaign style with some real
world logic and tactics to my combat ... straight cliche vs cliche dice doesnt
represent that well...

I like your attack/defend option .. i may do something like that in one of my
games ... dont be dissuaded from experimenting and house ruling ... you had some
good thoughts

Gregory

say that they are usually not necessary (not that you can't, it's your
game and there's no wrong way to play).

In the end, I really only wanted to make 2 little changes - the attack
vs defense combat style (where the attacker wasn't in fear of losing a
die), and a ship to ship combat mechanic. But while looking further
into how that would change combat, I realized that I needed to tweak how
Teaming up, area attacks and even bonus die equipment would work.

Looking at the changes again, it does seem a tad excessive. Heck, I
don't even think Arcadomai had that many rule changes (even all the
cliche supplements in Arcadomai are more along the lines of "Here's a
bunch of stuff you can do with this cliche, if you'd like" type of
thing).

For now, I think my plan is to do some more work on the spaceship combat
mechanics, and shelve the attack vs defense combat system for now.
Perhaps save that for some type of feudal military setting...~scribble s
notes for setting to write after this one~

Also, I'd like to thank everyone for the feedback - I do tend to get
carried away with the rules tweaking now and then :-D

Here's my usual remarks. None of this seems necessary. This is just the "Let's change RISUS to make it the same as every other RPG" approach. Why don't you at...
