Well, DOOM pretty much killed both Rise of the Triad and Blake Stone, even though ROTT had KILLER multiplayer....

The reason DOOM was so successful was it had a MUCH better engine, with the non-orthagonal walls and stuff. And, IMHO, it had a better single-player experience...
