Howdy,
Another revision might be to handle tonnage differently. Currently
tonnage is the sum of Distance, Strength, Dexterity and Toughness x
3000. Thus the following beings way the same (42K tons)
Distance: 1
Strength: 6
Dexterity: 1
Toughness: 6
Wounds: 10
Distance: 6
Strength: 1
Dexterity: 6
Toughness: 1
Wounds: 10
However, the first "suggests" a powerful, hulking creature, while the
latter might be a light, nimble being.
Perhaps tonnage should be based on Strength + Toughness + Wounds
times some factor (2K?).
So the 1st creature would be 22 * 2000 = 44K.
The 2nd would be 12*2000 = 24K.
Just a thought.

Megavehicles, as I have called them in the past are a possibility
for the future.
Yes you can post your enhancement to the group. I have no problem
with that.

Because you tend to see a single super-vehicle by itself more often

best represented as a monster. I hope Ken won't mind me revealing that he was considering such during playtesting of Revised. Revised of course doesn't have Kingdoms... well it pretends to but it means about as much as your monster's name.

Howdy,
I'm still playing 1st ed, though have read the 2nd ed.
Any revised set should have a fully developed set of rules for sci-fi
"super" vehicles (e.g. Atragon, SY-3, flying saucers, Super X 1-3,
etc.) These are sort of there in the revised set, but I don't really
find them satisfactory. They don't have enough options to reflect
vehicles that take on big monsters virtually 1-1. Currently, when I
create them, I treat them as Mech Monsters, which works OK, but it
would be nice to have a Monster "Vehicle" "Kingdom". Nothing that adds
too much complexity/time to game time/play, but something to give a
better feel for vehicles. E.g. maybe a different military strike chart
for them. I wouldn't want to see the added complexity of something
like spcial vehicle turn radii.
Anyway, that's my thoughts. Be nice to see something available as
print on demand. That would give it more visibility. When you Google
on GMR or Giant Mosnter Rampage you really only find the 1st ed. Much
harder to find refs. to any of the 2nd ed. stuff.
Best,

I just picked up AH, Shadows and Tooth & Claw. I find the balanace of
AH a little weird...
The Atomic Humans can pick almost any of the monster enhancements
while the monsters have a very limited pick from the super powers,
even though some like Eruption and Fuse are very appropriate. Easily
house ruled, but what really gets me is if Atomic Humans can take
enhancements why would they ever take Steal Power or the Heal super
power? Mimic Enhancement is almost completely superior to Steal Power
and the monster Heal enhancement is simply a better version of the
Heal power. Overall it looks pretty good though and I like the powers
introduced.
Shadows is pretty awesome and I like seeing powers from the old
edition revised, but I found Tooth & Claw a bit disappointing since it
didn't seem like it offered much beyond what the basic rules did,
merely another way of doing it.
Has anyone played Annihilation? How does it compare to GMR military?
Is it compatible?

I've been away and this reply is a month late but I'll offer my
opinion. GMR was a very good game and filled a long empty niche, the
Revised edition is amazing and though some things took getting used to
it resolved any problems I had with GMR. I've seen an early draft of
Atomic Humans and plan to get the full one along with Shadows and
Tooth & Claw. Between the monster rules, the atomic human rules and
the military rules in GMR there's very little that can't be done well.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see more stuff, a book to give
the military some new options would be great, but I don't want to see
a fundamental change like between first and revised. And if there is
no fundamental change then there's not much need for a new edition.
There is some stuff that could be done, like making the Mind rules
from AH standard in GMR or atleast an option mentioned in the mainbook
and incorporating errata and such. It's just the Revised is pretty
solid rules-wise and I don't want to have to keep rebuying books and
converting monster stats. I probably won't buy a major rules overhaul
again since there is nothing wrong with revised but I'd pay for a
polished up mainbook with errata, particularly if there's a print version.
It's me, Casey. I don't know if anyone remembers me, but hopefully
somebody will. I was around for the old edition and the new one up to
Evolution (I even playtested it) before I ran into a period of
busy-ness with other things. Godzilla: Unleashed rekindled my interest
in giant monsters but I can't actually play it since I don't own a Wii
yet and the PS2 version is essentially Save the Earth again. So I dug
out my GMR rules and started buying more miniature giant monsters on
Ebay. Which brings me to the part of this post that isn't me just
reintroducing myself. I know there were atleast 2 write-ups of the
Toho daikaiju for the 1st edition, has this been done with Revised or
do I get to be the first?
I may just need a proofreader. I'll let you know.

I am still looking for a few playtesters to try out a new edition of
GMR. Anyone interested please post here and I will contact you as soon
as possible.
Thanks,

Hey Everyone, I have been considering revamping Giant Monster Rampage for a new print on demand edition for the summer of 2008. In addition to this I am also considering revamping a few of my other games and have them all be intercompatable under the Toy Battle System. For example you would use the Giant Monster Rampage rulebook for monsters and the Fire at Will book for armies. These two rulebooks could be used seperately or together.
My question to you guys is this something you would be interested in? I would also need a few dedicated playtesters to help me get the games in sync with each other.

Sorry for the long silence. I am still working extra hours at my day
job so I have little time to write. The good news is that Insecticide
is almost finished and I hope to have it released by the end of the
month, hopefully sooner. I am currently trying to see if aspects of
the Insecticide rules will mesh with GMR to add a new style of play by
combining the two. If you are interested in playtesting to see if
these rules will work well with GMR please email me at
kaijurampage@...
Thank you for your support and patience,
Ken
Just wanted to let everyone know I am still here. We had several
people quit where I work so I have been working a lot more picking up
the slack which hasn't left me much time to write. I am slowly working
on all of the titles I mentioned in past posts. Right now Insecticide
is closest to being finished and I hope to have it released by the end
of the summer.
Thanks for your patience,
Ken

If it doesn't work you can go to the miniatures section and find it in
the top row of games. Also it is under the title Giant Monster
Rampage: Shadows. I don't think a search of GMR will bring it up. Hope
this helps.

avaliable?
Thanks I appreciate it! I'll see if I can get something together for
Annihilation and GMR: Shadows.

him, but if you've got something more elaborate to send him as a news
story, it would probably help. More publicity never hurts, especially

Rich
Lovely, I'll go check it out shortly. Thanks a lot, Ken.
By the way, I have only six more days to go until my big
summer convention here in Germany, where I'll demo
GMR in a major way! - I'm going to do short monster-
versus-versus one-on-one games, two-versus-three and
three-versus-four battles, monsters vs. Ultraman battles,
and a King of the Hill type scenario / battle royale.
I'm hoping that players will show up for each of those.
I'm taking GMR: Revised as my rulebook, but I'm not
sure whether I am going to need GMR: Atomic Humans
to run my stuff. Atomic Humans is almost a separate
superheroes game.

Yes it is before the reduction. The 4 and 5 damage point values should
be used as if they were listed with the other damage values under the
different ranged combat enhancements.

Hey Ken, thanks again for the errata on Armor.
I have a question about 4-5 damage single use enhancements. The point
cost for the higher damage categories is -before- the single use
modification, correct?
Thanks in advance.
Peace.
Stef
