7) The German name for this sea port city

The Nazis capitalized on the pro German sentiment and in 1939, invaded
this port city, that started off WW2. The Jews here were later deported

Lech Walesa, that would later spearhead the anti communist movement.
Name the city.
8) This word gets it's name from a Russsian term

Glazkov, to indicate the publishing of underground literature, by
dissidents protesting against the Soviet system. Alexander

Greetings from the Quintessential Club(The Quiz Club of IIFT Delhi)
IIFT :: Quo Vadis '09 presents Bizdom - The Business Quiz
“It is not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game” -
Whoever had said the same has definitely never experienced anything as
fiercely competitive as Bizdom. It is not just any other business quiz,
nay, it is an institution, where only the mightiest of the mighty are
brave enough to compete and even fewer tough enough to win. Unlike the
battlefields, the wars at Bizdom aren’t fought with tanks and bombs,
rather it is your grey cells that distinguish you from just another
nameless soldier. But that doesn’t mean that the competition is any
less demanding, as only the best make the cut to fight it out for
prizes worth Rs. 30000. Hosted by Arul Mani, the QM who needs no
introduction, Bizdom has been the one event in the NCR region that has
made quiz aficionados coming back for more. So join us again this year

well done (is of course only half begun). off late, a nice change to

non-arcane-biz-trivia flavour coming into biz quizzes. ICFAI's bizquiz
was one such, conducted by the intrepid mitesh.
elims questions that we did right i jotted at www.fundamental.in
it was yet another wet rainy weekend, and I landed up in bangalore via
the spanking new shatabdi express to partner with aravindh, having
cancelled my plans to drive down from chennai with venkatesh (matti,
who as you will see ahead played a leading role in the events of the
evening)(tatkal to the rescue). after yet another episode of waiting
and timepassing for prelims to start (4PM start became 4:45PM, though
rain was a half decent excuse)
about 40 teams turned up inspite of the rains i believe.
the finals were well detailed, with loads of audio, video and a
smattering of all kinds of topics. emphasis was high on info tech
trivia, esp in one round as a particular pc brand was sponsoring a
laptop for the best quizzer in that round, won by shubham of CTS
(partnered by venkatesh) on a set of 10 very tech related qustions, of
which i got 2. one was unfortunately and expectedly a sponsor type
question, though creatively set).
rounds like 8 questions of 2 anagrammatical trivia answers (NEO/ENO
for example) made it fun to attempt. most of the rounds were on the
buzzer, and yet passed on irrespective of the question being buzzed or
not (team would buzz and write the answer, which would be checked.
answer would pass normally there on)
Venkatesh and Shubham were in great form, and duly won with some
hiccups provided at the end. Yahoo (Udupa, Ajay) were 2nd ( i think),
Anustup + Harish 3rd, after a tie with Prasad (who really gave it a go
in the last buzzer set getting 4/6 right!)+Guna. Self, Gopal+JK,
tanmay+, etc made up the numbers from 4-8
It was a pleasure to do a 36 question elims and then a nice, long quiz
(though some of the questions appeared really long winded, & maybe all
these questions need not all be on a buzzer. bear in mind, this did
ensure in a way that every body had a chance on all questions). if
only the event could be held tightly and within time slots.
all in all, a great way to spend the evening. hope more institutions
engage such afficionados.
off with the old, in with the original new.

A few Questions (with answers), previously asked at my earlier quizzes, are as follows :
Q1. X, a former Editor of Business India, is a consulting partner at a Public Relations (PR) firm Y. He successfully lobbied against the takeover of ITC by BAT. He also lobbied on behalf of Tetra Pack for a duty cut on the imported raw materials. Sheila Dikshit hired him to bolster her image, when her government faced flak over the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) corridor fiasco, before the Delhi Assembly elections. Identify - X & Y ?
Q2. Who at the tender age of 20 months, remains the youngest person to grace the cover of the TIME Magazine. His Father, incidentally was himself, a Time - ‘ Man of the Year ’ awardee ?
Q3. What term X, in corporate parlance, came about thus :
In 1941, Lawrence Holt, head of a merchant shipping Co - The Blue Funnel Shipping Line, during World War II, noticed a strange fact. When a ship was torpedoed by the German U-boats, the first to die were the young, fit sailors while their older counterparts were most likely to survive. He brought this to the notice of Curt Hahn, the headmaster at his son's school.
Together, they figured out that the younger sailors had less life experience & in a difficult situation, the younger soldiers were more likely to fold up and give in. So Holt & Hahn began to work together - Holt funded the venture and Hahn setup a X for the young merchant seaman.
Sports Quiz: Will be held on the 7th of November at 4 pm - 6:30 pm
