Kanto Live Adventures

KLA is a Friday and Saturday all ages table-top/live action hybrid
modeled on the Pokémon series. Players role-play as trainers both in
standard table-top and in live action set pieces.

Set a number of years in the future, descendant and relatives of the
original characters take on the challenge of Celebi II. Their purpose
to travel in time and collect Pokemon to face the Neo-Rocket Threat.


If you are interested in helping out with this events contact us ASAP!

Check out web sites, produce drawings, do whatever it takes (within
reason).  If you aren't sure about the copyright of the picture send a
link.   I will go ahead and make a database so folks can add in
Pokémon  and URL and such.

Just wanted to ask folks are their any requests of what will be in the
next PLA or what things you might like to see?

Currently we are going to do it on either Friday Saturday, or Saturday
Sunday at the next Hexacon.

Well being the time is running out here is what's going to happen as a
heads up to all potential players.

PLA 4 will be a tamed down version of the original ideas.  More
introducing the new group the Pokémon Liberation Front.  It will have
the typical hide and seek during the con but much fewer pokemon.  So
don't spend your whole weekend doing only it. :)

The cool thing of course is that you will get to keep your Pokémon
from PLA 4.  No really you will get to keep your Pokémon and use them
in PLA 5 if you want!

It will be different though in the sense that we will not have a
tournament on Sunday, instead we will have the new and innovative
Pokémon Contest.  So its not how well your Pokémon fights but how well
it displays its prowse!

Final note if you want to play a member of the PLF you will need to
pre-register, choose your Pokemon and provide the card and let me look
it over, if its not too extreme and you're willing to play with the
limitations then it good as done.

Simplest thing to remember about the PLF is that they only get a
single Pokemon, no changing mid-stream or capturing.  The Pokemon is
yours for life.

Well as most of you may know I was thinking about postponing the
above games for this year.  As it is I still plan on it, but instead
what we're going to do teasers for the upcoming games.

I'll keep the ifnormation mostly to PLA since that's what this group
is about. Pokemon Live Action will probably be run on Sunday (may
have the catch phase Friday and Saturday).  It will finish up with a
quick tournie and some lead ins to the next one PLA 4.

I am hoping we can give folks a good taste of TFLAS and they'll be
back and ready for the upcoming games.

Just wanted to update folks, not much has progressed this month, with
the passing of my grandmother and one of my first best friends that I
met here in Phoenix.  Of course life must go on, it is more and more
looking like we will do the traditional Pokémon CCG for the cards in
our games.  I have yet to put together an outline or design for the
new cards, if it does happen it will happen this month.  I am also
unsure if I still had my willing volunteer to do the cards, so I need
a double check.

Anyway I will be posting additional information this upcoming month.
Since voting is not an option on this group I found a neat way to
simulate one using a table.  I need folks to fill out this table to
see what human resources we have for PLA 4.  Please fill out the
table to the best of your ability!  Thanks

RL meeting are unsure at this time since many of our potential are in
school and such so I won't push for RL meetings unless we find some
convenient times and locations.

VR Meeting seem the best option but possibly we might get an RL
meeting before the con.

Unlike TFLAS group, I can't do polls here, so I'll need folks to go
ahead and post which group do they want to assist with storywise.

The groups are
1. Professors, Gym Leaders, and Traditional Trainers
2. Team Rocket, Aqua and/or Ruby
3. Pokémon Liberation Front (PLF)

A brief synopsis of the PLF is they are trainers that are devoted to
a single Pokémon.  They have desires that are for Pokémon that is to
say fairness rights, equal rights, or even possibly supremist rights.

Team Aqua and Magma haven't got into too much detail yet, but there
goals are to have powerful Pokémon perhaps to control others (human
and Pokemon) similar to Rocket.

So folks were just about to get started on PLA 4.  The items we will
be working on Story Design and Game Design.

Story Design

Story is as such a new group has entered the mix of the traditional
trainers and Team Rocket.  They are a subset of trainers which only
have one Pokemon, they call themselves the Pokemon Liberation Front.

These PLF members only have one Pokemon but their Pokemon seem to be
more abilities than any of their own kind.   Additionally the human
members say they have a bond with their Pokemon greater than anyone.

What are the plans of the PLF members and whose side are they really
on.  This the basis of the story.

The interesting note to make is the newly discovered Hoehn regions and
whether Teams Magma and Aqua, will be involved in anyway.

Game Design

Game Design will be customized and further streamlined.

I am wanting to do original cards that all have second attacks.  So
pictures may be clipped from prior cards, or found on internet sites,
or if folks would like to have their original drawings in cards I'd be
happy for them.  This also means potentially the design of 350? "new"
cards by June, talk about deadlines.  I see a lot of cutting and
pasting in the future.

We still will have XP bonuses of HP, Ability, Combat, and Power,
though certain restrictions may be lifted such as as Only PC can get
Powers.

Everyone can help with everything, in fact to help with the above if
folks would care to get some pictures and upload to the Photos
section.  Incentive hey the person who gets the most stuff up gets
choice of Pokemon and abilities.

I am going to pencil in a date for our first official live meeting
for October 27th. What time and place, well that's dependent on who
would like atttend. So I would like to invite everyone to reply that
would be interested in HLA, and PLA to please post.

I am not sure how many folks also would be interested in PLA 4 as
well so, all this will get discussed during that meeting.

Looking forward to hearing back from folks!

well.. for the moment i at least have regular school
internet.. during my off classes at least (ie, i have
no class 1, 4, or 7th hour here..)  they may have
crappy internet and anceint computers, but they have
no security restrictions.. (in fact i wouldn't be
surprised at all to see the blaster worm show up, if i
haven't already missed it.. -_- ~sigh~) but it is
better than nothing by a fair shot...

We will, of course, still be seeing wild Pokemon?  If we'll have
Team Rocket, what about appearences by Teams Ruby and Sapphire?  Can
we expect a Tournament on Sunday?

Hexacon will be at the Tempe Mission Palms, so we'll have the new
senario of high numbers of college students being around.  Could

task of Programming Chair for CuCon 23, I can tell you my nefarious
plans.

The idea,

A new group is forming past Team Ruby, past Team Sapphire, this is no
Team at all, this is the PLF, The Pokémon Liberation Front!  What are
their plans, what are their goals, stay tuned for more information!

We'll have Gym Leader, we'll have Team Rocket, we'll have at least
One Professor.  Pokémon will have new abilities and powers.
As usual I'd like to have folks pre-registered if their interested in
this.

It happens, we'll see next year.  Sorry as my time has been devoted
to Hogwart's Live Action which is turning out to be quite a workout.

well, as life keeps throwing me into chaos, then when
i do finnaly have the ocational bit of free time, i
have no will... add to the fact i may not even be able
to make it to Hexacon, and i seem to be the only one
trying.. unless someone else picks up where i left,
which is only a stones throw away from where Oak left
us.. i think PLA may be in a coma...

So, what's the status on PLA4?

well, i had something neato to say with my notes.. but
yahoo messed up.. so i wing it again, i've been
working on a possible PLA 4, i'm sending all my non-GM
only notes and hoping for feedback, if i get enough, i
may get this workable by the next Hex if i can go to
it..  i'll also upload the files if IE6 will let me..

PLA 4 Preview:

Scene opens up to a news interview:

Reporter: I have with me today, a number of people who
will be involved in the construction of the new
pokemon arena, which will lead to revolutionary new
changes in the pokemon league, of biggest concern, i
have the man who is funding this new arena, so,
Magnolvo-san, what would you like to tell the
audience?

Mason Magnolvo: well, we're hoping this arena will
bring some big changes to the pokemon league,
hopefully bringing it a lot more order, giving the gym
leaders a little more control, the official ones at
least, and hopefully weed out the bad unofficial ones,
and promote the good unofficial ones to join.

Reporter: That good, but what are to the rumors of the
gym leaders taking over the role of the professors?

Professor Oak: I would like to answer that one; I feel
we the professors play too dominant a role in today's
L.A.R.P. league.  This interferes with our other
important affairs.  By giving every worthy Gym leader
their fair share of responsibility, it helps not only
us, but also to weed out those who don't have the
maturity level to adequately be a Gym Leader

Reporter: I see.  So then, what are the new
organizations that are growing around every Gym?

Giovanni: as few people realized, in the past I ran
such an organization underground with my Gym, it made
my gym stronger, even if some of my methods weren't in
everybody's best interest, but now even Team Rocket
has to take it's share of the responsibility, and own
up to it's proper status.

Reporter: so what is the point of these organizations?
  to undermine the leagues authority?

MM: no no, far from it, it's to keep a closer eye on
the more responsible trainers, and hopefully make some
of the less responsible ones more mature by giving
them all a purpose as a group.  Right now, the changes
will only apply in Kanto, but if this works, within a
few years, it won't just be Jhoto as well, but the
whole world will be able to enjoy the full respect of
pokemon training.  You see, this arena will also be
the new center of the pokemon league when it's
finished, and all official Gyms will report their
status' here.

Reporter: what do you say as to the rumors of problems
in the arena's construction?

MM: well, I can assure you a lot of that is rumor, but
we do have one official problem we're hoping the
trainers who plan to participate in the opening
tournament of the arena can solve..

Reporter: well, there you have it, that's all the for

PLA 4 player types:

player type: professors: these are oak, elm, or
whatever, these players are basically for people who
want to help run the game by handing out wild pokemon,
healing, explaining rules, introducing new players and
the like, but don't wish to acually pokemon battle

player type: Gym leaders: these are people in the
roles of giovanni, or sabirna and the like, they hand
out the wild pokemon to the wild pokemon players, heal
pokemon, introduce new players, and can battle their
pokemon, they start with a total of three basic
pokemon, or two gym leader pokemon, either way with a
total of two grace levels for either HP, attacks or
other specails. pokemon of the Gym leader even if not
gym leader type act as Gym leader pokemon and will
only obey Gym leaders or Gym favorites(see below)

Player type: wild pokemon: these are people who wish
to go around and play our wild pokemon, at any time
they can carry as many as three or four uncaptured
pokemon as they choose, and can turn to a gym leader
or professor for new wild pokemon cards, day one these
wilds are all level one, day two new wild pokemon will
be level 1-4, and day three or better new wild pokemon
will be of level 1-9(with uniques like mew, mewtwo,
legendaries ect. as provided at set levels)

Player type: basic trainer: these are trainers who
have not joined a Gym, all trainers will start out
this way, they begien with one basic pokemon of base
level

Player type: Gym trainee: These are trainers who have
joined a Gym like Team Rocket members, only this
applies to all Gyms now, these players work with their
Gym leader and are more likly to gain perks and favors
and can leave their pokemon safly with their gym
leader at any time

Player type: Gym favorite: each Gym can only have one
of these, these are trainers favored by the Gym leader
and can possbily have their pokemon upgraded to a gym
leader type as a gym leader favor, Gym leader pokemon
will only respect Gym leaders or Gym favorites

Player type: extras: these are your nurse joy, officer
jenny, random parititioner, and everyday people of the
pokemon world, these are people who don't really wanna
do that much except have the privlige to say to some
part they were involved, their roles can vary as well
as their responciblities..

Active pokemon are too few to remain a player type,
pokemon ablities are thusly opened up freely, not
enough people have ever expressed an interest as a
players active pokemon
