Yes and no. I know a legally blind judoka who is surprisingly good at
ground-fighting. As he says, when you're in full-body contact with
another person you don't really need to see in order to have a good
picture of the engagement.

At arm's reach or beyond, though, he's a victim waiting to happen, and
he'd be the first one to admit it.
