I posted some images of Maia/Maya and Tetsuya in the photo section. I
was short on time so I only ULed about 2 or 3 of them. I'll scan some
more in when I have the time. Hrm.. Maybe I should start posting them
in the Files section just so people don't get confused? ^_^' I'll
start working on some sections for the bookmarks. I'm pretty sure all
the memebers can edit/add/ bookmarks,UL files, and the like. I'm
almost positive I kept those options open. If I didn't then they'll
soon be that way.

OK, you know that dog statue in the police station that when you put 100,000
yen in it, it gives you some kinda item that lets you build legendary weapons
with? I was wondering, can just keep putting 100,000 Yen in it to gain more
of that stuff, or does it only work once? Since you need like 5 or so pieces
of it to build all the weapons.. and as far as I know that statue dog is the
only thing that gives it to you.

Alright...I know one way is to make maps and give them to that guy who
reminds me of the guy from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The problem is.. he only
gave me 3 cards.. and I need 4! >_<' Someone told me that you can get them
talking to demons when you get a Silver Dragon when you get your fortunes
told. Does anyone know what responce the demons have to give to give you fool
cards? Do they need to be under a contract first before they'll give them to
you? Any help would be great.

To the best of my knowledge, the dog only gives you
one Hihi-irokane, which is used to make Hihi-irokane
Armor. It may not be worth the time to do it there,
since you can buy the stuff later on at Mu Continent.
On the other hand, at 10,000 yen, it's definitely
cheaper to get it from the dog.

What I'm about to say might sound discouraging.

I'm by no means a master of this game, but in the 250+
hours I've played it, I've gotten two FOOL cards from
demons. Both were the result of blind luck.

What I can tell you is that you need to have a
conversation that lasts through at least four consecutive
turns. The demon must be made Angry twice and Interested
twice in any order. If you make it through that minefield,
there's a 1/32 chance that it will ask the FOOL question.
There is not one, set, FOOL question, but you'll probably
recognize it because one of the options will allow you
to prove yourself to be a Grade-A nincompoop -- such as
tellin a demon that you'd give your life in exchange
for immortality.

The only help the Silver Dragon effect gives you is
that it gives you more chances to successfully complete
a four-response conversation. Also, a good place to
go FOOL hunting is on the third floor of Kasu High,
since Mou Shobou and Ixtab both have the same
personality and are often found together.

Hrm, I'll have to try it out since I'd really like to use that Jun-
ancestor-who's-name-I-forget-just-now's persona. I also heard that if
you get 999 tarot cards in all the groups, even free cards you can
get 999 fool cards from that map maker guy when you return a map. I
don't think I want to spend the time collecting that many cards
though, and I HATE making maps. I always miss some little piece and
he gives me nothing for my effort ;_;

As far as I know, the 999 card trick only works if
you haven't gotten any FOOL cards at all. I wouldn't
worry about it. Junnosuke, like all of the
Ancestral Personae, is terrible. The only argument
I've found for him is that he can be returned for
the Carma Ring.

Salam gives you three FOOL cards for finishing the
map of Monado Mandala. Map-making is simple if
you remember that you get a message telling you
when the map is complete.

Hi ^^

I joined this yahoo group from the sumarucity lj community.. I
pretty much introduced myself over there already ^^;

I translate 4-koma strips quite a bit.. so I'll share here as well
as sumarucity.. here's the first one ^^
http://www.shoujorobot.com/megaten/persona01.jpg

I also make (shoddy) wallpaper when the need arises (when I get
really sick of what I'm looking at currently), and sometimes I make
Megaten wallpaper. I don't claim to be very good, since I don't put
a lot of time or effort in them (since they're just for me and not
really for public release), but maybe someone would enjoy this one.
This is taken from a beautiful painted-style fanart of Tatsuya and
Maya that I found on the net.. comes in two sizes, 1024x768 and
800x600. Please keep in mind that bigger is well, bigger.. so it
will take longer to download. Here's the links: 1024 -

Hi everyone ^^

I found this group quite by accident and thought I'd
joined. I finished my first runthrough of Persona 2:
Eternal Punishment a few weeks ago, and am about 13
hours into Persona 2: Innocent Sin, which I got
Thursday night. I've played about ten hours of
Persona: Revelations, but the perspective gives me a
headache. ;;^_^

Um...I don't know if anyone's really interested in
freeform rambling about Innocent Sin plot points or
character descriptions or general gameplay comments
about Innocent Sin...so I'll refrain unless anyone
asks. ;;^_^ How many people here have played it? If
anyone else has, I'm dying to discuss it with you,
because I'm sure I'm going to hit a brick wall
sometimes with the game. (My Japanese is FAR from
perfect, so...)

I found Katsuya and Baofu in Innocent Sin so far, and
it made me laugh. Baofu met Tatsuya and Jun when they
were little kids, and essentially scared them by being
slightly tipsy and rambling to them about adulthood
and childhood. He thought that was funny. And Tatsuya
nearly bites Lisa's head off when she suggests that he
and Katsuya resemble each other. *laugh* Eikichi's my
favorite character in Innocent Sin right now, although
Maya's growing on me. Since she's not the Main
Character in this game, she's allowed to talk a lot,
and she's pretty cute in a perky sort of way. She's
already made Tatsuya smile and blush! Daishokku! And I
liked Katsuya the best in Eternal Punishment.

If anyone wants images, I bought the Persona World
Guidebook, which is essentially an encyclopedia for
all three games, complete with images. I'm also
working on a Persona page, but...

Oh yeah, I have a bunch of doujinshi too. @_@

Has anyone heard the terror that is the Persona Ondo?
That's one song that never fails to crack me up each
time I hear it.

Anyways, nice to meet you all ^_^

Priya (blah, blah, blah.)

Interesting thing: You know those Lunatic demons that
just ramble and rave about yellowish blue and kimchi
and whatnot? They didn't change anything for the
English game, they just directly translated it from
the Japanese. @_@ And the 'You-ew' is 'U-uomae' and
'Iiiii' is 'U-uore'. And the Jellies' 'Squig, squig!'
is 'nyu' or 'nyo' or 'pyo'. I really like the
translation/localization for Eternal Punishment. XD

I've logged about 50 hours -- though a good
deal of that time has been spent alternately
playing the slots at Mu Continent and staring
blankly at all the kanji I can't read.

I'm storming Mt Mifune right now. It's been one
of the most humbling gaming experiences I've had
in a long time. I've gained five levels on this
hill and I'm still a couple of levels below the
demons I'm running into.

Your Japanese can't be any worse than mine. I can
sound out the katakana and hiragana, but I'm limited
to a handful of kanji and my vocabulary is terrible.

I thought that was just heartwrenching. It wouldn't

I'll have to go with Lisa. I was hooked the moment
I heard her theme.

It's hard not to. I mean, he just looks so *bad*
in Tsumi. Pasty-faced and thin-lipped, he looks
nothing like the epitome of RPG coolness that he
is in Eternal Punishment.

I'm glad to see there ARE people posting. I's kinda hard to find stuff
on this game. I dont know WHY it's such a pain to get this game series
over here, but it's definitely worth bringing over.

I've loved the persona series since part one. The graphics were
horrible but the characters were loveable and the story and gameplay
was good. I learned from plating ff8 that looks don't mena squat.

Anywhoo, I finished that EX dungeon thing on Eternal Punishment. I
love Persona 2. I love Maya's outfit best of all--I hate dresses and
skirts but if I saw that outfit at a store--It would be SO mine.

My fave characters would probably be Baofu. Cuz he's realistic and
moody. I love all of them, really. I WISH they would bring Innocent
Sin here. That'll be another 5 or six years IF even. Oh well maybe
I'll just order the bloody game anyway and print out a translation faq.

I love the original folks from part one making an appearance. Chris was
my all-time favorite from part one...aside from Mark and Nate-->they
were such dumb@sses. Oh yah and Brad when I chose to pick him. Alana
was funny too---but Chris made the game and the quest, to get him,
worthwhile.

I like the Maya and Tatsuya 'thing'. Even though she's WAY older than
him-- It's actually kewt. He's so moody, he does seem older than his
age.

I didn't think Lisa was cute with him, she seemed annoying and so
stereotypical. And that voice acting--She was like an even more poorly
dubbed Sailor Moon. If I ever play Innocent Sin-->I'm going for Maya.
Heck, I'd even chose Jun if I could. I swore that dude was a girl-->he
looks like Noin from Gundam Wing??!?!?

And what is Soul Hackers? Devil Summoners?!? From what I seen it looks
pretty kewl, too! I wish Atlus would get off their bums and start
portin' these games here.

I mean if they just expose these games more--I think it would be a hit
like the Final Fantasy series...only it would attract a broader band of
people... Granted, I don't think Devil Summoners is a GOOD name to use
here, but it can worked on.

I mean it's so interesting: an RPG with modern settings... none of that
usual medieval (sp?) stuff of other rpgs. I know the FF series, NOW,
seems all futuristic, but from what old skoolers of the series told me,
it's lost it's grace somewhere at 7 or 8 (my money's on 8). I love
stuff that stands out.

When I hear someone at the store asking about the game (1 or 2) I just
HAVE to tell them about it. I basically sell that game.

I think the thing about Persona and the Revealation Series that
intrigues me the most is the art. I LUV that artist. If ANYone has
found ANY official pics of this game or othrs related PLEASE post them.
I drew a fanart pic of the first I could contribute later!

Yo! Take care! BYe!!!

ˇˇˇViva Persona!!!

Stephen Silverman kind of scares me. ^_^ No wonder
Ginko acts the way she does. Everyone in this game has
issues with their father - which would make
Nyarlathotep's final form in Innocent Sin make sense.

Ahhh~ I feel your pain. I sat down and played a solid
seven hours last night. >_< I get into these horrible
gaming jags, where essentially I get up, I go to work,
I come home, I game, I sleep. Repeat until game is

days. >_<

Oh dear. I hit Mt. Mifune (that's after the LAST
BATALLION landed, right? That mountain?) about - hm -
an hour and a half ago, right before work. I actually
was really lucky; when I was fighting King Leo,
everyone except for Tatsuya died. >_< (As was the case
the first time I played the blimp fight in EP.) So I
just killed Leo with Tatsuya, and gained SIX LEVELS in
one shot. Over 36,000 EXP. It was ridiculous; I had 18
points to distribute! @_@ So I'm at Level 32 on the
mountain. I also was lucky somehow and managed to gain
everyone's Custom persona - Maia, Vulcanus,
Rhadamanthus, and Eros. I rather prefer the way
Innocent Sin handles it; if you make the right choices
in the game, you automatically get your upgrade,
instead of madly trolling for a mutation. (I'm
bitter...I played EP through twice, and I ALWAYS had
the DAMNEST time getting Maia to gain her Modification
Mutation. Rar.)

It was really creepy travelling with Shadow Maya
through Mt. Iwato. I kept expecting her to stab me in
the back or something when I wasn't looking. @_@ Maya
is not meant to 'fu fu fu' evilly when you talk to
her. Couldn't they tell?

Oh, for the other poster who said that they'd buy
Innocent Sin and print out the walkthrough - sorry,
there's only a REALLY PARTIAL walkthrough available on
gamefaqs - that I've found, I mean. And I got past the
Walkthrough the second day I played. >_< It only goes
up to the Concert Hall in Aoba Park. However. >_< I've
been taking notes as I've been playing, and although I
don't have the time or patience to make a full
walkthrough - you know, with all the items and HP and
EP for every monster - I can at least slap together a
walkthrough telling you where to go after the Concert
Hall and what they're talking about - the plot, I
mean. (Well, to an extent; I dunno half of what
Ideal-Sensei is rambling about with the Xibalba and
that book, but...)

Would that be helpful to anyone? Should I bother? I've
also been taking notes on Contacts; if you can read
what they're saying, the demons are pretty much the
same personalitywise as they are in EP, but, uh, that
only helps if you can tell what they're saying. ;;^_^
I can at least note down what makes some of the demons
Interested or Joyful?

Wasn't it? I wouldn't have recognized him but for what
he was talking about! A LOT of Innocent Sin is really
sad, especially after you've played Eternal
Punishment. And as I play, I keep thinking, "Wow,
Eternal Punishment must have been SO COOL to people
who had played Innocent Sin first!" Such as when Sudou
took Jun-kun hostage on the roof of the Airship Museum
to remind everyone of the Other Side...

Heh...some of the dialogue is really funny too. King
Leo is rambling that his Joker-sama is a beautiful
goddess, leading Lisa to think that the Joker is their
long-lost oneechan...but no, it's just someone who's
too pretty for their own good. ^_~ *laugh* I cracked
up when Lisa put two and two together and got 4, when
in fact the answer was 5. ;;^_^

Lisa's a fun character, yeah, I like her a lot. But
I'm really looking forward to getting Jun in my party.

Yeah, yeah, it's the estrogen talking. Or maybe the
caffeine. @_@

I think that Jun MIGHT join the party after Mt.
Mifune. Because Yukino has to leave the party, and I'm
guessing from the foreshadowing that it happens at Mt.
Mifune?

Yeah, I like how the character designs changed from
Tsumi to Batsu. Just in the fact that they changed the
skin tones to something warmer. ^^

Playing Eternal Punishment before Innocent Sin gave me
some major clues where to go for my next dungeon ;;^_^
Such as the Gold and Smile Mall, y'know, since there
were flashbacks to those two places.

It's deeply disturbing.

http://www.chthonian.net/persona/persona-ondo.mp3

Background: An ondo is a kind of folk song with a set
tune, more or less. Most series have an ondo. Persona
is not an exception. The scary thing about the ondo is
that it's sung by Tatsuya's voice actor, Koyasu
Takehito. And he's so obviously cracking up while he's
singing it. @_@ Tatsuya laughing while he's singing is
a weird mental image.

The lyrics don't help either:

Haa~ Peru-peru-perusona,
You and I both have Persona
This is me, and that over there is me too
That's me too - everyone's me!
If me and me dance hand in hand in a circle,
We'll get all mixed up!
Haa~ peru-peru-perusona,
Which one is the real me?

Haa~ peru-peru-perusona,
Papa and Mama both have Persona
This is Papa, and that over there is Mama too
That's Papa too - everyone's Mama!
If Papa and Mama dance hand in hand in a circle,
They'll get all mixed up!
Which are my real parents?

....it's just very odd. Apologies for any mistakes in
the translation; I did it really quickly from memory.

Oh, wait, here are the lyrics:

http://www.protege.org/PPersona.html

...close enough.

As long as I don't have to give anyone cards while I'm

Those were the early days, when everyone had to be
blonde or redheaded with an English name!

I find it amusing that they made the PIASU no Shounen
- the hero of the first Persona, I mean - less
girly-haired. They gave him a haircut. ^_^ And it
looks like they took out his earrings, too, which is
silly for a hero named "Earring-Boy" ;;^_^

It's not supported for the simple fact that it's not

Megami Ibunroku Persona was released in Japan in 1996 for
a very diferent audience than Square, for better or worse
regarded as the 'best' RPG maker by Americans, was
targetting.

It's not that the graphics were bad -- except the
overland map, of course -- it's that they were basic.
Then Final Fantasy 7 debuted with its fmv and media
hype and generally crushed all 'lesser' games. FF7
really changed how people percieved the importance
of graphics in an RPG, and Square has been riding
it ever since.

I don't know. I mean... that 'hearts' thing.

Ciel Fong's guide at GameFAQs is a good place to start. It cuts
off after Smile Hirasaka, though. You can also get some help
from Dolies & Kewpie's site:

http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/3857/index.html

As for Tsumi being translated... don't hold your breath.
As the PSX nears the final moments of its lifespan, it's
even less likely for Atlus of America to release a game
that's been passed over once before.

<RANT>

The company has an odd mental block when it comes to the
MegaTen games and their sidestories. I'd swear that someone
decided back in '96 that the series wouldn't sell in the
States and has done everything to make that a self-fulfilling
prophecy. Neither of the Persona games that we've gotten
has had any advertising support. They were released four
years apart with no news or related games to keep the series
in the public eye -- despite online initiatives to get the
Devil Summoner games released.

Meanwhile, we've gotten _Eggs of Steel_ and a dodge ball game.

I never had the patience to pick up Chris. In my opinion,
Ellen's a better party member anyway. She gets Michael, who
kicks much hindquarters.

Tatsuya and Maya have a very complex relationship. They've
known each other since they were young, and the Masked Ranger
kids all basically adopted her. It's not necesarily romantic
love, since Tatsuya is also trying to keep a promise he made
to Jun -- to protect 'oneechan'.

Pshaw. Lisa is cute with anybody. ^_^

Though her American voice-actress did leave a lot to be
desired, she's much better in Tsumi. And really, all of
the characters are stereotypes. It's what makes them
accessible.

> And what is Soul Hackers? Devil Summoners?!? From what I

I'd like that. But I'm fatalist enough to realize that it
won't happen.

I don't know about Devil Summoner, but the gist of Soul
Hackers that you join up with a group of hackers, the
Spookies, to figure out the secret of a city-wide network
called Paradigm-X -- which has apparently been designed
to steal people's souls. It uses the MegaTen system,
which means you go around collecting demons and storing
them in a terminal -- a Gump (Gun-COMP) in this case.
I'm not sure about the demon-fusing system used.

Not in America it wouldn't. You'd have people talking
about 'dated graphics' and 'lack of innovation'. The
MegaTen games were mostly made for the Super Famicon or
were originally released 3-4 years ago. They aren't
shiny enough to hold the attention of the average
American RPG player, who's been suckered by Square and
its apologists into believing that graphics are the
be-all and end-all of a game.

I thought 6 was the last great hurrah for the FF series,
as 7-9 try too hard to be epic and sweeping. 7 came close,
with a cast of characters that were at least somewhat
likeable. Then came FFX. I've watched my brother play it,
and have been very impressed. It's a genuinely good game,
which is what Square really needed after all the bombs
they've been dropping for the last few years.

I can lead you to some fanart, but since I didn't draw it,
I don't feel I have the right to post any of it.

Well, you have an excuse in Eternal Punishment. The
Old Maid attack can ruin your day when Tatsuya's the
one affected and you don't know to have everyone defend.

I laid Leo low with Earth and Water comboes.

I had to modify them. Then again, I didn't even have
any of them in my party's stock.

Of course, I think that allowing multiple mutations
is cool. It's nifty to see everyone in a fusion get
a parameter increase after a fight. It's almost
enough to offset the *horrible* combo magic system.
Making it uniform in Eternal Punishment was definitely
the right way to go.

> bitter...I played EP through twice, and I ALWAYS had

Maia Custom was nothing for me. Trying to get Wong Long
to modify into Shokuin nearly forced me to quit in
frustration.

But I really wish they'd used Maia Custom's sprites
from Tsumi rather than simply swapping Maia's
pallette.

I've been trying to put a full contact list together.
I took the low road out at the gates of Karacol and went
back to the world map after getting EMPRESS Dorga for
Yukino. I'll have to go see if Area 5 is open in the
factory, since it should have all the demons I was
runnning from at Mt Iwato.

I've gotten the intended effect in reverse. The near-misses
in Eternal Punishment make the events in Tsumi seem much
creepier. When the students are Kasu were talking about a
new Student President, I knew immediately who they were
talking about, and it freaked me out a little.

Don't remind me. Now I've got Mark's mid-90's
blaxsploitation dialogue stuck in my head. And
I've been struck by the horror of the random name
changes inflicted upon those poor, unsuspecting
Personae and demons.

Oh, the humanity!

He looks a lot less evil in the American version.
A lot more girlish, too. And far more bland.
But at least he got to keep his skin color.

Mostly.

Hi! I just joined the list (obviously). My name is kris, nice to meet y'all.
I'm a friend of Priya's; I'm afraid that over winter break I stayed at her
house for a week, during which time I was so inundated with all things
Persona that I've become almost as obsessed as she is. ^^; I'm just starting
my own game of it, but I played through the last 2/3 of it at her house, so
I know everything that's gonna happen anyway... I wanted to see the first
third, though. My current goal in life is to get myself a copy of Tsumi and
make a rough translation so people can understand the gist of what's going
on (Priya's already working on it... her Japanese isn't THAT bad). We're
making a persona webpage. When we feel that it would be okay for other
humans to see it, we'll let you all know, since most likely there aren't
that many people off this list who'd care. >_>; What a sad state of affairs.

I suppose I should introduce myself more throughly. I'm a 21-year-old
fangirl in college; I like yaoi and cuteness and Katsuya (among other
things, of course); and I write bad fanfic and draw bad fanart. I also make
crappy winamp skins. I hope to sometime make one of Nyarly: The Great Creepy
Father. I've just bought a book on Jung. I am a complete gamer girl, and
reading through the archives of this list, I've discovered a number of
people really detest Final Fantasy games, FF8 in particular. This makes me
sad. Not incredibly sad, but sad. But whatever. My favorite games (not in
any particular order) are Terranigma, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, FF6, FF8
(ha!) Skies of Arcadia, and of course, P2. I also play fighting games, music
games, and puzzle games, but you guys probably don't care about that. I like
Maya with Katsuya, even though I DO love that little angstball Tatsuya, but
uh... man, if it were ME trying to decide between the Suou brothers, there
would be no contest. I'm not saying Tatsuya's not a catch, but compared to
his brother? Heh.

Nice to meet ya.

I know but if they would've only gotten off their butts and do a little
somethin' called ADVERTISE---gaw! Atlus! So much potential, so little
thinking power.

You are DEFFINITELY right about Square, tho'. One web sight joked about
making the best RPG: First thing is to give it the name Final
Fantasy... tho' Square probably wouldn't be to thrilled...

I used to like 'em. Now I think they're cocky. I used to like graphics
all the way but, that changed REAL quick after ff8. I was like SO
hoping Rinoa would just shut-up & die somewhere... and Squall,, and
Seifer, and Selphie, and.... EXCEPT Zell---> he should've been the main
character.

I don't see how they can brag anymore---EVERYONE from thhe Square
universe are clones of each other. I didn't find myself impressed with
either the movie (boooooring!!) or the 10th game (oooh!!! Pretty!).

Ch! I think I was? Not likely. I'm realistic to know--that would be
TOO good to be true.

Oh joys! I don't know who's worst the company who THINKS they are god
or the company who's ASLEEP and uncaring to fans. I guess I'm gonna
have to punish them and get a burn. No one's getting my money who
doesn't listen to my concerns and wants.

Oh gawd, I LOOOOVED Chris. He was SO manly! EVEN with that HUGE x in
his head. I loved that guy. I figured I had ENOUGH swords in te
party, but Ellen is WAY more realistic than Alana...?!?!!? "Yoo-Hoo

I like that, tho'. At least it would have purpose. They look cute to
me. ˇˇˇViva MAYA y Tatsuya!!!!

Okay ! I gotta get out of here! Nice to interact with someone that
knows more about Persona!!!! Stay kewl!!!

From pink to orange, too, big difference. I thought
Shadow Maia Custom was pretty, even though her attacks
were evil. (Not that evil, actually; I had someone
equipped with Jack Frost, so all her ice spells just
healed me, and I used that character to heal everyone
else.)

Durga...what a useful persona. Her all-enemy Physical
attack kept nailing most of my battles in one turn. I
was glad that they didn't get rid of her when I lost
Yukino and replaced her with Jun.

Speaking of which - I finally got Jun-kun. It only
took 30 hours. :E If you haven't finished Karakol yet,
here are some really quick tips:

1) Stock up on revival items, especially the full-HP
egg (6000Y at your friendly neighborhood Satomi
Tadashi.) You have to fight two forms of the Joker in
a row, and he looooves to use Mahanma and strong Holy
attacks with two hits. >_< Alternately, if you have
someone with Recarm or Sama Recarm, you'll be very
happy. Jun kept killing off 3-4 out of my people, and
it was a nonstop struggle to keep 'em alive.

2) Watch out for those Holy attacks. Tetraja or Silver
Manisha(?) will help, as will Mediarama. Yes they
will.

3) Jun casts Status Effects when he's feeling
particularly peevish. Stock up on antidotes and SP
items too. I personally think the upgraded Personae
eat wayyyyyyyy too much SP. We're talking Maia (4 SP)
to Maia Custom (25 SP) to Artemis (50 SP). What, I'm
only allowed 8-9 spells before I run out of SP at this
level? >E FWIW, I'm at Level 45-ish now.

Y'know, Yukino and Anna...those two...well, nevermind.

Me too, unless I can remember what they liked in
Batsu. Stuff like when they ask what kind of animal
you are, answering 'Cat' always makes them either
Happy or Interested. Happy, because then they say
you're an unliked selfish loner, or Interested, when
they say that you're self-sufficient. I just
remembered this particular one because in EP they
always asked Katsuya this question, so I always
answered 'cat'. ;;^_^

Hm, seeing the warped flashbacks Jun is sending to the
people actually made me sadder because of how much it
obviously hurt the characters, whom I've grown to like
a lot. "Jun's not like this! Jun was so kind! Please
open your eyes!" Maya crying and begging Jun to stop
it also made me shiver. >_<

What I like about these games is how well you get to
know the characters, and how they are so closely-knit
as a group. It's not just a random RPG group - big
strong attacker, black magic user, white magic user,
maybe one of them is out for revenge, etc etc, they
just all happen to be heading in the same direction -
but in IS and EP, at least, you get a real feel for
each character and how they fit in the group - each
character has a real connection with everyone else in
the group. The contact system helps a lot with seeing
that, of course.

Yeah, I get that too. Strange, hm?

And Yahoo cut off the rest of the message. Oh well, it
was a long one. ^^

Priya (who is finds Jun to be as fun a character to
play with as she'd anticipated)

A moment of silence, please, for my Tsumi savefile,
which truly gave its all for the cause. It is
survived by my Playstation and Game Enhancer.

I'd just gotten Jun, too.

Ah, well. At least I'll know more about the system
this time 'round.

You're preaching to the choir. I doubt the MegaTen
games would have sold as well as the Final Fantasies.
They're too different from what most people think
of when they think of RPGs, and the occult flavor
probably causes some people to pass on them.
Mythology isn't everybody's cup of tea, and the
concept of bargaining with demons would disturb
some.

And by all accounts, the Devil Summoner games are
difficult. Really difficult. That would limit
their saturation with the average gamer.

But I do believe that Atlus squandered an opportunity
to make the series a success in America.

There is a reason for that, historically speaking...

I like the characters in 10. They're far more sympathetic
than the cast of 8, none of whom I cared about, and
they're a strong contrast to the congregation of idiots
inhabiting 9. Furthermore, I found the sphere system to
be a nice method of levelling up, and the combat system
very enjoyable.

As it should be. I don't expect Atlus to obey my every
whim, but as a consumer, I can vote with my wallet.
The only Atlus games I have are from the Persona series.

More realistic? No. I said nothing about realistic.
More useful? Definitely. Chris's Persona selection
is very limited, if Henry LaPierre's FAQ is correct.
Alana is a good party member, but her Ultimate Persona
pales before Michael. Brad is okay, but I'd rather
have another female in the part to maximize the
usefulness of the female-only Personae (Sumi and Hera).

It's enough to make you wonder if Nyarlathotep really
exists, isn't it?

Crawling Chaos was pretty disgusting, but this...
yikes. It's even worse than the first form of
Pandora.

It's a plot. It has to be. Maya obviously
enjoys slapping men for loking at her chest, so
she's developed a sure method of drawing their
gazes.

That or she's really proud of her breasts.

It's better than the oversized football helmet
Venus got. Poor Lisa.

And she didn't even have the decency to help me
contact demons.

I've been through it, but my savefile's in the sky
with Elvis.

In the first fight, Tatsuya got confused, but it didn't
go too badly.

In the first round against Angel Joker, he hit me with
an attack that looked similar to one that the Big N used,
so I had Eikichi cast Tetraja. He wheeled out Mahanma
on the next round only to have my party break out into
a fit of megalomaniacal laughter.

By this time, I'd abandoned the concept of combo
magic against bosses. Between Tetrajas, Eikichi went
crazy with his Radamanthys's sword attack. Tatsuya used
Agidyne. Lisa and Maya alternated between Mediarama
and their elemental spells.

> 2) Watch out for those Holy attacks. Tetraja or Silver

The saving grace of the Custom Personae. Eros and Maia
get Mediarama, and Radamanthys gets Tetraja.

I was around 41st level, with Jun a level above Tatsuya.
I think -- it was pretty late.

It brings a smile to my face, it does.

I don't think I've ever wanted so badly for my
on-screen presence to reach over, give someone a
hug, and tell them it would be okay as I did in
Karacol. To know that Jun was twisted by
Nyarlathotep is one thing, but to see how it was
done, and how he used Jun to hurt people that Jun
obviously loved...

You realize that you just described the party from
Eternal Punishment, right? :)

I really like that the combo contacts change over
time. I'm still debating Innocent Sin's contact
method, though. While it's nice for each person
to have a variety of options, it doesn make it
a bit unwieldy.

> Yeah, I get that too. Strange, hm?

That's the effect Atlus intended, I guess.
