Yep, I was hoping to just use the .lst editor. It doesn't work. Oh well,
back to doing it with pencil & paper.

Custom races that I create with bonuses to stat show a stat bonus in the
"Race Adj" column, followed by and equal penalty in the "Other Adj" column.
If I cut-n-paste the race into one of the main lst files, it still does the
same thing.

I have spent the last two hours messing around with this stupid thing, with
nothing to show for it but a headache. What a colossal waste of time. Why
not just gray out the option until it actually works, rather than get us
code-impaired folks' hopes up?

This behaviour is normally associated with a problem processing the
character, particularly the age settings. What version of PCGen are you
using?

I know that classes don't work for level based benefits (it's on my much
neglected to-do list), but in the 5.6 release, races should work correctly
for most normal things. Please feel free to send me your custom race and
bioset files and I will check out what is wrong.

Hi all. I have just started useing PCGen and am trying to create a
half-elf cleric useing SRD basic 3.0 rules.
I have put in the race and class, but when I go to the domains tab, I
can't work out how to add the deity. I click on the choose button but
nothing happens.
What am I doing wrong????

My newbie question is how does one add their familiar? I can't figure that one
out.

I did figure out how to add the domains but not any deities. I entered in the
information on Murlynd but couldn't get him listed as my deity.

|ALIGNMENT.SHORT| is listed as a field in the Help but it doesn't "merge"
(is that the term?) when you create the output sheet. You get
ALIGNMENT.SHORT in the output. Is there a field for this?

I have a question about CMP. Plainly are the data sets working? I
own boks, but I don't have the time to individually place every bit
of info from them into PCGEn....although it would be fun to try.

SO I was hoping that maybe someone who has purchased a data set or
two cold give me a headsup as to whether opr not I should spend the
money for them.

After adding your deity via the "Deity Editor", did you restart
PCGen to see if it appears?

MaxDex is a "defined" var not a modifier so therefore I handled it
differently. Look under the stat dex see the <define></define>. I did
it differently purposely. MaxDex is a global var that is associated
with a stat so it made sense to define it within the stat but it is
not a stat modifier.

All the values in the Calc are within the AC object. Since there were
no external references I did not add the "<object>." it seemed to
make the formulas extremely bulky to add explicit references when the
values where all internal to the object, so I just added the explicit
reference to point to values outside of the object.

Other than a lack of feedbackt he reason I U/L the files here on Y!
is in part the issues the WIKI formating is causing to the xml
samples. If you pull the xml files in the folder here you will see
there are no spaces inside the names. The wiki thought the names were
wiki words and therefore it formatted them as wikiwords. Example

    AbcD
becomes formated
    Abc D?

take a look at the xml in the files here and give me a responce to
them thanks

But there is, from the Wiki documentation:

Escape sequence

Anything placed between [= and =] is not interpreted by PmWiki. This makes
it possible to easily do WikiWords that are not links and turn off other
special formatting interpretation. The [= and =] can span multiple input
lines, allowing effects to be applied to multiple input lines. For example,
space+[= at the beginning of a line will cause the text up to the next =] to
be monospace and uninterpreted by PmWiki (useful for program listings).

"Private vs. public J2RE - Installing the Java 2 SDK installs a private
Java 2 Runtime Environment and optionally a public copy. The private J2RE
is required to run the tools included with the Java 2 SDK. It has no
registry settings and is contained entirely in a jre directory (typically
at C:\Program Files\j2sdk1.4.2\jre) whose location is known only to the
SDK. On the other hand, the public J2RE can be used by other Java
applications, is contained outside the SDK (typically at C:\Program
Files\Java\j2re1.4.2), is registered with the Windows registry (at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft), can be removed using Add/Remove
Programs, might or might not be registered with browsers, and might or
might not have java.exe copied to the Windows system directory (making it
the default system Java platform or not)."

In a BONUS:SKILLRANK structure, is there a variable that keeps track of the
ranks in specific skills.
Example: I want to make a seperate skill for Use Magic Device, relating to
scrolls, seeing you get Synergies off of other skills. So in programming theory,
you just set a BONUS:SKILLRANK tag equal to the ranks in Use Magic Device.
Is there an easy way to accomplish this, or am I going to have to define my own
variables? and again, how do you get the file to recognize how many ranks you
have in a skill?

thanks

In the RSRD (data/d20ogl/srd35/rsrd_skills.lst) "Survival (Underground)"
is based off of "Survival" in the same way:

Survival
     KEYSTAT:WIS
     TYPE:Wisdom
     SOURCEPAGE:SkillsII.rtf

Survival (Underground)
     KEYSTAT:WIS
     EXCLUSIVE:YES
     TYPE:Wisdom
     SOURCEPAGE:SkillsII.rtf
     BONUS:SKILLRANK|Survival (Underground)|Survival.RANK

Hello,

I'm fairly new to PCGen and I have a question. I am currently at
work [don't tell anybody :)] and don't have any of my books handy so
I am not sure if this is a bug or something I'm not remembering. I
am creating a character with a 14 INT (+2 bonus). When I give him 4
ranks in the Craft(Bowmaking) skill he ends up with a +4 modifier.
The character sheet shows the +4 for ranks and +2 for INT bonus, but
it also shows a -2 for misc. modifier. I've tried several different
craft skills and this is always the case. The Craft(untrained)
skill does not show the -2 modifier.

Is this a bug or am I forgetting about some kind of check penalty?
The character wears +1 Chain shirt (armour check penaly of 1) so I
don't think that is it. I am using v5.60 on a machine running WinXP
Pro. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PcGen automatically applies a -2 to all craft skills unless you have the
appropriate craft tools equipped.

I've run into that too. The fix is to load the sources before
loading the character. On the source tab hit the Load All button
for the soruces, THEN load the character. Pretty much instant.

I suspect that part of the problem are some old files that I'm still
using, but haven't gone to the trouble to try to isolate it.

There is a -2 penalty if he doesn't have the craft tools that he needs at
hand. Equip him with the appropriate tool set and this -2 should go away.

Try equiping your character with bowmaking tools. Cuurently there is a
penalty to certain skills (Craft skills, pick lock and ride) unless you have
the nessissary tools for the job.
