I loaded Pathfinder Core Rulebook, APG, UC and UM.

Did the stats, human race, 1 level of bard, then went to "Feats and
Abilities" -> "Archetypes" and on the left side under "Archetype" the
Archeologist is the third one done.

Hi,

Did you create a new character or load an old one? If you loaded it may

I'm running 6.0.0 on a Mac, running OS X 10.8.2 . When I open my character, an
Oracle using the Pathfinder rules, and go to the Spells/Known Spells tab, I can
see Oracle and a disclosure triangle, but, nothing else. I can not open the
Oracle to see any spells. The same for the Prepared Spells tab.

Is this a general bug, a Mac bug, or am I doing something incorrectly?

	 Thanks.

When you double click the Oracle on the Known Spells does it not drop down and
show different levels of spells?

If you double click spells in those levels they become known spells and you can
prepare them.

No, that does not happen. Nothing does.

Well, Oracles do not prepare spells so you wont' see anything on the
prepared spells tab. You should be able to open the "triangle" and
select oracle spells on the spells known tab.

Otherwise, it might be a mac bug and I am on windows.

Hi Rob,

Oh you can, but it's the cost vs. benefit. You're doing that for every spell.
Hence my statement
it's possible but not really worth the effort.

Hi,

The question presented is Choosing a Spell, and Adding the spell to the
Spellbook.

We can easily do the first part with a simple choose. CHOOSE:SPELLS is quite
versatile.
It's the second part that can't be done easily (Well, actually we can't add
anything to a spell book
today, we can add it to your known list).

You can easily set up pairings like this:

ABILITY:Special Ability|AUTOMATIC|Grant Magus Spell ~
Foo|PREABILITY:1,CATEGORY=Special
Ability,Chooser Ability(Foo)
Now, you'll get the Grant Magus Spell ~ Foo if the chooser has selected spell
Foo. Easy to do. Now,
rinse and repeat for every spell. Labor intense and doesn't cover any additional
source books that
increase the Magus's spell list.

I don't see an easy method for an automatic method to handle that today with any
other set up. For
today, you can mainly add the spell to the ability to note it. And then the user
needs to manually
add it themselves. (You can do a Bonus for a Known spell easily enough, if
that's what you were
alluding to before, doesn't cover what the OP wanted, but does allow the end
user the additional
spell in a legit manner).

I guess I'm missing something in the understanding here... why can't we do a
TYPE=Arcane rather than setting up for each spell? We can do this with
skills and feats - Weapon focus being a an example that comes to mind... or
an 'ability' example... ranger's favored X ability chain...

If we can set it up to choose and put it on/in the known spells, then the
user can put it in the spell book themselves...

Hi,

The main reason is AUTO tags and Bonus tags.

CHOOSE:WEAPONPROFICIENCY coupled with BONUS:WEAPONPROF=%LIST|TOHIT|1 or
AUTO:WEAPONPROF|%LIST

Spells don't have the proper AUTO and Bonus tags to be used the same way. You
have SPELLLEVEL and
SPELLKNOWN and those do NOT take '%LIST' without that it's an arduous process of
coding each spell
by hand. We need Code Support.

I'll break it down further if you need later.... have a game tonight, and have
the players showing
up now.

I'd like to make more use of PCGen now that it's seen improvement, but I need it

Good evening!

I am having difficulty finding the Starchid (Desna) trait from the Advanced
Players Guide:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits/religion-traits/starchild

If the trait is in the current build (I am running v6.00.0), perhaps there is a
certain order I need to select things in before it becomes visible?

I am a human druid, neutral good alignment, and I have chosen Desna as my Deity.

I have made sure that "Advanced Players Guide" has been selected as my source.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give!

APG is there, UC & UM are there but very alpha. ARG is not available yet.

To access them, use the "advanced" data set loader, not basic.

Thank you. I noticed while loading them that some selections are colored in red

that means that they have a dependency on something else, for instance
you must load the core rulebook before the apg will not be red, etc.

Hi,

For the ones in red, click on them and the description at the bottom
will show why they can't be loaded yet. Normally it is because they need
another book (or type of book) loaded first. e.g. You need the core
rules selected before you can add the APG.

Cheers,
James.

I was finally able to load it. I am not sure if this is a bug or just me not
understanding the software.

I first created a PC with the standard guide, and realized I needed to load the
advanced source. I went to Source> Load> and chose Advanced. I realized that it
didn't switch my already-created character, so I trashed her and started over,
ensuring that Source> Load had a symbol next to "Advanced". I clicked on it
anyway to make sure, and it didn't do anything, so I assumed that the symbol and
no extra actions after clicking on it meant that it was loaded.

Turns out that they weren't, I had to go to Source> Unload. This still left the
symbol next to Advanced, though. So I went to Source> Select Sources, which
finally seemed to load everything I need.

Would anyone else mind giving the above steps a try to see if I goofed something
up with my install, or if it might be a bug? I'm a relatively new P&P player, so
I might have done things in a different order than is expected!

Hi Dana,

Yes that sounds like a bug. The dot in the Sources > Load Sources menu
should reflect the currently loaded sources. As you noted if it gets out
of sync it doesn't work as expected.

If you'd like to track the fix please raise it in jira
<http://jira.pcgen.org>otherwise I'll raise it later today.

Cheers,
James.
