Since I just found out that I could change the source books for them, I went
ahead and switched my character out of the GM mode. Thank you for telling me
that.

I'm seeing a potential issue here. I've been posting to several threads on PCGen
lately and new users aren't realizing that they can load more books than what
are listed in the basic screen. Maybe we need to re-label the tabs since this
screen is now the default.

Basic -> Base Books

Or something similar. I don't think we need to throw gamemode in there because
new users "probably" won't get it and current users don't ned to understand it

Advanced -> Additional Books

This I'm not sure how else it could be worded.

Hi,
So far, I have been making various bug reports and feature requests mostly
directly over at JIRA--I hope that is OK. Should feature requests, in
particular, be run through the Yahoo list first, or does it matter?

A small feature request I was thinking about would be to be able to "Add" or
"Attach" existing companions, such as a pre-made (and equipped) mount or
follower, instead of having to "create" a new one every time.

Thanks, Matt

The default composite bow (+0) needs a +0 strength modifier to use with
proficiency but has a greater range increment than a regular bow. A default
composite longbow, for example, needs a strength 10 but it has a range increment
of 110 feet, greater than the 100 feat of a regular longbow. It also costs 100
GP instead of 75.

Just started using PCGen. In creating a new character: Sea Elf(custom race),
Bard, INT 17(so, I should get 3 bonus languages). When I click on the button to
add bonus language, the window comes up, says I have 3 bonus languages to
select, but the list of available languages is empty.
What am I missing? I've checked/enabled the house rule Allow selection of Int
bonus Languages after 1st level(INTBONUSLANG).

You'll also need to define the bonus languages that your custom race can
choose from. e.g. LANGBONUS:Giant,Gnome,Goblin,Orc,Terran,Undercommon

Cheers,

It can be raised on either. Sometimes the list is a good place to sound
out an idea to get it to the stage where it is ready for recording in Jira.

Yes that's a good suggestion - Andrew beat you to it though :)

A bit larger would be to be able to level up the companion as your main
character levels up. And to have the companion permanently paired with the
character (until you release it).

Best,

Henk

Hi Henk,

What do you mean? Currently, if you level the Main Character, the Companion is
leveled as per the
specifics of it's progression.

As an aside, you can also level up the companion creature until you hit the HD
cap which is set in
the companion. (3.5e mainly as Pathfinder doesn't allow this function).

Greetings,

This would be the one you'd normally customise to make a 'mighty' composite
longbow, hadn't actually realised that the '+0' version was actually a valid
item... in fact, is it valid to have as +0?

I thought you had to customise to give it a positive modifier...(like 'wand' and
'potion' - can't use the actual item, but needed to customise it first)...

As a semi-related note, could we flag in the GUI equipment that exist, but must
be customised to be used (like wand/potion/gem) make them italic or something
(they do give a dialog if you try and select them without customising)

Cheers
D

According to D&D 3E, +0 is the default composite longbow, so yes, it is valid.

I have a question about RSRD prestige classes: Are they all limited in level
advancement, or does it vary by class?

In my testing of PCGen, the Hierophant was limited to the 5 levels showing in
the RSRD table, but the Mystic Theurge, which has 10 levels showing, was able to
reach 14th level (at least).

At least with Mystic Theurge, the pattern is easily determined and extrapolated.
Others, though, seem to have a fixed ending with top-level benefits (e.g. Arcane
Archer or Loremaster, which I haven't yet tested).

Thanks, Matt

Hi,

If you load the just the regular rules, then you are limited to the 5 or 10
levels of the prestige
classes. If you load the epic rules, you have unlimited progression.

Okay, DeathQuaker is reporting that you can't modify that bow and was confused
by that.

And yes it can't be modified.

Hopefully that only applies to the 10+ level prestige classes, prestige
classes with fewer than 10 levels are capped even when using epic rules:

"A ten-level prestige class beyond can also be advanced beyond 10th level, but
only if the character level of the advancing character is already 20th or
higher. A class with fewer than ten levels cannot be advanced beyond the
maximum described for that class, regardless of the character level of the
advancing character." (RSRD)

The reason being that the 3 and 5 level prestige classes didn't have any point
for you to go farther and/or didn't have enough time to establish patterns
for continuing to gain abilities. (The one 7 level one was also thematically
linked to having exactly that many.)

The Loremaster "Secrets" that give save bonuses are shown on the standard and
troubleshooting character sheets as adding to the "Base". Would it make more
sense to add to the Saves from the "Misc." category?

I would think the Base would remain constant, based on character class and
level, and the other categories would modify the base.

Also, the mostly-equivalent feats (Great Fortitude, Iron Will, and Lightning
Reflexes) each add to the Saves from the Misc. category.

Thanks, Matt

Hi there,

I'm having a heck of a time adding a horse, heavy (war-trained) as a mount for a
character. I need it to be created such that I can print out a sheet for it (or
at least a statblock) to keep with the PC sheet.

I tried creating it as a companion but could not figure out a way to get the
hooves to be primary attacks, as they should be for a warhorse. They were in
the Natural-secondary container and couldn't be moved.

I tried adding a Horse (Heavy/Combat) as an inventory item but then there are no
stats for it that I can find.

I'm just not sure how to go about doing this. Help?

Hi Shannon,

I'm researching your issue, but I'm at work, so it might be a bit.

Assuming - Pathfinder
You added the War-trained Template?

I know the Hooves will still say they are secondary attacks, but the Attack
Bonus and Damage should
change.

I'll get back to you when I have a full answer.

Cheers,

Pathfinder is correct.

I do not see any War-trained template. It does have the Advanced Creature
(Heavy Horse) template. The hooves have an attack bonus of +0 which should
be +5 for a war-trained heavy horse.

Is there a way to adjust that manually?

Hi,

Something is off on the horse. I've raised a Code Bug and am investigating what
can be done to fix it.

One thing that's pretty funky is that the Advanced Creature (Heavy Horse)
template seems to be adding a +6 bonus to Natural Armor when it should be a
+2. It also adds +4 to Int when it shouldn't add anything.

I've been trying to locate the actual template to see if I can manually
modify it but haven't had much luck in finding it.

Hi,

Advanced Creature (Heavy Horse) CR:1
PRERACE:1,Companion (Horse),Horse

         BONUS:COMBAT|AC|2|TYPE=NaturalArmor.STACK
BONUS:STAT|STR,DEX,CON,INT,WIS,CHA|4 BONUS:WEAPONPROF=Hoof|DAMAGESIZE|1
BONUS:WEAPONPROF=Bite|TOHIT|-5 BONUS:WEAPONPROF=Bite|DAMAGE|-ceil(STR/2)
NATURALATTACKS:Bite,Weapon.Natural.Melee.Slashing.Bludgeoning.Piercing,*1,1d4

Interesting, the template from Pathfinder says:

     Advanced Creature (CR +1)

Creatures with the advanced template are fiercer and more powerful than their
ordinary cousins.

*Quick Rules*: +2 on all rolls (including damage rolls) and special ability DCs;
+4 to AC and CMD;
+2 hp/HD.

*Rebuild Rules*: *AC* increase natural armor by +2; *Ability Scores* +4 to all
ability scores
(except Int scores of 2 or less).

So, the +4 Int is wrong.

Right. And something about the way it's applying the AC bonus is messed up
too because, although it says it's adding 2, it actually adds 6. When you
look at the horse's AC before applying the template, Natural Armor is +0.
After applying the template, it's +6.

Yeah, there is something seriously messed up. I'm trying to peel the layers

1) Horse should not have any bite attack until the Advanced Template or Trained
for Combat

This might take awhile.

Hi,

So, it would appear when you type horse you get the animal companion version.
I'll see about
altering that so it's not selectable as a standard critter.
