Hi,

The joys of suppressing duplicate messages. Keep the core.

Oh, yes, my fault. I transfered those to the Bestiary core files, so
other monster data sets can use them as well, but I haven't yet
committed my Bestiary changes. I will correct that today.

Hi all,

Usual team reports - we're staying focussed on the UI upgrade and PF

Hi all,

The long term project here will be to port the UI to Java FX (Swing is
slowly being phased out by Oracle). Java FX works on Desktops as well as
Android and iOS devices, but it will be some time before we can think about
making this move (+ Java FX needs to mature for another 6 months or so IMO).

So I like to use the Character sheet tab a lot when i play, as it is a nice
place where all the info is. The only problem I have is that when i tab away
from this tab (when using the preview.html view) and go back, all the "checks"
and info I typed in has disappeared. Is there a way to have this info somewhat
persistant so if I switch to add a new item to my inventory, i don't have to
reset all the other fields as well?

So I've been a PCGen user for quite a long time; actually I run a
semi-customized PCGen (really need to get my act together and send back some
updates). Anyways, I recently got hold of an Android tablet and decided to make
"character viewer" for it.

My first thought was to port the core of PCGen to Android, but there are just
too many Swing references in some of the core classes, and frankly its a big job
anyways which would defeat the point of getting it up and running fairly
quickly.

So I took a slightly different approach, and that was to use the export feature
to export an html version that I could show in a browser window. Fairly
straight forward enough, but I also wanted it a bit more interactive so I could
add modifiers, damage/heal the character, etc. and see that the attacks, skills,
saves, etc. change.

For those that are wondering, I did and have thought about doing an HTML version
using jquery/web 2.0 (some html5 elements, but its not a "platform" like many
make it out to be). While its interesting (and more portable to say the iPad),
it did not necessarily meet my goals which was to get some experience with the
Android development SDK [i'm sure some of the original pcgen developers can
relate as one of the reasons that it got started was to learn java or so the
about says. :)].

Anyways, all that said, the location is:

http://code.google.com/p/droidpcgenviewer

It's open source, based on the GPL license, it's only alpha, and it'll be done
on my schedule and my needs/wants. :) I don't really like the GPL license, but
since one of the plans to is to allow PDF viewing, and the viewing library is
GPL'd. So end of story, GPL for now.

Thanks, have a good day.

Awesome! I hope to see this continue development. I went to install it on my
nook color tablet but alas your apk requires 3.2, and I'm running cyanogenmod
2.3 on it. Any chance you could complile for a wider range of devices?

I can look into it. I'm using some of the features in 3.0 (i.e. ActionBar,
Fragments, etc) that aren't all available in 2.X via the compatibility package.
Best would be to post an enhancement request to the issue log at
http://code.google.com/p/droidpcgenviewer/issues/entry. :)

Hi,

Sounds awesome, your contributions are very much welcome. Would you be
interested in working with
our code team and getting additional support from the PCGen community?

James Dempsey is the Code Team Lead, as this is one of our outlying goals, he'd
be happy to work
with you and get you set up so you can assist in both the core program and the
Side project.

Cheers,

Hi,

That would be cool. I stared this mostly as just a fairly light weight
viewer for use in TT games that I started as a side project for my own use,
but thought it might be useful, or interesting, to others so thought I'd
toss it up somewhere and let folks know about it.

(sorry I 've been away from PCGen for what seems like *ages*)
things moved on in our campaign and our Sorcerer 5/Dragon Disciple 5 has
advanced and taken DD.
His sheet was in PCGen 5.17.8, bug is same in 5178 & 5179. [Pathfinder
Core + APG]

When advancing from DD5 to DD6, character gets +1 level of existing
spell class - his 4th such since starting DD path. This make him the
equivalent to Sor 9 in casting capacity, and can know & cast up to 4th
level spells.

The DD feature "Blood of Dragons" says to add levels in DD to levels in
Sorcerer to determine Bloodline powers *except* that it does not grant
bonus spells unless he possesses spell slots of an appropriate level -
such spells granted automatically if gains spell slots of the spell's
level. (So the L11 Bloodline spell (5th level) should actually be
available when reaching next level (whether Sor 6 or DD 7) when he
becomes able to cast 5th level spells.

However, PCGen disagrees. On the "Known Spells" page, when expanding the
tree of Known Spells, the level 5 branch is set and expands to show the
11th level bloodline spell "Spell Resistance".

(The table in the Class Info is correct and shows Known and Cast = 0 for
level 5 spells.)

Hi Folks,

Just updating the lists in the footer. Specifically I added the JIRA link, as I
feel this is a very important link. I've also condensed the Lists to a WIKI page
where all our Mailing lists and Links are easy to review.

I'm wondering if we have any one interested in becoming a QA (Quality Assurance)
Monkey. A QA Monkey would review Data Sets - verifying that they're coded
correctly. A QA Monkey should already be on the Data Team and have a working
knowledge of LST Code.

Just to make it sound really professional -

Job Title: QA Monkey (Trial Position)
Supervises: None
Supervised by: Content SB & Data 2nd

Requirements:
* Access to SVN or Web equivalent tools for pulling/uploading data sets from the
Sourceforge SVN Repository
* At least six months Data Monkey Experience (Tamarin or Gibbon Level)
* Proven proficiency with LST Bug fixes and LST syntax usage
* Understands JIRA use and procedures

Description:
A QA monkey reviews data sets which have passed a License Review and requires a
Data Review (Step 4 in New Source JIRA Tracker) They make sure the Set is error
free and syntax correct. Corresponding with the Data Monkey that created the
data set. If they find that the data is set up and works as per the Source Book
they may make the recommendation to the Data Team (Chimp, 2nd or SB) that it be
set as a full release.
Other Duties as determined by SB/Data 2nd

Okay, that's it from me.

Cheers,

Andrew Maitland (Board of Directors ~ Admin SB)

Hi Chris,

This is really cool! I've added you to our list of 3rd party apps:
thzerodotcom@...

I've starred the project in my Google Code profile as well :-)

One practical step could be for your Output sheet to become one of the
official PCGen OutputSheets that's bundled with PCGen, thoughts?

No problem Kar, I'm just grumpy when I get up early nowadays. Since I retired (2
years), I don't think I've seen earlier than 0800 other than the PCGen meetings!
