Hmmmm ok I'll check again, I downloaded it just the other day from the link
given to me by Andrew Maitland.

sky from me. Take me out to the Black, tell them I ain't comin' back, burn the

Hi,

The witch spells are there for me...

They are defined in the pfapg_spells_mods.lst file - you might want to
check that you have the current pcc file and that it has a reference to
that file.

Oh and which version of pcgen are you using? I tested it in 5.16.3 and
the current trunk code.

Cheers,
James.

The main PCGen website at Source Forge (pcgen.sourceforge.net) has not been
updated. It still shows 5.16.2 as the latest stable. I know that's not the main
website, but it's still the website that comes up first in a Google search of
"PCGen".

Is the OOC 5163_paizo_pathfinder_rpg_beta_playtest_edition.zip still needed? I
thought that ended up into the final release of 5.16.3.

Thanks,

Chuck

That is the dataset for the Pathfinder Beta Playtest Edition, *not* the final
Pathfinder RPG edition. We decided that the Beta is a niche system and have
relegated it to an OOC installer.

I may be wrong, but I think PCGen might be too memory-intensive for
such devices.

I have floated the idea of using the display part of PCGen to have a
stand-alone character viewer, runnable from the website. You could
load up a HTML or XML character sheet and it would display it.

Also, PCGen does output to PDF, so you just need to transfer your PDF
character sheet into the device and then display it using your PDF
viewer program of choice.

Subject: File - Greetings from Moderator Monkeys.txt
pcgen@yahoogroups.com
Send Email Send Email

Greetings:

* This was last updated 19th of August 2009

Posting guidelines:
-------------------

http://wiki.pcgen.org/index.php?title=Posting_Guidelines

Here is a re-emphasis of those guidelines:
------------------------------------------

We are the Moderator Monkeys. There. We said it. We hope you all enjoyed it,
as it's the first, last, and only time we will refer to ourselves as such,
actually we tell a lie, but that's OK, because we're the Moderators :-)

You've all read the posting guidelines, right? Ha! Fat chance! We've only read
them once myself in several years of service to PCGen. That's a rather long and
lengthy read, not to mention boring. We'll point out the part that concerns us,
and therefore you, the most. We'll even sum it up in two words (points to
anybody that knows where the words come from...don't respond, you know who you
are):

-------
Be Nice
-------

That's it. That's the rule. Be Nice. If you have a disagreement with someone, Be
Nice. If someone's point of view irritates you, Be Nice. If anyone irritates
you, Be Nice. If someone insults your mother, Be Nice.

How, you ask, will you know when it's time to not Be Nice? We're glad you asked
us that. It's a simple answer. It's NEVER time for you to not Be Nice. If you
decide to not Be Nice, we start charging up the Ninja Monkeys. If you're not
nice, we'll close the thread and ask you to Be Nice. If you ignore our request
to Be Nice, we'll close down the thread, again, and TELL you to Be Nice. If you
ignore that we'll get irritated. We really hate having to close a thread more
than once. If you make us close it a third time, we'll whip out the Stick of
Doom(TM), smack you upside the head with it, and then gag you. Oh yeah and the
Ninja Monkeys will then take bits of your soul and scatter it across the
wastelands.

What's a gag, you ask? That's a simple one to answer too. A gag is where we
remove your posting privileges. If we have to gag you, the typical time is as
follows.

First offence: You get off easy, you lucky sod. You only get gagged for one
day.

Second offence: You don't get off quite as lucky. You get gagged for three
days.

Third offence: By this time, we're becoming VERY irritated with you. You get
gagged for however long we feel like gagging you at the time.
Any offence beyond the third: Now you've flat out Torqued us off! You get one
of two things. Gagged for a VERY long time, or gagged subject to banning by the
BoD (that means you're gagged until the BoD removes you from the project, or the
BoD in a majority decision, makes a very special, very persuasive,
request that you be un-gagged).

Now for the bad news <evil grin>. The above times are NOT set in stone, as some
of you are habitual offenders. You all know who you are, so we don't have to
name any names. Most of you get to skip the request, skip the order, and go
straight to the first offence. Some of you get to skip that and go to the
second offence. A small number of you get to go straight to the third offence.
A VERY select few of you are already at the very long time, or even the gagged
subject to banning by the BoD. That select few: you know who you are. This is
your ONLY warning.

That is the only sidetrack we're making for the habitual offenders. Now
everybody else (the very large majority of our community) pay attention!
Request, Order, Gag is what happens in the typical situation. Not every
situation is typical (imagine that). There will be times where the request phase
will be skipped, and even times when the order phase will be skipped and you'll
go straight to gagged, even though you've never been offensive. We don't expect
those times to happen often, but we imagine they will happen, so we're giving
everyone fair warning. It all depends on how much you offend us <evil grin>.
we'll give you all an example, from recent times, even. If anyone, in any way,
shape or form that we can possibly imagine, bashes/flames any publisher on these
boards, you proceed directly to a minimum of first offence, more depending on
how offensive you were.

Now, we're going to put something to rest right away. Code Monkey Publishing IS
A PUBLISHER, and we're tired of hearing them bashed on and flamed until
well-done. If you don't agree with us, TOUGH! You can disagree with us all you
want off the boards, this is not subject to discussion on the board. Only
warning.

OK, we think we all understand each other now, don't you? Time for us to wrap
this up. What, there's a question in the back? OK, go ahead

Question: You're not just going to leave it like that, are you? You're going
to say something nice to wrap everything up, just like the rest of the BoD,
right?

Answer: Well OK then, we really, really love the fact that we have such a large
a passionate community, we're sorry for the rules, but with 5000+ and counting
of you something had to be done, think of it as the Iron Monkey Paws in the
Velvet Gloves :-)

--------------------------------------------------------------
New Policy on Asking Questions about PI/Closed Content Sources
--------------------------------------------------------------

We respect the Publishers wishes with regards to PI and Closed Content
and therefore strongly prefer that any discussion of the creation of
those data sources are held in Generic terms.

However, we realise that a vast majority of you are asking questions
on how to code data sets for your own personal use and so we're no
longer going to growl or wave fingers at people who mention a
PI/Closed Content reference when asking questions. We will however
continue to state our responses to those questions in a generic manner
and hope that you'll do the same.

We will still not tolerate any PI/Closed Content being uploaded to our
file areas or any attempts at illegally sharing data sources.

Examples:
---------

1.) A user asking how to code the Skirmish ability from the Complete
Adventurer (WotC) will receive a helpful polite answer phrased in
generic terms, e.g "To implement an Ability that gives 1d6 damage
every 3 levels you'd want to look to the Rogue sneak attack
progression in our SRD files". But no more finger waving or growling
from the Moderators!

2.) A user stating that they want someone to give them a privately
coded data source for the Complete Adventurer set will be warned etc.

3.) A user uploading the Complete Adventurer data source will be
warned etc.

So, for all community members, there's no longer any need to call in
the Moderator if a PI/Closed Content question is asked. We will step
in if necessary if someone blatantly abuses this new policy.

For reference:
--------------

Closed Content/PI is any data source that we don't have permission to
publish ourselves or isn't OGL/OGC.

Please see:

http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/autobuilds/pcgen-docs/acknowledgments/publishersand\
sources.html

For a list of publisher permissions that we currently have.

PapaDRB and Karianna - on behalf of the Moderators
- This doc was modified from Mynex's and Hetter's original doc.

I have gone back through the past several days of posts and can't find the
answer to my question.

At the risk of sounding terribly ignorant how does a person get a copy of the
working/beta Pathfinder AGP files? What's an OCC? From context it sounds like
those files would come in that format.

I would love to play with the AGP files, but I don't have time to be a data
monkey. If this is verboten then I apologize.

Thanks,

Download the tarball's from these two locations:
http://pcgen.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pcgen/Trunk/pcgen/data/alpha/paizo/
http://pcgen.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pcgen/Trunk/content/notfordistribution/p\

Make a backup copy of your PCGen directory.
Make a backup copy of your PCGen directory.
Make a backup copy of your PCGen directory.

Un-tar then un-zip the files into your data directory and load it up.
These are preliminary files and do NOT contain all the APG data, and
contain errors. Drew & Stefan are working furiously on them but they are
not ready to be put into the data files as a "finished" or even "beta"
product. They are more like an early Alpha.

I'm a new Data Monkey, so I may not be as knowledgeable (AKA someone correct me
if I'm wrong who knows more than I do).

I believe you can access the new files by visiting
http://pcgen-test.org/autobuilds/ and getting the latest autobuild. It will
allow you to see what improvements are going on in PCGen, as well as access the
new APG material (as well as our bugs & other issues that have yet to be ironed
out).

I'm sure someone else will chime in that we'd love to have you as a tester.
That way you can keep current on the changes, as well as helping us iron out
bugs and typos that we wouldn't be as privy to noticing. I do not know exactly
how to go about this, but someone will probably leave a message here on how to
(or hell, maybe there's already a message so all you need to do is search?).

BUT, and this is a big BUT, not all the APG stuff is done being converted to
LST. So there are still a number of classes, prestige classes, subclass/domain
stuff, etc. that are not available.

If you don't have time to test, then the next best thing is just to have
patience. :)

To be honest, it's currently mostly Andrew and Eric, and James who are working
on these data files. I provide guidance and ideas and work with Andrew on
brainstorming this and that on IM or IRC.

Hi folks,

I'm going to post this for everyone who decides to grab these folders/files.
I've already been asked
a few questions off-list about this and don't want a deluge of questions from
confused users.

THE INSTALL DATA FEATURE WILL NOT WORK - That is only valid for purposefully
designated /_*O*_/ut
_/*O*/_f /_*C*_/ycle data sets that have been uploaded with that feature [Any of
our OOC Sets from
SourceForge]; these files are a direct copy from the /_*S*_/ub_/*V*/_ersion/_*
N*_/umber control
system we use to allow multiple developers to work on the same files at
different times without
undoing the work of another. These are in-progress data files that are NOT part
of the distribution
of PCGen, they **/_will_/** be buggy [Sorry, even I introduce bugs inadvertently
and I've been
coding in LST for a good lengthy time], they are not complete and they will be
changed/altered on an
almost daily basis as things are added or removed from it. Relying on these
incomplete sets for a
comprehensive character is not a wise choice. These sets and the download
location are being
provided for the sole purpose to let people TEST THESE SETS and give us
FEEDBACK. Use them at your
OWN RISK/PERIL.

To Use These Files -
You can use it simply by downloading it, and unzipping it in your local pcgen
data folder and then
using the 'ADVANCED SCREEN' select it to load with the Paizo Core stuff.

If you plan on using it, I suggest you note the SVN revisions number, and keep
BOTH the Paizo Core
Files and APG up to date as I am altering both sets concurrently to accommodate
the necessary changes.

Again, use these files at your own risk. I make no guarantees that they'll work
consistently. Now
that I know people are grabbing them, I'm trying to make sure each revision I
add, they'll load and
work, but again, I'm not promising anything.

Hi folks,

Well, if people didn't make mistakes they wouldn't learn. Here is the Correction
that was requested.

That is the autobuild for the latest version of PCGen, it's the Developer
Version of whatever Trunk
version we are on. Currently the files will say 5.17.3 but it's a continuous
build nightly of any
new changes, hence why I call it Developer as that's what you'd get if we
released the 5.17.4 now).
While that does have the option to grab the code, the data and the docs, those
will not include the
extraneous files and folders, Not For Distribution, Pretty LST, Syntax
Highlighters, Source Docs,
Release Notes, etc.. and which also includes the APG along with any other sets
in development.

That way you can keep current on the changes, as well as helping us iron out
bugs and typos that we wouldn't be as privy to noticing. I do not know exactly
how to go about this, but someone will probably leave a message here on how to
(or hell, maybe there's already a message so all you need to do is search?).

LST. So there are still a number of classes, prestige classes, subclass/domain

I was wondering if someone could help me. I usually play fantasy RPG, most
often in te Greyhawk setting. However, I am joining a new group and I need to
roll up a character based on d20 Modern. Which of the included sources pertain
to d20 Modern? I really don't want to load them all.

I have PC Gen 5.17.3 for Macintosh, but it sucks - it shows I have to choose
feats, skills, languages and such, but does not give me the option to make any
selections! (To try it out I loaded all the sources.) I'm running it on an
iMac G5 with OSX 10.5.8.

So, I just downloaded 5.16.3 for Windows. I am runing Windows 7 on a brand-new
Compaq laptop. I don't know what other info you need for this, let me know...

Thanks,
Judi

Hi,

Switch the Modern GameMode, all the compatible source will be listed in the
Advanced Screen.

You might want to check with the GM on which additional source books they are
using. Since there are
subsets based upon that choice - Past, Future, etc.

Is that for both versions? 5.17.3 for Mac and 5.16.3 for Windows?

Hi,

All OS versions should be the same. It's coded in Java for just that reason.
Mac, Linux, Windows,
and anything else that supports Java.

OK, I've gotten that to work. Now another question - why are there no
other medical occupations listed other than doctors? My character is
a nurse (RN, not LPN) and does not fit under any of those occupations
listed.

PCGen 5.16.3
Pathfinder

Character has a Longbow, and when listing possessions (regardless of
output sheet) there is 1 listed. If I go to Temporary Bonus and add
Deadly Aim to the Longbow, it shows up twice in the list of possessions.

I think the following is picking up the Longbow twice:
|FOR,%equip,0,COUNT[EQUIPMENT.Not.Contained.NOT.Container.NOT.Natural]-1,1,1|

Figures. Nurses do all the work, doctors get all the glory.

Anyway, I'm having a problem choosing Feats and Talents. PCGen won't
let me choose Healing Knack as a talent - as a matter of fact, it
doesn't show that I have a choice for a talent at all, but the main
page states I have to choose my Dedicated Hero talent. (Working with
OSX 10.5.8 with 5.17.3.)

Also, I've noticed on the preview that gender always shows up as Male,
no matter what you change it to.

Yeah, us paramedics get left out too quite often.

Well, that's a bit strange. Let me pull it up and see if it's an issue I can
duplicate.

I'm not sure it can be fixed. The "second" one is actually the longbow with the
Deadly Aim bonus applied. It has to show up in inventory in order to get listed
on the weapons block. The only real issue I see is that the "[Deadly Aim]" text
is removed from the second one. It's listed at zero weight and zero cost, so
it's not throwing anything else off.

So this would have to be a pretty fundamental coding change to fix this. Yea,
it's a bit annoying, but since it doesn't really hurt anything, I wouldn't call
it a bug. However, it should be listed as a FREQ to fix this, I think it's
something the code team should think about when they bolt in the new OS
generator.

There were two file changes I made for the APG Summoner from from the final
playtest:

The "Eidolon" ability in the pfapg_abilities_class.lst is no longer "once per
day"

There were many changes to the Eidolon evolutions in the
pfapg_abilities_companions.lst that have been corrected in the version in the
Homebrew LST Files folder. Several costs changed and the spell-like abilities
were completely removed.
