Hi, everyone,
I thought I would throw this out there to gauge interest and such before putting
too much work into it.
I have found a freeware play by SMS system (originally designed for Star Trek
online games) that I was looking at possibly modifying for Immortals. For those
not familiar with play by SMS it's similar to play by BB or play by e-mail. You
are notified via email when joint/collaborative posts are created with your
player and when they are updated by other players in the post. You log into the
website and post your reply/action and either save/update the post or post it
for the rest of the group to see.
Advantages: The system allows for people to participate and post no matter what
time zone/country they are in. While posts are saved they can only be viewed by
the players in the post and the GMs. Would allow for "global" continuity
between groups of players.
Disadvantages: Posts move slower than normal pen-paper chat or in person RP
sessions. Because the code wasn't designed for Immortals it is going to take
time to make it workable. No built in dice rolling system, you either trust
players to let you know what they roll or you trust the GM to make the roll for
you.
So my question is, if I were to work on this and get a site setup, how many
would be interested in participating? Who would like to be GMs' and who would
like to play? I personally would not have much time to GM, though I would love
to play (since I have never been a real player in an Immortal's game just the
GM).
Let me know what your thoughts are.
Sam
