Hi chess friends, there seems to have been some misunderstandings about the early registration discount, so I am extending it to Thanksgiving Monday. In a nutshell, to claim the $5 discount, which applies only to regular (not Amateur) registrations, I need your registration by email, by this coming Thanksgiving Monday, and then I need your payment in either of the following two ways by Thursday:

1) registrations by mail: by the time (before 7pm) that I check the mailbox
2) registrations in person: by the time (after 730pm) that I leave the RA club

Regular registrations will continue for over another week after that, as the event starts October 19th.

The principal reason behind this discount is because some stronger players from outside Ottawa would only be interested in coming if we had many participants. Therefore, I want numbers earlier!  ;)

Please find below the players already registered. We are off to a fine start of 21, with 2 weeks to go!

If you notice single digits just before the CFC number column, those refer to byes already requested.

Location:       RA Centre
- 2451 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, Ontario

Rounds/Type:   5-round Swiss, rated CFC Regular
- at least 2 sections, based on player distribution

Round Times:
- Friday: 7pm
- Saturday: 10am & 4pm
- Sunday: 9am & 3pm

Byes:   up to 2 half-point byes within the first 3 rounds
- such byes must be requested before previous round
- byes for Round 1 must be requested when registering
- all other requested byes will be considered 0-point

Time Control:   2 hours + 30 seconds increment per move
(if no digital clock, then analog equivalent is GAME/2.5hours)

Entry Fee:      the standard entry fee is $50
- there will be a $5 rebate for players who pay before (Canadian) Thanksgiving!
- there is a $5 discount for members of the RA Chess Club
- there is also an Amateur option for $25 (no other discount & ineligible for prizes)
- if CFC membership expired, you can renew at the same time
        (note the option of a CFC tournament membership for only $10)
- free entry for IMs & GMs

Prize Fund:     based on entries, and player distribution

Registration:
- mail: cheque to "NNOCC", Box-11021, Station-H, Ottawa, K2H-7T8
(include email address or phone number, for registration confirmation)
- RA club: to Aris Marghetis, Thursdays to October 18^th (cash), after 7pm
- onsite: cash + $10 late fee, and at least 1 hour before the next round

More Information:
- standard paper boards & plastic chess sets provided
- digital clocks preferred, with some available for rent
- U14 players must have contact number(s) with them
- note strict enforcement of law 12.2-b:
if your electronic device rings, you lose
- and of course: no computers, no smoking, etc.
