| Notes: | Our monthly Manhattan Boardgame Meetup kicks off at Fat Cat Billiards at 75 Christopher St. Fat Cat has: 10 pool tables, 10 ping pong tables, 3 shuffleboard tables, 3 foosball machines, and enough chess (with time clocks), checkers, backgammon, and scrabble sets (boards, letters, letter trays, & dictionaries) to satisfy a mob. We have reserved a lounge-type area with couches and coffee tables to play. Their website is at www.fatcatmusic.org to look over the site. Also at 8:30 there will be live music till about Midnite. The venue closes at 4Am. Frequently Asked Questions: 1. Is there a cover charge? Yes, the venue charges a $3 cover charge, waived if you come before 8PM (so get there early, there will live music at 8:30). There are charges for Chess pieces/clock, Pool, Foosball, etc. but you can play our boardgames for free. Organizers cover the Meetup.com group fees, so there is no charge for the group itself. 2. Should I bring my own dinner or snack? You are welcome to bring in food or snacks (just not drinks, of course), as long as everyone promises to be as tidy as possible; being at basement level, they have to work hard to stave off wildlife. You can purchase soda, alcoholic beverages and more there. 3. I'd like to play Boggle/Risk/etc, will this be possible? Sure, please bring your set! Members are our sole source of games, so you are strongly encouraged to bring something if you'd like to play it. Usually, our members tend to bring more "modern" games than the "classics" like Monopoly, etc., so chances are relatively low that you'll find someone else bringing an old favorite. That said, games of every vintage are welcome, and this group is also a great way to learn a few new favorites while in good company. Our group's monthly Meetup fees are paid by Mark Lentz, Miguel Gallego, Erik Dresner, Avri Klemer, Steef Jacobson and David Greene. Thank you Mark, Miguel, Erik and Avri!! | |
